All well seasoned and plentiful. I tried a couple of the deserts and was pleasantly surprised as most buffets have very pretty but tasteless deserts. They were very good- just sweet enough! Unfortunately there were no spring rolls but everything I ate was very tasty. The clientele was pretty decent too- not overly crowded for a Friday evening- I can't wait to go again.

Typically places pass along the cost by adjusting their prices but this, it's another way to pass along your costs to your customers. This will make be think twice about coming so I'll be looking for another seafood spot sadly. Just be prepared to pay the transaction fee that was not automatic which can add up on large orders, even small even your hard earned dollars are spent.

The banana pudding was diabolical, such disrespect to good southern grub. The potato salad was plain as hell, just tasted like eggs and Mayo (no seasonings on most of the food) The carrot cake was dry, and cheesecake had no crust and the strawberry topping is artificial. If you're going for the seafood boil, the shrimp on that is so over cooked, and the muscles are too chewy. You're not going to enjoy it. I don't know how this place is still open. If you're looking for a polished, upscale soul food experience, this isn't that kind of place. That said, the food is solid. I had the fried chicken, collard greens, fried okra, broccoli cheese casserole, and hot water cornbread. Bonus points for the hot water cornbread--it was phenomenal and not easy to find at restaurants. The fried chicken alone is worth the visit. I went with a friend who ordered the pig tails and absolutely loved them. While my meal was good overall, the atmosphere was lacking. The setup is cafeteria-style, and you choose between paying by weight or opting for an all-you-can-eat option. If you're focused on flavor over frills and want comforting, well-seasoned soul food--especially standout fried chicken--Ashford Kitchen delivers. Just come for the food, not the vibe.
