My advice to families with kids**: I've noticed earlier in the morning for breakfast and brunch they don't card, but to keep the environment for what it is, keep it adults only. It's not set up for children. I'm not being an asshole, it's a sincere recommendation. It's a bar. Adults 21+: take your ID. I've seen several reviews below of people complaining couldn't enter to "just eat" without their ID. So bring your ID, its simple. It's a bar. The breakfast: Rocking!! Love the smoked salmon eggs benedict. It's usually my go-to. I ask for the hollondais sauce on the side. I only eat the breakfast menu, sorry I can't speak on the other parts of the menu. This place has AWEFUL service, everyone was incompetent from hostesses to the servers and managers. The server brought out a drink that wasn't ordered and so my lunch guest felt bad about the servers mistake and didn't want to send it back and when it was knocked over at full brim instead of replacing it they said no one saw what happened and they didn't believe us (though there was a puddle of liquid on the deck) and said we lied. When I asked to speak to the general manager about the poor service and not even being served or offered water on a hot day the bar worker claimed to be the most senior manager refused the request. Also, upon arrival the hostess was extremely confused about the process concerning our request to sit outside when there was yet to be a vacancy and I had to point out there was an open table that needed to just be bussed. VERY BAD food too, PORTY-POTTIES for bathrooms-- gross!!!!!!! I've also been informed they have pending lawsuits as they've unconscionably overserved people drinks who have died immediately after leaving their estsblishment-- do not support this dump! Good overall experience. Super chill and relaxed vibe with a fantastic view. Tried the fish tacos which were not fried or grilled, but actually poached in white wine and garlic. They were tender and juicy and very flavorful. It was unexpected and a generous yet perfect portion size along with the sides. We were so impressed with the Ocean Mist venue as a perfect live most space, an incredibly well-run restaurant, and lastly, a welcoming local breakfast, lunch and dinner, hang-out for all ages! The night we went I had requested reserved seating because we were driving from PA to RI. I'm disabled and my knees are bone on bone and extremely painful. I'm not sure how we've made it this far in life without reviewing the ocean mist. We've come here countless times over the years and it's solid south county staple. Ticket tuesdays got me through college and the countless awesome times here throughout the summers can't be beat. Their breakfast is awesome, I highly recommend the breakfast burrito. It's huge!!Some of the breakfast drinks can be pricy, so stick with what you know and love. My mom's a huge fan of the crabby benny, she says it's "egg-celent." The location can't be beat and the service is usually spot on. One of my favorite places in south county. Things to try - the breakfast burrito and bloody marys are a must. Sit on the deck and have a drink! Ticket tuesday, try it at least once even if you're boring. Her guest was clearly embarrassed - and he apologized to the waiter and told told him he'd be back - but not with her. He left without her. Our experience - same waiter- he was so cool, attentive and the food was great. Susan asking the waiter "Where are the Asians?" Then replying herself , "they're at the university." Was super awkward. Stopped in here while visiting Rhode Island for the weekend for brunch. First and foremost, the bar is great. It has amazing views and the inside bar area, which obviously was closed due to covid is very cool and seems like a great place to see a live show. Couple of things were weird. We were there at 11:30 and I ordered a BBQ sandwich, which was recommended. The waiter told me they don't do lunch until noon, so we had to wait until noon to place the order. Annoying and dumb. Brunch is suppose to be a combo of lunch and dinner. When the food finally arrived it wasn't very good. The pork was soggy and flavorless. Sandwich pretty much fell apart. We also ordered wings which were OK at best. Mostly dry. If not for the views and cool setup this review would probably be lower. The wife and I took my son for breakfast. While we know how good the food, the drinks and the view are... we requested hot sauce with our meal. The waiter brought out the "rack" of various hot sauces. One was far superior than the rest. A "Nachomama" chipotle sauce. We checked the label, looked up the website. And nada. My son asked the waiter what's the deal? With a brief explanation of "who knows" this guy went into the attic, grabbed two more bottles, and gave them to us. No fee. No hardship. No nothing. UGHH THIS PLACE!!! One of my favorite places in the world. I went to college at URI so I used to come here a lot, but I hadn't been to gansett/O Mist in some time, so it was great getting back here. I came here Saturday morning during MDW for brunch and had the best time. I was nervous that we were going to have to wait like an hour or something to get in here since it was a holiday weekend, and I was prepared to do so, since I really wanted to come here. We would have went to the beach and walked around for a little while, could be worse ;) BUT when we arrived, it wasn't busy at all. We were able to be seated right away (party of 2) and better yet, we were able to be seated outside, right along the water - doesn't get better than that. We started w mimosas which are a really great size. None of that cute champagne flute glass shit, they were served in big plastic cups so you got a lot, and they were v bubbly and delicious. I ordered the breakfast quesadilla and it was delicious and huge, I couldn't finish it. Also served w yummy home fries. The menu here is really great, a ton of great options with a lot being Mexican inspired which is my favorite. One thing to note, is it is all street parking right along both sides of the road, so just be prepared for that. Easy to get a spot, you may just have to walk a lil. Aside from the food, this place is just the best. Literally sitting ON the water with waves crashing below you, what else do you need. The vibes and the people are just so chill. Nope but its pretty close to describing Ocean Mist. Ocean Mist is on the water with a sound stage, a back deck open to the water and a big bar in front of the stage. I walk in and the place is hoppin'! There was no live music playing during Wednesday night, bummer. Its ok because there's beer is on tap and then there's that million dollar view. I had reservations for 4 and requested outdoor/ocean view seating. The wait was 40 minutes so we deceided to order drinks in the meantime while we waited for a table. I went up to the host stand to let her know and she mentions, that we are unable to move once we sat down...after we had already sat down. That wouldve been nice to know beforehand but whatever, we were fine with sitting. Our server was INCREDIBLY SLOW! It took her 20+ minutes to get our drinks and she forgot one of them. We ordered apps of nachos and they came out about 35 minutes to come out. It was the equivalent of ordering consession stand nachos at a college football game. The salsa consisted of chunked up tomatoes, thats it. I would rate the food a 2/10. Then we ordered food. It took over an hour for 2 lobster rolls, a quesadilla and a salad. I originally ordered shimp on my salad and no tomatoes but then the server comes back 25 minutes later to inform me she couldnt do shrimp actually (does she even know the menu?) No big deal though, I ordered steak medium instead. Well after waiting an additional 30 minutes, I receive my meal and the steak is completely brown and well done. Also there were a ton of tomatoes on top of my steak.... I let her know and she didnt even apologize. She just asked if I wanted another one. I said I didnt feel like waiting another hour for my meal. I had to ask her to take it off the bill, which I never do! I just think to myself, can this server get anything right? She kept forgetting to bring waters, napkins, and to split the bill correctly (between 2 people) as well. I eat out at a lot of restaurants and this was probably the top 3 worst experiences I ever had. I have been a server for 5 years so I understand how it works and this was just inexcusable. I understand that the server isnt always responsible for the poor food quality or their mess ups but there was no reason for the poor customer service. The server only had 4 tables and everyone around us was complaining. This one woman even came over to me to ask if it has been slow for our group too. The serving assistants aka bussers did more work for us and were more friendly than our server. I will never recommend this place or come back. read more

This place is nuts! Its always packed and full of so much energy. We went on a Sunday evening and they had a band playing, a line to get in and plenty of drinks to go around. We were meeting a friend and couldn't think of a more fun place than the Ocean Mist. Situated literally over the ocean with waves crashing beneath. I opt to stay out on the back patio with all the amazing ocean views and try not to venture to far inside as it is a completely different venue that the ocean front patio. Its part bar, part restaurant, part concert venue and part shit show! But man is it fun! The food actually looks pretty good and maybe someday I will get a chance to try it but for now, I can only comment on the rum punches which pack a good punch lol. read more

The view gets 100 stars. The service usually involves grouchy bartenders, who are obviously over their jobs, but at least they're pretty fast with a drink. The food is mediocre, sadly. It used to be 10 stars, you could always count on one of their staples like the fish sandwich to be fresh, crispy, with good fries, and coleslaw, not this time unfortunately. The chicken wings were delicious, cooked well and seasoned well, they were the highlight of our seven dishes we shared, split amongst the six of us. We ordered nachos, they were just okay, so skimpy on the cheese??? Why? You order nachos for the cheese!! Thankfully the guacamole saved the day, it was fresh and delicious. But the fish sandwiches were so disappointing, as we bit into them, looking out at the ocean view... we thought, they should be fresh, and they were all old tasting, soggy, not that delicious crisp texture, fries were soggy, cold, coleslaw was gross. Coleslaw is the easiest thing in the world to make, it's cheap and easy, how can you screw up coleslaw? The burrito was okay, not a lot of flavor, mostly beans, rice, dry... but thank goodness the drinks were strong and the view was amazing, as always. And they were playing good music, so overall it's a dreamy, dive bar type of place. The view alone makes it worthwhile. Thank you to the owner who pours money into securing that sea wall, I've been watching you do this for over 22 years, and I want to say, you're a hero. We were staying just down the road and were able to walk over for breakfast. It was busier than you might expect at 9 am, especially for a beach bar. It over looks a surfer haven, so there was a small group there watching the surfers. By the time we left, this place was hopping and when we drove by an hour or so later, there was a line up the side. Lots of college kids with a few groups of older adults and even a family or two. We sat on the deck overlooking the water. Breakfast was great. I had the Vegetarian Huevos and my husband got the Matunuck Border. The veggie hash was perfect and they offered up hot sauce and brought a flight of bottles to choose from. There was so much French toast on my husband's plate and he only ate half. I had a Bloody Mary that was not too spicy. We tried to pop in for a drink the night before but they had a band and a cover, so we opted not to. We would have tried for dinner later that day, but we needed up on a schedule that didn't work. On street parking only and it's pretty busy if it's a nice day because there are so many surfers. I had extremely high hopes for this place. I went there on 11/17/20 at night. First off, I loved the hostess. She was great. She was probably my favorite part of this place. We started with a male server that switched us to a female server after getting our drinks. The female was much better at making drinks. The food was basic. I think this place has such high ratings because of their patio. Maybe it was an off night that I went? We got nachos... my boyfriend and his friends were not happy with them at all. Then we got 3 burgers and the lobster quesadilla. I was super happy with the lobster quesadilla, but my boyfriend said it was just okay. No table jumping and health regulations read prior to being able to remove masks. They had hand sanitizers on all tables and gave plastic utensils that were disposed of after eating. I drove past this restaurant a couple of times, and it was always crowded to the point where there was no more seating available. The restaurant is pretty big with a bar, indoor seating, and a lot of outdoor seating. However, there is less indoor seating now due to Covid19. We came to Ocean Mist for dinner, but also found out they serve breakfast, as well. The restaurant is literally located right on top of the beach so the views are awesome. The theme of the restaurant is a beach bar casual. Once we were seated, we had amazing service. The menus had seafood, American fare, including Steaks and Burgers, there was also very good Mexican food. So they had everything, basically. We received our food about 10 minutes after we ordered which was very fast considering how crowded they were. The food was very good and better than expected; on a scale from 1 to 10 the food would be a 8 or so for me. The only reason the restaurant is not 5 stars is because of the bathroom. Which was very disgusting; time to send in a cleaning crew. But, I cant say that that interfered with the experience. I will definitely be coming back soon.
