Planned this little staycation to escape the heat in the valley and the fact that our electricity was going to be turned off for maintenance of power supplies in the valley. Beautiful view! walking distance to the beach literally across the street. Nice small quaint hotel. Rooms appear clean. Fridge in room, TV, AC, desk, small closet, keurig, and ceiling fan. We got lucky and found a metered parking spot right in front. After 6pm it's free. We arrived around 5:40. Check-in is 4-6 pm. Let me preface this by saying I am not trying to be negative, but just honest. I gave this property a 3 rating because while I reserved my room with an ocean view earlier in the week, I showed up and was told that all rooms were gone with an ocean view I showed them my confirmation and then I was told that there was another room that was ready and I could have that one but it was more expensive.. No thank you. I said i requested a room with a view and received a response that it would be accommodated. Then I was told, well there is one that faces the front but we can't seem to get the guy out of the room to which I kindly asked , well what time is check out. He stated 11am, so then why is a guest still in the room? He told me to come back in an hour and hopefully the room would be ready. IT'S HOT and I was fit to be tied, but because we are right at the beach, we just walked over and sat for a while before coming back to finally check in. They provide amenities in a very small amount. Like only one person can use the shower gel. The bed did not have a top sheet. That was a first for me. I can't sleep under the duvet because of menopause so having a top sheet is nice. Not a very comfortable sleep for me, as bed was very firm. Toilet "ran" all night. Basically if you want peace and quite, stay somewhere else, but if you want great access to the beach and don't mind outside noise(people and cars), then this is the place Not a pleasant experience, but I managed. Con- Parking on premises is $36 night

I stayed here for 8 nights and will stay there again. They upgraded me from a Queen to a King (thanks). When my flight was delayed they let me check out late...and when I accidentally slept past my flight, the front desk called and woke me up lol. It's expensive, but that's the going rate - and much cheaper than other area hotels. Same for their parking - $30ish/night but I didn't have to worry about my car being towed. Perfect location. I was impressed with the kitchenette, didn't expect that. 2 fridges - wow. I'd def recommend the Bayside. My room over looked the parking lot lol. These pics are from outside my front door, "garden courtyard." Nice ambiance. Also you need a key to obtain access to the hotel...which is a huge security feature. No bums could sneak in!

Perfect location and friendly staff! We stayed overnight in this cozy hotel and when we got there it was a nice little hotel with friendly staff members. Excellent for short term stay. Room was super clean and is walking distance to Santa Monica Pier. Parking is a little tight but it was ok for us.

My girlfriend and I are wrapping up our 5th and last day here. We will be back. The hotel, which I was told was recently remodeled, is wonderful. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The staff is friendly, courteous, and helpful. They have complementary beach towels, chairs, and umbrellas to take to the beach, which is across the street and a 5-10 minute walk to the pier. Highly recommended.

First cover... front

This is, without a doubt, the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. The duvet cover was stained with... something. I rather sleep in my car than stay here ever again. I then proceeded to ask for another duvet. Most hotels can do this, but apparently, they do not have any spare duvets. They did, however, have another cover, which was also stained. They handed us the duvet cover and said they can not come up to change it. Strange. What takes things to a whole new level, is that the night manager said he would discount our stay. How kind we thought until we asked him whether or not it would be credited back to our card. The manager then said that he was not able to do anything about the charge after we booked the room. I would highly suggest everyone avoid a hotel that has dirty linens and a staff that will lie to their guests. The only convenient thing about this hotel is the location to the beach.

Employees and GM are amazing. Their customer service goes beyond and the extra mile to make you stay really comfortable. ROB, The manager explained few facts about the city rules and guide us to visit restaurants and local places.

Recently stayed here for a girls overnight trip with my daughter. We enjoyed ourselves. The room was clean, nicely decorated with beach decor. Bed was decent. Within walking distance to the beach. We were able to spend the evening at the Santa Monica Pier had dinner and walked on the beach then next day went and enjoyed the day at the beach. Overall experience was nice and comfortable. The only complaint is in LA all hotels you have to pay about $30 for parking I don't blame the hotel they have to do what they have to do especially being close to the beach. Parking lot is small on a first come first serve basis so I Made sure not to check in too late and we got a spot. There is no pool or jaccuzzi so if you are looking for those amenities not the place for you. Front desk was polite and easy checkin.

Dear Shutters on the Beach Team,…read more I wanted to take a moment to sincerely thank you for such a beautiful and memorable experience during our recent stay.especially Cyndi Enriquez who helped us . From the moment we checked in, I was impressed. One of your team members, Julie, remembered my last name and greeted me so warmly--it immediately made us feel welcomed and valued. The ambiance throughout the hotel was wonderfully quiet and calm, which made a huge difference from our first visit. It truly felt like a peaceful escape. Our room was an incredible surprise. The ocean view was breathtaking--we ended up spending the entire afternoon and morning out on the balcony, simply enjoying the scenery and the serenity. Thank you as well for the thoughtful surprise birthday cake. That gesture meant so much and made the stay even more special. Overall, it was an incredible experience. We truly appreciate how you listened to us and went above and beyond to create an even better, unforgettable stay. We will absolutely be coming back. 10 stars! Warm regards, Pamela Madden

Alas, I fear my memory will fade before I have time to memorialize a perfect tribute. From Mikey and Willem to Mike, Andrew, Jason and Zach at the door, to Carol, Rosanna, Myles, Anthony, Beatrice at the front desk, Dorshab, Jimmy, Kevin, Liz G., Mary and Jesse in dining, Maria and Ana in housekeeping, Scott, Gabriel, Julie, Cyndi - quite sincerely every single Shutters employee who crossed my path during a 6 month residency made my life better for having known them. I am eternally grateful for the care and concern extended by this hotel to our community as it offered haven to Palisades refugees - along with our dogs, cats, birds, snakes, fish - piled into their beautiful lobby that had finished a renovation a couple weeks prior. The hotel group was generous, and the employees from every department were of the highest caliber. Whoever did the lion share of the hiring for the staff present between January-June 2025 deserves an award. In 6 months time, I did not directly or indirectly encounter a single issue with staff. Rooms were perfectly appointed with luxurious bathtubs and great views. Of the 5 rooms I stayed in, Room 734 was my all around favorite. If that's not in the budget, Room 308 is a runner up. For those looking for a weekend away, I recommend you ask for a room on the 7th, then 6th, then 5th, then 4th floor...you get my point. Rooms from -30-38 with direct ocean views are also the quietest as they're nestled in the center of the hotel. Noise can be an issue on the 3rd floor, at least when staying for months. probably won't bother anyone over a weekend. During a time of great chaos and unprecedented stress, managing the remediation of seniors with dementia, assisting 6 family members who lost homes, Shutters provided me a safe haven. For the rest of my life, I shall be grateful for the kindness of ownership, management, and boots on the ground. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your kind compassion. I'm including a sketch gifted by the magnificent Carol (@caroldraws___ on IG) of the Shutters house poms. My girls miss their hotel bestie, Cyndi, every day. It's too hard for me to go back as I know I'll want to stay. I miss them all very much.

Nice bathrobes and long balconies. There's alcohol in the fridge and snacks you can pay for. I didn't really like the shower that much but it was alright. I've been to a lot of hotels with this style. Water pressure was probably a 6/10. Turning the knob for the initial morning shower sucks cause it's cold and you get hit with the cold water before lol. I needed a place that could comfortably accommodate my dad, my dog, and me while allowing me to shuttle back and forth to the hospital easily. The Ambrose ended up being just about a two-minute drive from the medical center, which made an enormous difference. When my mom had surgery there a few years ago, I stayed closer to the ocean. Even though it was only about a mile and a half away, the traffic made it take 15 minutes each way to get to the hospital. This time, being so close made everything so much easier during a stressful few days when I was going back and forth constantly. The property itself was clean, quiet, and very comfortable. It was also incredibly convenient to have Tartine right across the street for coffee, breakfast, and quick refreshments. There are also plenty of nearby shops, restaurants, grocery stores, and even specialty markets like Erewhon within minutes. Most importantly, the hotel was very accommodating for my dog Grace, which was essential for our stay. All around, it was a wonderful experience, and I would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it--especially for anyone who needs to be close to UCLA Santa Monica Medical Center.

The housekeeping staff was fantastic too. The gentleman who was responsible for our room always asked if we needed anything and if he could provide any assistance in making our stay even better. We stayed in a 1 bedroom suite. The great thing about the suite setup is that the living room with a pull out couch is separated by a door to the bedroom; you could watch TV in one room and not bother the people in the other room. The TVs in each room were oversized and there was a decent sized mini fridge (Target and Trader Joes are just down the street - hello wine and beer!) The walls were thick, as was the main door and hotel noise and street noise was minimal. They have a pool on the 3rd floor that doubles as the covered drop off/entrance area and it was very nice. The breakfast buffet was solid (include made to order eggs), but it was too expensive (approx. $33 per person-tip included.) The best part about our stay were the pillows. Down pillows! The most comfortable pillows I have ever slept on! The beds were solid too. What else? You're a couple of blocks from the Santa Monica Pier and Beach. You're within an 8 minute walk to McDonald's for breakfast (cheaper than the hotel buffet!) and your about a 10 minute walk to the 3rd St Promenade. Our daughter absolutely loved her first trip to the beach and this Hilton property and its staff had a lot to do with that! *Tip 1* Head to Trader Joes to stock up on booze for your room fridge. *Tip 2* They don't have a microwave on property to reheat leftovers or snacks. Plan accordingly.

I asked the bartender to leave the bottles on ice at the counter with some glasses so I could pour for my guests myself. He refused, insisting that he needed to pour the drinks. He then deliberately poured larger servings than I wanted, clearly trying to make us finish the bottles faster so we would buy more. When I asked him to pour less champagne, he laughed and said, "Oh, you want to maximize the bottle," which felt disrespectful and inappropriate--especially on my wedding day, and while everyone was already spending money on drinks. My brother-in-law paid for a couple of bottles of champagne, closed the check, signed it, and left. About an hour later, the same bartender came to me and asked me to pay for those bottles, claiming the check had never been closed and suggesting I ask my brother-in-law for the money. At that point, I was extremely upset because I personally saw my brother-in-law close and sign the check. After speaking with the manager, the truth came out: the bartender had mistakenly closed a different check using my brother-in-law's card. When he realized his error, instead of admitting it, he tried to cover it up and make me pay. This caused unnecessary stress and wasted time on what should have been one of the happiest days of my life. In addition, we had called in advance to ask if we could bring our own cake and were clearly told yes, it would not be a problem. However, when the cake arrived, we were suddenly told that outside food was not allowed. This contradiction added even more frustration for me and my guests. Because of this experience, neither I nor my guests will ever return to this place, no matter how nice the location is, unless that bartender is no longer working there. His behavior was unprofessional and disrespectful, and he should be focused on pleasing customers--not creating conflict. The manager was polite and cordial, but he should have addressed his employee's mistake directly instead of involving me during my wedding celebration.
