I have seen people work so hard and really grow in short amounts of time here (one of those people are me ). I have been able to grow as an absolute beginner adult (I took ballet, jazz and tap for maybe a year or two when I was a child, but it was no longer affordable so I stopped). I have not only learned foundational vocabulary and techniques in the absolute beginner intensive offered by Suzana and her amazing teachers and students (worth every dollar and drop of sweat haha!), but I have become absolutely obsessed about Classical Ballet and its history! As a Queens native, I love how convenient the location of this studio is, as opposed to traveling somewhere out in Manhattan twice a week. Wildheart Studio has a very cozy feel to it, and inspirational quotes and pictures surround the walls of the studio. I love being challenged physically and mentally here (I've been going for 6 months now), but the best part is having the support of people who dance bravely, make mistakes openly, and shine brightly beside me. This was my first time trying aerial yoga, so I didn't quite know what to expect, but I quickly…read morerealized it's a full body workout. Danielle, our instructor, was efficient, making the most of our private class by showing us all kinds of fun and challenging tricks in the silks. That said, a few things would've elevated the experience. First and foremost, the silks themselves really need a deep clean. The smell was noticeably off, and that made it uncomfortable anytime we had to lift ourselves into them or get up close for certain movements. I get that it's an active studio, but the silks shouldn't retain that much odor, especially for a private class setting. We had an early 9 a.m. session, and it would've been a nice to 1) do introductions (share a bit about the studio? ask about our 6 party group? more conversational overall...) 2) offer to use the Bluetooth speaker to play music tailored to our vibe, especially since we were celebrating a birthday. We could've asked, sure, but small details like that can make a difference for a private group. Otherwise, the experience could feel a bit impersonal and solely transactional. Danielle's teaching style was quick and assertive, which works for more advanced folks, but most of us were beginners. She tended to demonstrate five or six steps at once, followed by a casual "You got it?" (we indeed did not have it, LOL) We weren't shy about asking for help, though, and I appreciated her patience when we needed things broken down more slowly, especially when it came to knots and footing that didn't feel intuitive or safe without guidance. I also think the silks could've been lifted a bit higher so that we got a more enhanced "aerial" experience. I didn't feel as though we were as lifted from the mat. Despite the speed bumps, it was a fun and memorable way to start our Saturday. Danielle and her daughter Grace were kind enough to take our pictures afterward, and we all left feeling like we'd done something bold and new. I would definitely recommend the experience (with the feedback that the studio give the silks a refresh and perhaps adjust the pace for true first-timers).

This is a hidden gem in Flushing. With so many dance studio's in Queens, this is the place to send…read moreyour kids for dancing. We found ourselves at Kaye's Dance Studio more than 8 years ago. Here's the rundown: Studio: It is in the middle of 163rd Street, right off Northern Blvd. With public transportation and the Long Island Railroad just a half a block away. Street parking is available. The studio has a front waiting room for parents to wait, along with a coffee station. They also have an area for little ones to color or read to help keep younger siblings occupied during classes. The studio has (2) classrooms, front room is the larger room but both are equipped with hardwood floors and mirrors. Class Size: This is where this studio excels. Most of the classes only have between 6-10 kids. Classes are taught by experienced and professional dance teachers, most classes have an assistant teacher. All there teachers are trained in all types of dance so they are able to incorporate all types of movement. Dance Teachers: You cannot find a better group of Teachers anywhere. We have been to other dance studios and what I have noticed that the teacher rarely comes out of the classroom. There were classes that my daughters took and I had no idea who the teachers where. This studio has teachers that are constantly speaking to students and parents. My daughters love all the teachers, we never have a "oh no not that teacher" moment. The Director, Ms. Darlene is very approachable and makes the dance studio a second home for her dance students. Types of Dance: They offer classes from toddlers to adults. They have tap, ballet. jazz, hip hop, contemporary, acrobatics and pointe. There studio has actually produced 21 Rockettes, yep 21 girls took classes and then became famous New York City Rockettes. They offer elite dance levels for students. You can also purchase dance shoes and dance clothes directly at the studio. Recital: They offer a dance recital to show off all there students. It is at the end of June and held at Queensborough Community College. The director sets a theme and ties the whole show together. My entire family attends every year and they cannot believe how talented the kids are in the show. Every year the show wows them more. This dance studio is an amazing place that has an environment that is filled with love, affection, encouragement and lots of hard work. We instantly felt at home and have watched our daughters grow daily as dancers. You don't always find places like Kaye's Dance Studio. If you are thinking about dancing for your child, check this studio first. You surely won't be disappointed.

Not only does she have every move down perfectly but also is very patient; when something isn't coming across, she teaches alternatives, or postpones it into the future and goes on to another topic. So, when you get to the top of the stairs, TURN RIGHT (not left). Note: there are two different poles that are practiced on (chrome and silicone). I've tried their Choreography with Beginner Pole and it was a super duper fun experience (silicone). I was quite nervous since I've never used a spinning pole or silicone and it was cool. A lot of twirling for the basic basic learners AND sooo worth it. Mary is sooo patient with each student and it's open level (Im pretty much beginner level lol) It's based inside a warehouse (I think), instructions are clear in getting there and it's not hard to miss since it's fully decked out from the outside and inside. (So classy, so sassy) I definitely recommend to those who are interested (it's hard deciding whether I like silicone or chrome now haha)

We stretched, conditioned, learned to get confident with our desire walks, a few tricks and the grand finale which was a combination of everything we learned and a chance to record our progress to a song of our choice. This class definitely made me feel confident to continue onto the next level. Mary is a great instructor! Looking forward to visiting the studio again.
