I went in with my cat to find out my cat had kidney problems but would be okay with proper food and medication. My cat was up and walking around my yard before I took my cat in. Long story short, I left my cat overnight to find my cat the next morning unable to stand. The vet gave no good explanatuon and wanted to put my cat down immediately. Even willing to come to my house later to do it. I ended up having to put my cat down and pay $1300 dollars in total when I left with my dead cat! They misdiagnose and cover up their mistakes. I can't even begin to describe how infuriating and traumatic our experience with Ocean Boulevard Veterinary Hospital has consistently been. If negative stars were possible, they would absolutely deserve them. Over the course of multiple visits, they have misdiagnosed our dog repeatedly, with their incompetence nearly costing him his life. On one occasion, they brushed off a serious issue as mere constipation, when in fact, he required emergency surgery. "Give him pumpkin," was their remedy, and he was admitted into the ICU that evening. If we hadn't sought a second opinion at Dove Lewis in Portland, our dog could have suffered even more--potentially with fatal consequences--due to their gross negligence. I've hesitated to write this review for some time, but there comes a point where this level of care is simply unacceptable. The absolute lack of professionalism and careless attitude of the two so-called veterinarians our pup has visited is absolutely shocking. It genuinely feels like these people hate animals. They handled our dog with such disdain and roughness that our normally gentle, non-aggressive pet became increasingly agitated and fearful with every visit. At one point, they even wrapped a twisted towel tightly around his neck, which made him so uncomfortable that he became aggressive, something we've never seen from him before. The entire environment at this clinic is nerve-wracking and hostile, which only escalates the anxiety and distress of both pets and owners. The veterinarians are rude, dismissive, and condescending, as if our concerns were an inconvenience to them. There's absolutely no empathy or compassion in this place--it feels more like a factory than a vet clinic, where pets are just numbers to be shuffled through as quickly as possible. They were always passive, never giving us clear answers or proper explanations, leaving us in constant worry and frustration. The stress they caused our family is unforgivable. We had hoped that after all the horrible experiences with Ocean Boulevard Veterinary Hospital, things would improve, but we were sorely disappointed again after trying to give them another chance. Our dog needed care and a check up, and we reluctantly gave them another chance, but it was an absolute mistake. Our appointment was scheduled for 4:00 P.M., but the doctor didn't bother to show up until 4:48 P.M.--almost an hour of waiting while our poor dog, who already has anxiety from his prior traumatic visits here, grew more and more stressed crying at the door as he wanted out. The environment is incredibly tense, which makes it unbearable for any pet, especially those who are already nervous. We thought maybe this time would be different, but the entire experience was as awful as the previous visits. The veterinarians are still rude, completely lacking empathy, and seem to have no desire to make the animals or their owners feel comfortable. Every time we've brought our fur baby here, we've deeply regretted it. It's heartbreaking that such an important place for care is run by people who appear to hate animals. The only decent person in the whole clinic is Tanisha at the front desk. She's kind, warm, and does her best to make you feel welcome, which unfortunately is the complete opposite of what happens in the actual vet room with veterinary doctors. After multiple misdiagnoses, long wait times, and a complete lack of compassion, we will never be coming back to this vet and if you care about your pet's well-being, do NOT bring them here. Please, for the sake of your beloved animals, stay far away from Ocean Boulevard Veterinary Hospital. They will endanger your pet's life, just like they almost did with ours. read more

TLTR: Ocean Boulevard has an history of misdiagnosing, pushing unnecessary surgeries, and firing clients who advocate for their animals. Ocean Boulevard gave my dog pain meds that gave her explosive diarrhea and then offered no other pain option after surgery. They misdiagnosed a cyst as cancer on my other dog. They insisted my dog had bleeding gums and severe dental issues without doing an exam; they said she has bad breath and that's how they knew. They manhandled her and then wrote that she 'refused services'; how does a dog refuse service? Then they sent me my records and stated they would no longer see my pets without notice or a conversation. They also misdiagnosed my neighbors dog RESULTING IN THREE UNECESSARY SURGERIES! We have vet records to prove this. So I went to Myrtle VH in Coquille and discovered that my dog has warts that were being seen as dental issues, has an emptied cyst that was being diagnosed as Cancer, does not in fact need a teeth cleaning at this time, does not have bad breath, and can be handled just fine when staff and doctors treat her gently. Because Coos Bay is a small town, Ocean Boulevard fires people from services any time there is a dispute or someone questions their diagnoses. They offer no acute appointments and will let your animal suffer until there's an opening in a week or two because there's an emergency vet in town at $800-$1000 a pop. Do not go there. It's worth getting to know Morgan Vet for emergencies and then tryng vets in other towns. Dont let Ocean Boulevard up-sale you into unnecessary surgeries and horrendous vet bills. read more

Dr. Hilary, Dr. New, and Dr. Wendy are all excellent, kind veterinarians and provide great medical advice and care for the pets they see. All of the staff are equally kind and proficient at what they do. Everyone at the clinic deeply cares about each animal that comes through their door. I have been bringing my pets to Ocean Boulevard Veterinary Hospital for several years and could not recommend another veterinary clinic or hospital in our region more than I do them. I've noticed that another reviewer has said that all they care about is money and that they are like "car salesmen". That couldn't be further from the truth. I have never experienced anyone at this veterinary hospital trying to "sell" me anything, unlike a couple of other area veterinarians that I will not name in this review. In my experience, the doctors at Ocean Boulevard will advise the best course of action for their patient, but they leave it up to the client to ultimately decide. If you wish to buy your meds from an online pharmacy, the doctors at this hospital are more than willing to send the prescription. You just have to ask. And in the case of the other reviewer's opinion, antibiotics are something that should be started as soon as possible. Waiting 3 days to a week for them to arrive from an online pharmacy will put your pet's health at risk. read more

I called these guys yesterday evening. My Frenchie was sneezing really bad, it was heart wrenching! My normal vet couldn't get us in for a week (we have been going there for 7 years). Not only did they work us in with an early AM appointment today, Dr. Wendy and her excellent staff made time to not only "squeeze him in" but performed a nasal flush the same day. We had never been here before. About 12:00 pm, Dr Wendy called personally to tell us Chunk was waking up fine and that she'd extracted a grass seed from his sinus. Dr. Wendy Labrousse is very professional and knowledgeable. This was our first visit to this office; we had previously taken our dog, Bandit, to another vet in North Bend. Wendy detected a couple of minor conditions which the other vet seemed to have missed. Neither is serious now, but early preventive care is always preferable to emergencies later on. Both Wendy and her assistant, Megan, were very gentle with our little guy - he needed two shots and a blood test and he didn't even blink. Ocean Blvd. Vet is only good for shots and spay/neuter surgeries. My dog has an extremely difficult, Painful medical condition and they kept telling me he "has a foreign object" in his foot. After a probing and a surgery still had the exact same problem and the Dr. told me Again that he has a foreign object in his foot. He does not! Then because of their lack of care and not getting him on the correct antibiotics my dog had a Seizure! I will never take any of my pets to this Vet ever again. They can't handle any medical problem that is difficult to treat, won't even try! And now because I advocated for my poor puppy they BANNED me from taking any of my dogs there. I will always do everything I can to make sure my dogs are healthy and happy and this Vet gets their feeling hurt if you disagree with them! Shame on them! read more

I simply can't recommend this place enough. Tho her staff has changed over the years, they are always caring and gentle; I know Dr. Wendy would never have it any other way ;) Her services aren't cheap. But, you'll get quality care from someone who is just plain awesome. I liked both her and Dr. Warner (before he retired) .... And, I have to say it takes a certain kind of vet to travel out to your house to visit an ailing pet. We did it this way when we had to euthanize my dog, and I'm still to this day grateful that they came out to our house to do this very difficult thing. It meant a lot for all of us to be in comfortable surroundings, and they definitely made a bad situation less traumatic. Her offices are always clean, friendly and inviting. She has a wonderful way about her; both listens and empathizes well. I love how she never pressured me to do FeLV shots for my indoor cat (other vets have & would). I also love the way she brought my cat back from being almost gone one morning after he had a bad reaction to anesthesia. We took him to Morgan Veterinary (ER on call) and were told to give him a sedative and put him in a dark room (!) - NOT! Dr. Wendy gave him the (correct) urgent care he needed, and got him onto a medicine regimen that catered to a number of different issues we then realized he had, including congestive heart failure. That was years ago, and he is still going strong as ever! Better actually! My gratitude for this woman is ENDLESS, and I only wish I could've brought her with me to the other side of the country where we are now. I would go back to her in a heartbeat if we ever move back to Coos Bay. read more

This business is a model of how a veterinary hospital should be run. Dr Wendy is incredible, and her entire staff is knowledgeable, helpful, and above all caring. Just last week my small, 7lb dog was scheduled for a spay. One of her team members noticed she was bleeding a bit more than a dog normally would after her blood was drawn for pre-op blood work. Instead of dismissing it and carrying on, they stopped entirely, called me, and together we decided what to do next. It's ended up that my little lady dog has a severe clotting disorder and the spay she was scheduled for wouldn't have gone well. I love my pets so dearly and with any other vet I would have been worried sick when I dropped my dog off for her spay, but I knew Wendy and her team would provide the best possible care for my furry family members. And I was right. I've lived in several major cities across the county but Wendy and her team are the best I've ever seen and we are blessed to have them in our small community. read more

All they care about is money. I took my cat in there for the first time because she had an eye infection. I knew she needed the required shots, as she found me, before they would see her. They are like car salesman but worse. Proposed a $300 visit. Um no. I left paying $200. I left not feeling good about the visit. They didn't seem to care about my financial situation. The antibiotic they gave me at the clinic was $67. It's $25 on chewy.com. Any good vet would have suggested that. Shouldn't the interest be in the animals welfare? Shelley was so sweet to us when I brought my puppy in to get neutered, and she was there for us for all of our post-op questions and concerns. Maggie is simply wonderful with my dog. And Dr Wendy is so caring and compassionate. When I brought my puppy in for his first visit, she sat down with us and went over toy and feeding dos and don'ts. I discovered our dog had an ear infection at 3am on Saturday morning when he wouldn't stop shaking his head. Did some frantic interneting and ended up leaving an email for their office. They called me as soon as they opened on Saturday and got our dog in that day. We've been going back ever since! When we got our puppy last winter, we made an appointment asap to get him checked out and get his puppy shots. They are very gentle and seem to really love animals. Could not have been nicer and more caring. "Penny" got better and we got back on the road. (Great seafood in Coos Bay BTW). I saw that review from Connie. I can't imagine she visited the same clinic we did. I think she is mistaking... I did read an article some months ago about a problem on Yelp with people who do this and its hard to resolve the problem. Oh well. Look, we have visited veterinarians outside of the Dallas area many times on trips. Coos Bay is lucky to have Dr. Labrousse and this hospital and she deserves praise for her work and dedication. Dr. Campbell is the BEST! I recently brought my new kitten in, who was completely unsocialized to anyone but me since I had rescued her from what would have been a short and feral life. Piper was so nervous at first but Dr. Campbell went above and beyond to earn her trust, entering the room with wet food that she actually heated in the microwave to make it extra pungent and inviting for her. Got her so comfortable to where once she gave her all of her shots, she was purring and content. She earned my baby girl's trust, thereby earning mine. At our follow up a couple weeks later for her booster, Piper was very quickly at ease with her, so her shot was no trouble at all. The front office staff, as well as their techs are all warm and welcoming. The lobby is clean and inviting, with many useful products for sale. Top to bottom, this place is great! read more

We have been taking our dog Larry here since 2011. They have cared for him through illnesses, surgery, dental cleaning, and routine exams. Our most recent visit was last week, when Larry developed severe diarrhea and vomiting. It was almost 9:00 PM on Friday when I finally called them. The answering service took my number, and Dr. Wendy called me back within a few minutes. A half hour later, she and one of her staff met us at the clinic. They put Larry on IV fluids and antibiotics and kept him overnight. He is now recovering nicely at home. Dr. Wendy has called a couple of times to check on him. The staff are all very caring and straightforward. We tried most of the other vets in town before finding Ocean Boulevard Veterinary Hospital, and they are a level above the others. Another thing I appreciate about them is that they cheerfully approve prescriptions that I order from online pharmacies not affiliated with Ocean Boulevard Veterinary Hospital. That saves me about 50% on the cost of dog meds. read more

These guys are fantastic! I was on vacation with my two dogs. My younger guy (2.5 year old yellow English Labrador) got very sick overnight - throwing up constantly for about 6 hours. I called the hospital and explained the situation. Without hesitation they told me to come in as soon as I could and they would work me in. I arrived at 9:30 and was taken to a room. The staff was very caring, asked a lot of questions and then presented three plans of action. All of this was complicated by the fact that we were set to leave town the next day! They kept all the factors in mind and helped me make a decision. While it ultimately just turned out to be a case of 'Labrador Garbage gut' they did everything right. These people are the absolute best. We are here visiting and our dog was injured playing with a stick on the beach. They told us to bring her right in. Dr Becky and her staff were awesome. We were seen within minutes and she and her staff were compassionate and caring. There are not many veterinarians open on the weekend and the ones who are usually have a fully booked schedule. Dr. Becky took her time and explained the injury and our options. She did a thorough exam even though she was very busy and it was near their closing time. I am new to the area and I asked around to many people what vet I should go to and they all said Ocean Blvd. I took my nervous Nancy dog Riley to see Dr. Wendy and she is amazing. I have been battling allergies for a year now and who knew it was a simple allergy to dog food. Changed the food and its only been three days but hes a whole new dog. I found her services to be quite affordable. I called around town to see what everyone else charged for a office visit and it was way more than here. She is very kind and considerate and actually takes the time to talk to you and not being rushed out of the office. Thanks to all the staff there as they are all wonderful. The patience of the staff with our dogs and kids is amazing. My wife and I will never take our animals to anyone else. Dr Wendy and Dr New are compassionate and gentle and the tech's are just as loving. Tanisha the receptionist is kind and friendly and the whole place has a family feel. They treat your animals as though they are a member of their family and their main goal is the health and safety of your pets, not extra procedures to rack up your bill, unlike other places in town. Since I originally drafted this review, our cat had an abcess that invaded his bone. I took my cat here the first time several months ago. Had so many good reports and found everyone to be friendly and helpful. Second time was the same. Was so happy. Then this week cat took a turn for the worse from kidney failure and needed to be put to sleep and they wouldn't have appt until over a week. Called twice more and wouldn't take us and third day said to come that afternoon. By this time cat was dying and needed to be put to sleep. I took cat to another vet office and they were wonderful and compassionate. When I called OceanBlvd to tell them I didn't need the appointment , Tanisha said okay and hung up. I couldn't believe this was the same person. Never any concern for suffering cat or help at all. They made an unbearable situation worse than it had to be. They didn't mind taking hundreds of dollars for tests but minded coming through when we really needed it. So disappointed. read more

Dr. Wendy and Dr. New are terrific. My husband and I have a house in Coos Bay and come up for the summer. We have 2 dogs, my lab and my cockapoo. My lab was not doing well and I stopped in Ocean Blvd. Vet office and they took me right away, examined Lucy and found out she had 2 tumors, one in her mouth and one on the side of her face. They did surgery and she's so much better. They have been following up with her until we go back home to CA. Gizmo, my other dog, was just diagnosed with diabetes and they will be taking care of him too. Both Dr. Wendy and Dr. New are so kind and caring. The staff is super too. They make a fuss over the dogs and just love them up. The office is clean and friendly. I would recommend Ocean Blvd Veterinary to anyone. Just love them!!!!!! read more
