mike saved me from a botched nose piercing job I got just minutes before I walked into his shop. Had a huge 12 yr old piece that wrapped all the way around my hips. Did painstaking research to find competent artist to touch up and brighten it. After 10 hrs under the buzzing needles I walked out of that shop (not All Star) w/ a MESS! I'll spare you the unhappy details, just say muddy sloppy work and many tears. Had no faith it could be saved, resigned to carrying ugly art forever. I was wrong. SCRATCH THAT! The "surgical stainless steel" earring disintegrated in my ear and completely infected the piercing on that side. I was able to order some new real stainless steel earrings and after replacing it and giving my ear some TLC (ie salt water soaks) it recovered but my skin is sensitive so this was important. I wish this place used better materials because they were fine otherwise. read more

I made an impulsive decision to get my nipples pierced on Saturday. Luckily they take walk ins. I trusted this place since I had already gotten my nose pierced here years before. Justin was great! I think he could tell I was a little nervous but kept me calm and talked to me the whole way through. He marked the area he was going to pierce and had me check it out, then he went in. He asked me after each nipple if I was okay and reminded me that I could ask him to stop at anytime if I was in too much pain. I allowed him to take pictures for his portfolio and he gave me an aftercare sheet and his information if I had any questions or concerns. Everyone here is very sweet and professional. The place is clean and when I finally decide to get my belly button pierced next, I'll come here again. I don't trust anyone else! I been looking around at shops near my pad and around and decided to check out Venice as a possibility. They had about 4 spots there, but the one that I thought seemed good was here at All Star. I looked through some books and saw some cool designs. The artist Jon said he can make any pic unique and come to life. Trusting him, I let him do his bit on my calf. 4 hours and pain later, I fell in love with it. I am so happy with it. I have 2 others and this one takes the cake. I'm from Atlanta, Ga and I came to Cali for a few days. I thought it would be cool to get my bellybutton pierced while I was here since I planned on getting it next month for my 18th birthday. I first went to a place on Sunset and was told that along with my parent consent I would need my birth certificate. Anyway I went down to Venice and read the reviews from yelp and walked in. I was really nervous and still unsure but I talked to the guy for a second and he was very helpful and also just needed parent consent. It cost me $40 and then I bought a small bottle of cleaner for $10. The piercing took one minute and it looks great! The pain wasn't even that bad it was just sore a little after but nothing unbearable. Overall the place was really clean and nice compared to some others on Venice Beach. The guy who pierced me was nice, helpful, and experienced since I was only in there for a total of maybe 15-20mins. He even gave me his card so that when I go home I can call for questions. I've gotten two nose piercings here and have brought a friend and my mom here for piercings as well because I love these guys! They're very friendly, informative, quick, and will make you feel comfortable -- they don't rush you and want you to feel happy with the new addition to your body and that you spent your money well. Just a note that the piercers (or at least Mike) don't do septum nose piercings. My friend was considering one, but ended up getting a second lobe piercing instead since it wasn't an option. There's also free parking in their private lot in the back, a major plus! read more

Went in yesterday cuz I got my State tax return...Showed the owner what I wanted ( Gealic Script) on my forearm...he hooked me up with Enrique... he drew it up and then went to work on my tat...It turned out friggin Awesome,, clean,neat,excellent....HAHAHAHHA...just got my federal tax return today...went back to Enrique to get more work done on my other forearm. I went to see Myke after reading great reviews on here for a piercing. At first the shop is a little intimidating. People getting tatted up as I'm scared about a little tragus piercing! Myke was really attentive and made me feel really comfortable during the whole process. The hoop he used was disinfected and the needle and forceps were in autoclaved bags which is a must. I work in health care and am super cautious and particular about things like this. He did the piercing with accuracy and quickly!! Burned for a quick second but that was it! As soon as I met Mikey and showed him what I wanted, I knew he was the guy for the job before I even looked at some of his work. He is very knowledgeable and immediately inspired confidence that he would do a great job. I had Mikey do a very complex tattoo of a military style patch. He did an absolutely awesome job and was able to help with color choices, best placement and most importantly nailed the definition of each item involved in the patch. Had a great experience! Walked in to get my ears pierced -2 cartilage and 2 on each lobe - and was welcomed by friendly staff in a clean location. Justin pierced them and was very friendly. It was a bit pricier than I was originally thinking, but piercing/tattoos are not really where I would bargain hunt.
