The place was dim-lit with the typical serene music playing in the background. We got a "Couples 60 minute massage with Sea Salt and Hot Stones." The sign in process was seamless and we were immediately brought into our massage rooms for a couple's massage. The masseuse asked us our sensitivity level for our : my partner - soft, medium and myself - hard. My partner had Fay and I had Judy work on us. I would DEFINITELY recommend this place. When I called to book my appointment, I had a horrible sinking feeling in my stomach and was not looking forward to coming at all. The person who answered the phone, who I assume is the owner and manager, was very rude. She demanded that I paid her the Groupon price directly, as if this is how it works at all. I had to repeat myself over and over again that if I liked the services I was happy to return. Well, the day came and we arrived early. The employees, two females, were not aware of our appointment at all but still took us in after a lot of back and forth screaming and messaging with the boss lady. Massage room wasn't anything special, but the massage itself was actually pretty decent! No music, lights on, massage ladies screaming aside, I didn't hate the massage. I requested 2 massages. The spa is is located in a plaza in Pleasanton. First, when we entered there was no receptionist to greet us. I was fine waiting since we were 15 minutes early. I heard someone speaking in Chinese, Mandarin, Taiwanese, something of the like. Then one lady acknowledged us, but she called another lady to talk to us. I told the lady about the services we wanted and she told me the price. She asked what method of payment we would be doing I said card. She showed me they have a $5 surcharge for cards. Which I was ok with. I was going to pay for 1 massage with my money. But when I said I'm also using Groupon like everyone's experience here I had a bad one. The lady kept insisting I come back tomorrow which is Friday, which I retorted, "What if I don't come back?" I booked the massages for a specific day for a reason. She told me to call her boss and I got no answer. Funny because the number I called, called me 3 times prior to coming for my appointment. Rather than relax this place made me more upset and frustrated. I will never come back here again. Please do not waste your time, money, and energy going here. I'd consider changing my review if I get compensation for coming here, improve their service or apologize. Ps. The next day I went to White Elephant Thai Massage (downtown Pleasanton) and the ambience and customer service was 10/10. Anytime I call to make an appointment the owner always asks "how did you hear about us" if you say through Groupon she demands that we pay the Groupon price up front instead of purchasing it through the Groupon website. I called the other day to make an appointment and she had open availability for the time I asked for. I told her I saw a Groupon for x amount of dollars and she said no, that's not how much it really is. It's regularly $140 but Groupon is $120 (the Groupon was $97 at the time) . As soon as I told her that she said "actually we're really busy we don't have time today". Then she said "actually we're busy all week and don't accept Groupons for certain hours". I told her that those rules aren't on the Groupon, then she acted like she didn't know what I was talking about. I love the massages so this is nothing against the masseuses, this complain is for the owner and her husband. Run your business better and don't have your word of mouth for your business on Groupon if you're not selling it the right way. When I first arrived they were not aware of our appointment, they were highly upset we purchased our couples massage through Groupon, they insisted we pay them the full fee via Zelle instead. The massage therapist were not trained, nor do I believe they have their license in massage therapy. The massages were terrible, the ambiance was tense, they kept walking in and out of the room and was aggressive and painful during the massage. As we were getting ready to leave, there were 3 ladies standing in the front and were arguing on the phone with the boss who also was asking for us to pay through Zelle, they also were rude and demanded we tip them. A lady was hovering over my phone to see what amount I was sending. After leaving really intense massage, we walked out to yelling and demands of payment. Overall our experience was terrible. After our first massage we came back a few times and I even sent my patients from work there. BIG MISTAKE! this last time we went we were overcharged and then one of the girls DEMANDED a tip and was not going to let us leave (my wallet was in the car). Then she kept pushing to take a picture of my banking app on my phone as proof that it was sent or something. She was extremely rude and pushy and the person I am assuming is the owners husband was rude too! So let me just say this... 1. A tip is NOT mandatory. TIPS actually stands for- to insure proper service. If a person does not feel like leaving a tip there is probably a good reason. A worker is not entitled to anything besides their pay. Tips are additional benefits for good service. 2. You are in the service/hospitality industry! Treat your customers with a little more respect as they are the ones literally funding your life. 3. Give people more than 30 seconds to get undressed/redressed before knocking on the door a million times. It makes people anxious and feel like they are being rushed. 4. Get someone to work the front (who has the capability to communicate and understand English/other languages competently) and have that be their only job. A receptionist/host type deal. 5. If the concern is getting a tip add the price of it into the base price of the massage as a gratuity and disclose it to the customer. Overall it was a super disappointing and infuriating experience that left a sour taste in my mouth. If I could give back the massage and get my money back I 100% would in an instant but I can tell from the behavior of the owner and staff that isn't going to happen... we WILL NOT be coming back or recommending this business to others anymore. read more

I had the most uncomfortable and unprofessional experience at this place. They are money hungry and were pressuring me to leave a tip to the masseuse. Not that I didn't want to but she claimed it was too little prior to receiving massage. I had planned to tip the masseuse after the experience but even afterwards, she was hounding me to leave an additional tip. If you ever try to use a Groupon from them they tell you to not buy a Groupon and to just pay cash at the spa. They became hostile, demanded to know why we used Groupon, and claimed they don't accept vouchers on weekends (which was nowhere in the fine print).
