We were so lucky to have choosen a VASCA next door to this place. We brought our dog with us, but the purpose of our trip was to clean out my mom's storage unit. It was great to be able to get our fur babby pampered while we got some work in. They were able to take us right away, and finshed quickly. She came home with shorter nails, and cute bandana, and smelling much better. It is a married couple that runs it, and there were friendly and did a good job on our pouch. read more

Wonderful place for dog grooming. Located across form Hospice thrift store on Mead. Only took an hour and I could pick her up. She loved it. Although she had never been to a groomer in her life. She came out happy as can be. Nails trimmed, glands emptied, ears clean. Bandana on and perfumed. Will be going monthly for a discounted rate. Dog Star Grooming is the best! They are always kind and calm with my lab/shepherd mix who is anxious and not great with other dogs. My dog is a bit of a handful to say the least! They brush her out, trim her claws and do the best job brushing her teeth. Her tartar build up is noticeably better. She smells great and is very soft when we get her back. the owner is a liar. my dog has a short coat i didn't want her trimmed but they did it anyway. her fur can not get matted. take responsibility for your screw ups. you are a bad groomer. you hacked my dog to bits. and also i am not a sir my pronouns are she/her. do not take your dogs here. when i entered the stinky "waiting room" which is really just a front porch, i could hear the man yelling at a dog i should've walked out right then and there but my fur baby had a photo shoot coming up and i needed her to look nice. you also did cut her nails far to short, there was literally blood. learn to take accountability. read more

I love Adam and Jaime and so does Maggi. She gets so excited when we drive up to their place. She knows right where we are and she starts making noise the minute we park. She can't wait to get in the door and she just gets so excited when she sees Adam, but when she hears Jaime's voice, watch out cause she is making a mad dash to jump up in her lap!! Used to take our babies here to have nails cut and buffed . Lee did an EXCELLENT job! In October 2020, we had an appointment and when we arrived , we saw a sign, placed by the owner, NOT Lee that stated a derogatory remark about President Trump supporters. I will NEVER return to such a unprofessional place of business again and am SOOOO glad Lee moved on to a more professional surrounding and wish her all the luck in the world . She's excellent with our whiny , adorable Pitts and we will definitely follow and support her. Ignorance and unprofessionalism is NOT attractive, Dog Star owners. read more

I just got back from taking my 50 pound mix to these guys for a bath, and so far, I am very impressed. (I will update this review if issues develop). My dog's skin dries out easily, and she is prone to hot spots. Consequently, I try to make sure she gets unscented shampoo and moisturizers. The last place I took her completely ignored my requests, charged me more and sent her home smelling like a rose and scratching like crazy. The Dog Star staff, on the other hand, explained his entire process of pre-conditioning, washing, and conditioning again; gave me a run-down of the moisturizing options, their organic cleansers, and generally everything else an over-protective dog-mom wants to know. Win #1. Frequently, upon pick up from boarding or grooming, I can tell how much Maggie hated it by how happy she is to see me (happier = hated the place more/get me out of here!). She was completely relaxed when I came in, and even wanted to stop and smell things in the front room, rather than run out the door as fast as possible. Win #2. The business is located in downtown North Bend, behind the Hospice store. It's in a converted house, which I missed the first time going by because there's a flashier office with a fountain next door. It's small and not super shiny, but it felt clean and comfortable to me, and more importantly, to Maggie. She didn't even wait for me to leave before she headed down the hall to explore. (this never happens.) Win #3. Finally, included in the bath was glands, ears and nail clipping - 50$ for a relatively calm, large dog. They even trimmed the fuzz around her toes. She is currently asleep on the floor, not remotely itchy or stressed out. Win#4. I will update this review if anything changes, but based on immediate results, I wholeheartedly recommend them. FYI - cash or check only. They don't do cards. read more

We've used Dog Star a couple of times. They are super friendly and our dog loved the groomer. Price was very reasonable considering what is included. Glands, nails, bath and haircut. They also listen to what you want, instead of doing what they think is needed. They also do not over book, dogs are only there during their grooming and while waiting for pickup. Only down side is No Cards, bring check or cash. Like the other reviewer said, look for a house set back from the street. Wish I had found Dog Star before I let the place on Newmark in CB wreck our dog! read more

Friendly people, We are traveling and they got us in right away. Asked what exactly we needed done on our one dog that needs to be groomed. I appreciated this, also was able to delete cologne and add teeth brushing. Very reasonable, they had the "kids" done in an hour. I've been taking my Havanese to Dog Star for about 8 yrs each summer when we stay @ Windy Bay. Jamie is the best groomer I've used in 9+ yrs - unfortunately, she's located in a different state! I like the way they treat the dogs, don't overbook, use excellent products, give excellent haircuts, get dogs in/out quickly, fair prices, etc. They are the BEST! read more

They charged us $200 for our two big Golden Retrievers. Really?!?! $200!!! I've had these dogs for over 10 years and have NEVER paid more than $130 for the two of them together. It's not like they were super dirty either, hadn't been rolling in the mud or playing at the beach. Can't say the cute scarves and the small bag of treats was worth that much more. read more

i took my sweet & gentle 49.5 pound dog who is being trained to be a service dog - when i got him back he had bloody paws because his nails had been way over trimmed - his short tail was red & raw from metal teeth of the clippers & also down his right leg - my dog was over powered by the young woman who did the hair cutting, after about a week, the trauma to his spirit is starting to go down - nice people to me but if you have a bigger dog, find another place to go - they say on their card" POMERANIANS are our speciality ! I wish we had found this place sooner before letting the terrible groomer on Newmark traumatize and injure our dogs. Not only do they listen to you, provide all the grooming services needed all while loving on the dogs. This is the first time that any of our dogs weren't shaking and ready to run out the door when we picked them up. Reasonable rates and they don't cram in as many appointments as they can in a day so your dog receives their undivided attention. Absolutely love this place. read more

Dog Star was recommended by an acquaintance who has his Schnauzer groomed there. Jamie seemed very knowledgeable and we assumed she would be doing the haircut. Our 12 lb. 3 year old Schnauzer has been groomed every 5-6 weeks at home. Sometimes, as we travel, by different groomers who comment on how well she stands. HOWEVER, when we picked her up at Dog Star, a different woman had done the haircut and her beard was not as we had requested but we let that go. She had the cute little neckerchief on and later that evening she kept scratching so I removed it. OMG...underneath was not 1 but 3 "clipper burns" right down into her skin!!! I know accidents happen but blades should be checked for dullness, settings on depth and heat. They could have at least told us, offered some advice on treatment, etc. and not just hide it. It has been 2 weeks of vet consultation, treatment and she has been miserable. Will we return to Dog Star? Absolutely not!!!! read more
