Vince and Al took me, a first time west coast fisher, out near Elephant Rock to fish for salmon. I went with 5 kind gentlemen and we talked about recipes, various fish stories, and nautical electronic equipment. Bagged myself a ~30 and ~20 pounder salmon and even passed my third hook to someone else to reel in! After returning to the dock Vince and Al filetted my fishes and sent me home with the biggest most heaviest doggie bag ever! Next time it will be for other fish and crab on Miss Anita once again.

The captain of the boat is very fun, extremely good, and very experienced. The boat is pretty big and it can hold a maximum capacity of 40+ people. We have only 20s people on the boat. We have a lot of free area on the deck. The captain knows the area very well and he is steering the boat and stop right at the spots where he knows there is a lot of fishes. We all have our limits before noontime. The boat stopped several times on the way back to the pier to pick up the crab cages we dropped off earlier and wow! All the cages were filled with crabs. We are so happy to have our limited of the crabs too. I loved the results. We had the best seafood dinner experience at the evening! Lol!

A+ experience from our 9/1/19 outing on The New Sea Angler!!! This was our first time boat fishing…read moreon the West Coast (and our second time ever), so we're still beginners. Despite our novice capabilities, we left the boat with a massive haul of a beautiful Chinook (King) salmon, a hefty ling cod, and our two-person limit of 20 assorted rockfish, including red vermilion. Needless to say, we were thrilled with this trip and it was made possible by the seafaring knowledge of Captain Rick and the invaluable support from his expert, hard-working crew. Kevin, Logan, and Dana all helped us throughout the entire day. Special shout-out to Kevin, an all around great guy, who shared helpful information and tips with us for each type of fish we were going for during the trip. Kevin also made sure our gear/bait was set up correctly, gave us excellent advice on techniques for catching each type of fish, and patiently answered the hundreds of questions we threw his way. The whole crew was superb and we truly appreciated everyone's help but, honestly, Kevin made the trip for us -- thank you!!! We were also impressed with how well Captain Rick navigated us to various hot spots during the combo rock fish/ling cod/salmon trip -- the fish were biting at each location. It was certainly a productive trip and everyone on the boat left with a good amount of fish to take home. One other highlight from the salmon fishing part -- the whales were out and breaching so we ended up with some good whale watching too. What a bonus on top of great fishing! A few practical things: cash only (best to bring more than you need), wear layers as it gets chilly on the water, rubber/waterproof shoes help, Dramamine especially if you're prone to seasickness, and a small cooler with drinks/snacks/food as you might be on the water for 8-10 hours. We had a great first outing with Bodega Bay Sportfishing Center and look forward to another trip!

The Captain keeps an eye out for everyone's safety and does a good job making sure all customers follow proper procedures when fishing. The deckhand was also very knowledgeable and helpful. This is an update of our earlier review and covers the years 2018 and 2019. First, Fish On Charter…read morehas freshwater trips targetting Kokanee salmon. We had experienced two trips with Les for this species, and it was a fun-filled adventure. Although this was a freshwater trip, I felt I did not have the expertise or hardware to troll for this species. I have caught plenty of trout in Crowley and Convict Lake on the troll, but getting these landlocked salmon requires a downrigger and the ability to troll deep. Les and his wife did a great job putting us on fish. Kokanee salmon are wonderful table fare. This year, we participated in an epic salmon trip at Bodega Bay. Les still operates the Samantha Irene and has Captain Jeff running the boat. We managed to catch our limit of King Salmon, the largest weighing 27 pounds. We also landed some 15 pounders. Again, the trip was an epic experience. As a fisherman,​ ​I have to brag. The first salmon I caught with Les was a 30 pounder! It is good to see Fish On Charters expanding its operation. ​They have a Rockfish, Lingcod trip in the winter. A November trip would be the perfect way for us to end the fishing year.
