Heidi made our entire vacation here a great experience; we cannot wait to return. I love when people in the hospitality business know what they're doing and love what they're doing. I'm a Santa Monica local, and my parents, who came to visit me from Israel, stayed here for 5 nights, 08/01/2025-08/06/2025. I helped them book their stay via Booking.com. The service is exceptional beyond what we expected. Heidi at the front desk did everything she could to ensure my parents would feel at home. The entire hotel staff is 10 out of 10. My parents visited me for almost a month, and during this month, they stayed in three different hotels. The Ocean View hotel was the last one on the list, and they liked it the best. The price was reasonable. The hotel is beautiful and in a fantastic location with excellent customer service. This is precisely what you want your hotel to be: people come for the area, enjoy the cleanliness and comfort, and come back for the customer service & experience.

Hotel's location was very convenient, with restaurants and walking paths right nearby. The staff welcomed us very warmly at check-in. Upon entering the room, we found anniversary celebration balloons, drinks, chocolates, and a card with handwritten messages from four staff members placed on the bed. It was incredibly touching. We stayed in a 4th-floor ocean view room, offering an amazing view of the Pacific Ocean. The room had a private balcony, perfect for watching the sunset. The hotel was very clean, and the surrounding area felt safe. The bathroom was fully stocked with complimentary toiletries and all necessary amenities. The room featured a high-end Nespresso coffee machine. The bed was extremely comfortable. I will definitely visit this hotel again. I highly recommend it to everyone.

How would I even let them pre-authorize the card? Oh and they hold the money for a week. Ew

I was able to connect with someone at the hotel finally and they confirmed I'm all squared away and they see me in their system. ‍ Apparently there's some automation on the booking.com side that sends this terrifying email out.

When you're looking for a place in Santa Monica, the main priority is being as close to the ocean as possible--that's the real star of the show and the reason people from all over the world visit. This trip was a special one for me, and it was my first time staying at an ocean-view property. Let me tell you--the hotel and its team did not disappoint. I had one small request, and Heidi not only accommodated it but did so with incredible efficiency and responsiveness. At check-in, I met Ashley, who was not only super friendly but also knew the city inside and out, giving me great local tips. Joy and Teresa were absolutely amazing; as I was heading to the beach with my hands full, they noticed and kindly offered me a complimentary beach bag and an extra towel. On my way back, Christian saw that I looked thirsty and handed me two bottles of water--exactly what I needed after a day in the sun. This experience was truly top-tier. I will not only be returning to this property but also sharing my experience with friends and family heading to the Westside for a vacation. Thank you again, Ocean View, for a five-star, five-diamond stay!

Service is good. This review is not a reflection of the staff. Of course the location is great. The room itself is outdated and very noisy. I honestly can't remember the last time I could hear noise transfer through the ceiling at a hotel! You can always hear sounds from the hallway, but not floor to floor. I've been here less than 8 hours and have been startled at least three times. Not looking forward to my first full night, let alone a second. I don't think it's worth the price.

Review Stayed 2 nights Sep 6-7. Hotel is directly across from Santa Monica beach & pier. Easy access to the 3rd street promenade. Check in was a breeze. Valet parking was very quick and efficient. Staff very warm, courteous and welcoming. Stayed in an Ocean view room, 4th floor, with amazing views of the Pacific. Room has a private balcony which was ideal to watch the sunset. Hotel was very clean, surrounding area safe. Housekeeping did a stellar job. Bathroom had a generous amount of complimentary toiletries. Free towels to use at the beach, with the hotel placing the towels in a reusable bag for our convenience. Room equipped with a high end Nespresso coffee machine. Bed was very comfortable, both nights had a great nights sleep. Didn't utilize the free bike rental. Highly recommended this outstanding hotel. You will not be disappointed.

We had an excellent stay at Oceanview Hotel. We reserved the ocean view room with a balcony overlooking the pier and beach. It was comfortable and stocked with all of the amenities. The location is perfect for walking to the farmers market, SM pier, the mall, and restaurants and shops. We actually walked along the beach all the way to Venice Beach for lunch. The hospitality and service are impeccable. I asked for an early check in and they graciously accommodated us. We were able to check in at 1:00 pm. They also extended our checkout to noon. That's almost unheard of any more. Fantastic customer service! Kudos to Joy and Heidi.

I'll start by saying that I'm not a big fan of Santa Monica, and I'm really picky about hotels. That said, my son wanted to go to Universal Studios for his birthday, so Santa Monica was the best option. I had mentioned that it was my son's birthday when I booked the room, and we were greeted with such a great surprise when we got to the room. They went above and beyond to make him feel special, and the card is still sitting on his desk here at home. He loved it! The room was very clean and had all the nice touches to be expected. We stayed on the fourth floor, and the view was perfect. Not to mention the staff was very friendly! We had a great trip and will definitely be back. Thank you for making my son's birthday so great!

Lost a star because they would not accept my debit card as payment. It was a strange situation. I reserved the room on Hotels.com but chose the option of paying at the hotel. We arrived and after about 40 minutes of chaos, we figured it out (I could pay with cash using the ATM machine). It was just an odd intro to the hotel. Regardless, we got our beach front view and we loved it. This was a mother daughter trip and I wanted to give her a weekend to remember and this was our final stop. The hotel was very nice, the room was nice, and we just loved that we could watch the sunset from our room. It was a pleasant experience. The hotel is technically across the street from the hotel but the street is not extremely busy. I would stay again. . . . .. .

What a nice quant hotel! Very clean and right on Ocean Blvd (beach view!). So that can be a little challenging with the noise factor! So many people on ocean Blvd, lots of people at the beach. Beach views are gorgeous and views of the pier and the big Ferris wheel and rides. Lots of homeless people using drugs - very sad, however I give Santa Monica props for keeping the town and beach clean!! I want to give a shout out to Cristian who checked us in and out; he was extremely friendly, kind and excellent customer service!! Go make a reservation there!!

This hotel was pretty good from the beginning. The shower was fancy but bad because you had to get in the cold water to get to the warm or Hot water and you had to keep moving the shower handle up or down to keep getting the hot or warm water, it was either too cold or too hot,the beds were uncomfortable for the price, the small room for the price. Our experience was bad, the the nearby restaurants and the pier were a bit pricey but good and fun. It was all good...Until we checked out when they told us about the fees, they told us that "parking was 50 dollars per day" for the valet (A.K.A the only choice to park for the hotel) and with the absurd prices for the room it should have been free) and then we told them you guys never told us about the parking fees and then the front desk worker told us "You should have asked first." And we got mad and we were also mad because the valet guy didn't tell us about the fees And it's basically his job to tell us about everything. Then we saw the other (hidden) fees and it was just as bad as the hidden valet fees. Our fees alone were 170$ picture of proof. Summary: Too little for the big price (300 and over), hidden fees, bad customer service, terrible shower ,valet parking only and for 50 dollars per day at their parking lot. Overall a bad hotel. (wouldn't recommend) oh the robot in the lobby was cool!

First day # 1 start So far I'm not impress about this hotel. Staff were nice at the valet parking. The handy man of the hotel was very nice, helpful and happy. The price for the rooms I'm not impressed. The is not pool or jacuzzi. Cleaning of the room is good and the front office. The glass door in the shower is dirty The shower water pressure is really good. Shampoo and conditioner are hey give u a good amount which is a plus for people with long hair. The ac works good We book two rooms and we have been charge three times so far, hoping I will get refund at the checkout. Is nice that is close to restaurants, bars and the pier, also very convenient for business trip. I will update my rating as my day by day experience. Three nights after taxes and fees were $1422 Friday- Saturday-Sunday- checking out Monday. Recommendation please try Boa steakhouse is really good worth the money. Do not try the lunch truck that is on Wilshire and ocean view in front of the hotel Miramar. Day #2 they get a 3 starts The coffee from the front desk in the am is good. I'm wondering why there is not hand soap when they have anything else available, I thought maybe the cleaning lady forgot to put it but today there is none there either. Well at least I brought my shower gel. I asked the front desk for some hand soap and they gave me a half use bottle but I'm ok at least is some. I had to request for the cleaning lady to filled the shampoo and conditioner er since she did t do it in the morning. Besides that the room is very comfortable, clean and The room that we are there is no noise from Neighboors which I'm happy since we are working a lot. Is like no I'm not being a Karen but my hair is super long and I'm working night shit and while I'm doing this job my hair needs to be wash and I have to shower after and before work and between if I. An so please filled up my shampoo and conditioner, yes I brought some of my own but after what I'm paying a night and they not providing w a pool or jacuzzi come on fill the normal things that is need it in the room. Thank you. The restaurant Mel's restaurant down the street is really good, avocado toast, grilled cheese short ribs with sweet potatoes is really good and do t forget mimosas and the Santa Monica ipa super food. The maintenance guy is super nice, he makes jokes w my husband and me , is always nice to see happy people that lives his job. I will ask his name tomorrow. Sad to say but the lower the positions are from the workers rhe nicer they are. Come on train the front desk (ladies ), they guys so fat at the night shift have been nice and polite but the ladies during the day they need to be happier and helpful Day #3

Dear Shutters on the Beach Team,…read more I wanted to take a moment to sincerely thank you for such a beautiful and memorable experience during our recent stay.especially Cyndi Enriquez who helped us . From the moment we checked in, I was impressed. One of your team members, Julie, remembered my last name and greeted me so warmly--it immediately made us feel welcomed and valued. The ambiance throughout the hotel was wonderfully quiet and calm, which made a huge difference from our first visit. It truly felt like a peaceful escape. Our room was an incredible surprise. The ocean view was breathtaking--we ended up spending the entire afternoon and morning out on the balcony, simply enjoying the scenery and the serenity. Thank you as well for the thoughtful surprise birthday cake. That gesture meant so much and made the stay even more special. Overall, it was an incredible experience. We truly appreciate how you listened to us and went above and beyond to create an even better, unforgettable stay. We will absolutely be coming back. 10 stars! Warm regards, Pamela Madden

Alas, I fear my memory will fade before I have time to memorialize a perfect tribute. From Mikey and Willem to Mike, Andrew, Jason and Zach at the door, to Carol, Rosanna, Myles, Anthony, Beatrice at the front desk, Dorshab, Jimmy, Kevin, Liz G., Mary and Jesse in dining, Maria and Ana in housekeeping, Scott, Gabriel, Julie, Cyndi - quite sincerely every single Shutters employee who crossed my path during a 6 month residency made my life better for having known them. I am eternally grateful for the care and concern extended by this hotel to our community as it offered haven to Palisades refugees - along with our dogs, cats, birds, snakes, fish - piled into their beautiful lobby that had finished a renovation a couple weeks prior. The hotel group was generous, and the employees from every department were of the highest caliber. Whoever did the lion share of the hiring for the staff present between January-June 2025 deserves an award. In 6 months time, I did not directly or indirectly encounter a single issue with staff. Rooms were perfectly appointed with luxurious bathtubs and great views. Of the 5 rooms I stayed in, Room 734 was my all around favorite. If that's not in the budget, Room 308 is a runner up. For those looking for a weekend away, I recommend you ask for a room on the 7th, then 6th, then 5th, then 4th floor...you get my point. Rooms from -30-38 with direct ocean views are also the quietest as they're nestled in the center of the hotel. Noise can be an issue on the 3rd floor, at least when staying for months. probably won't bother anyone over a weekend. During a time of great chaos and unprecedented stress, managing the remediation of seniors with dementia, assisting 6 family members who lost homes, Shutters provided me a safe haven. For the rest of my life, I shall be grateful for the kindness of ownership, management, and boots on the ground. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your kind compassion. I'm including a sketch gifted by the magnificent Carol (@caroldraws___ on IG) of the Shutters house poms. My girls miss their hotel bestie, Cyndi, every day. It's too hard for me to go back as I know I'll want to stay. I miss them all very much.

Even though it was only about a mile and a half away, the traffic made it take 15 minutes each way to get to the hospital. This time, being so close made everything so much easier during a stressful few days when I was going back and forth constantly. The property itself was clean, quiet, and very comfortable. The housekeeping staff was fantastic too. The gentleman who was responsible for our room always asked if we needed anything and if he could provide any assistance in making our stay even better. The great thing about the suite setup is that the living room with a pull out couch is separated by a door to the bedroom; you could watch TV in one room and not bother the people in the other room. The TVs in each room were oversized and there was a decent sized mini fridge (Target and Trader Joes are just down the street - hello wine and beer!) The walls were thick, as was the main door and hotel noise and street noise was minimal. They have a pool on the 3rd floor that doubles as the covered drop off/entrance area and it was very nice. The breakfast buffet was solid (include made to order eggs), but it was too expensive (approx. $33 per person-tip included.) The best part about our stay were the pillows. Down pillows! The most comfortable pillows I have ever slept on! The beds were solid too. What else? You're a couple of blocks from the Santa Monica Pier and Beach. You're within an 8 minute walk to McDonald's for breakfast (cheaper than the hotel buffet!) and your about a 10 minute walk to the 3rd St Promenade. Our daughter absolutely loved her first trip to the beach and this Hilton property and its staff had a lot to do with that! *Tip 1* Head to Trader Joes to stock up on booze for your room fridge. *Tip 2* They don't have a microwave on property to reheat leftovers or snacks. The amenities were nice and I really liked the rooms, the shower had great pressure and the water got, and stayed hot. Also, I always love a robe and slippers, and the bed was the right firmness as well. The room even had a partial ocean view from the window, which let in plenty of natural light during the day. Everything looked clean and contemporary, and the room didn't feel cramped even with a desk and chair in there along with the bed.

I asked the bartender to leave the bottles on ice at the counter with some glasses so I could pour for my guests myself. He refused, insisting that he needed to pour the drinks. He then deliberately poured larger servings than I wanted, clearly trying to make us finish the bottles faster so we would buy more. When I asked him to pour less champagne, he laughed and said, "Oh, you want to maximize the bottle," which felt disrespectful and inappropriate--especially on my wedding day, and while everyone was already spending money on drinks. My brother-in-law paid for a couple of bottles of champagne, closed the check, signed it, and left. About an hour later, the same bartender came to me and asked me to pay for those bottles, claiming the check had never been closed and suggesting I ask my brother-in-law for the money. At that point, I was extremely upset because I personally saw my brother-in-law close and sign the check. After speaking with the manager, the truth came out: the bartender had mistakenly closed a different check using my brother-in-law's card. When he realized his error, instead of admitting it, he tried to cover it up and make me pay. This caused unnecessary stress and wasted time on what should have been one of the happiest days of my life. In addition, we had called in advance to ask if we could bring our own cake and were clearly told yes, it would not be a problem. However, when the cake arrived, we were suddenly told that outside food was not allowed. This contradiction added even more frustration for me and my guests. Because of this experience, neither I nor my guests will ever return to this place, no matter how nice the location is, unless that bartender is no longer working there. His behavior was unprofessional and disrespectful, and he should be focused on pleasing customers--not creating conflict. The manager was polite and cordial, but he should have addressed his employee's mistake directly instead of involving me during my wedding celebration.
