Jeff is a friendly experienced drum instructor. My son has been taking lessons every week for two years and he just enjoys it. He leaves his lessons telling me he wants to play drums forever. I couldn't ask for more than that. I recommend OC Drum School lessons. read more

Been taking lessons from Jeff for almost a year. I came in already at about an intermediate level, but I've improved alot! Jeff has helped me read drum music much better, developed my 4 way independence, has helped me break down drum parts of popular songs, techniques on how to play rudiments more smoothly, developed more pedal speed, and most of all has given me more confidence in my drum playing with his consistent encouragement! He also cares about you as a person, not just a drum student. I highly recommend drum lessons with Jeff. read more

Jeff is an amazing teacher! In just a few short weeks our daughter was already playing songs. I like that he teaches music theory along with all the technical aspects while still making it fun. Our daughter takes band at school and she has learned far more here than she did in an entire year and a half at school. She often tries to quit something if it's too hard but she loves her drum lessons. If you're like us and like to research every place in the area, we'll save you the time. This is the one. Highly recommend! read more

Highly recommended!!! My daughter is very introverted, and struggles with confidence, and OC Drums' private setting, along with expert knowledge and heart truly brought out the drummer in her!! Jim has a natural gift for teaching and we were blessed to have found him. 5 stars!! . read more

I am 65. My wife is 64. When both of us were children we wanted to learn to play drums, but were not allowed to do so. This year we decided it was not too late to learn. My wife is dyslexic and finds it difficult to read music. She greatly appreciates Jeff's patience with her. I am left handed and want to play on the same drum kit as my wife, yet use my dominant hand and foot comparable to how a right handed person would use their dominant hand and foot. Through Jeff I am accomplishing this. We also used Jeff to set up the electronic drum kit we bought. This service saved us much frustration. read more

My son is taking drum lessons with Mr.Jeff. Mr. Jeff is makes the lesson very fun for my 4 years old son. He loves and enjoys it so much

Jeff is awesome! I wanted to learn drums for a long time and decided at 32 it was time. I was nervous I wouldn't be able to learn or missed my window but Jeff has been a great teacher. His technique will get you reading music in the first half hour, even if you've never read sheet music before. He is incredibly patient, kind, and a wonderful source of drum knowledge. Not everyone who can play an instrument can teach others to do the same, but Jeff has figured out how to do both and to do them well! read more

I've been working with Jeff for 10 months now, weekly hour long lessons. I started with no drumming experience at all, and I feel like I am an intermediate level drummer now. I can play most songs if I sit down and figure it out, and I am very happy with the progress I have made under Jeff's instruction. Jeff is an excellent teacher. He doesn't just teach drumming, he teaches music with an emphasis on drumming, and is especially good about teaching the "right way" to do it instead of the easy way. He wants his students to build good habits and understand the underlying theory, and will spend the time to educate the student on the most effective, sustainable, and professional way to do something instead of what is easy or intuitive. He's exactly what I was looking for in a drum teacher, and I am very grateful that I have a teacher that is so skillful and committed to giving a proper drum education to his students. I am a working professional, so the time I can devote to practice is sometimes scarce, but Jeff understands this and works with me to develop lesson plans that make the most of my valuable time. The limiting factor to my learning is my practice time, and never Jeff's instruction. I believe sincerely that if a student does what Jeff tells them to do exactly like Jeff says to do it, that they will become master level drummers over time. It's all about practice, but you could not ask for a better teacher than Jeff. Follow his guidance and you will succeed in drumming and have a great time doing it. Jeff makes drumming fun, and I regret not getting started earlier in life. It's become a joyful thing for me, and I can't imagine not drumming now that it's an established hobby. Jeff also makes a delicious cup of coffee, and is a good man. I consider him a friend. Thanks for everything, Jeff. I am stoked to think about how much I'll grow as a drummer over the next 10 months considering how far I've come in the previous 10. Thank you for being my guide on this journey. read more

Jeff Wolfe is a master drum teacher with an abundance and integrity patience. I've been taking lessons with Jeff Wolfe for several years. As a kid I always wanted to learn how to play the drums but my parents were never too keen. So fast forward to adulthood, and buying a detached house, and I got a drum set and proceeded to "teach myself." Maybe some people with amazing talents can teach themselves drumming from a book -- I'm not one of them and you probably aren't, either. So I found myself, like you, looking at reviews from drum teachers. And it's hard...you're going to invest time and money and you want to find the right teacher from the start. I think the most important thing for me was wanting someone who isn't just an excellent musician, but an excellent teacher. And that's Jeff. He's developed his own materials, his own teaching techniques, and he has the patience of a saint. Which seems to be a great quality for students of all ages and skill levels. Jeff is committed to being an amazing teacher -- this isn't just something he does on the side to supplement his income as a musician. And that makes all the difference. read more

Jeff has been teaching my 15 year old sister since Dec 2016 and has been great. She had never played the drums before and Jeff has been nothing but kind, patient, and understanding with her. We have the lesson on a weekday after school and there are times when my sister is tired or doesn't feel well and Jeff has always been flexible and accommodating. He will take the time to switch up the lesson if he feels she is having a hard time. We look forward to the drum lesson each week. From instructor, to friend, to family. Jeff Wolfe at OC Drum School has been with us for almost 3 years now. I could not have asked for a better teacher/mentor for my son Dustin's (now 12 years old) introduction to drum lessons. Jeff has mastered the art of connecting with students of all ages and keeping his lessons fun and educational at the same time. I'd often meet other students and parents in passing, and they all shared the same thing in common--a positive outlook and genuine fondness for Jeff. He really payed attention to my son's musical interests, rather than just forcing him into tedious exercises. Any parent knows that kids can be moody or tired after school, but Jeff always seemed to be very sensitive and in tune with my son, and would tailor each lesson accordingly. This was crucial, as it keeps the kids interested and eager to play. Not to mention--as a parent with a very hectic schedule, I often had to move things around...but Jeff was always super understanding and accommodating. Rare these days!! But those are just a few of his great qualities. Side note: I just read this review to my son and asked if there was anything that I should add, or what his favorite thing about Jeff is, and he said "Definitely his patience with me!" 5 stars all the way--we can't say enough good things!!! read more

OC Drum School - Dustin M., 11 yrs. - Musical Instruments & Teachers Near Me - Huntington Beach, California

I have been learning to play the drums from Jeff for about 2 years now and I am extremely happy with my experience. I have several years of experience playing South Indian drums but I had to start from scratch with regards to Western drums and I'm glad I found the best teacher to guide me through the process. Jeff is an extremely patient teacher who sincerely wants his students to succeed and have fun drumming. He has a very methodical approach to his teaching and has developed his own notes that he graciously shares with his students to help them practice on their own. He takes time to understand his students and customize the learning process accordingly, which is why he has students from all age groups.  It's a challenge for me to squeeze in drum classes in to my lifestyle as a full time engineer and a first time dad with a baby at home, but Jeff has always been very understanding and works around his schedules to offer classes that works for both of us. Jeff is an excellent teacher who strikes the perfect balance between fun and learning and I highly recommend him to any who is looking to learn drums. read more

I have been taking lessons from Jeff for 2 years now and after having 5 different teachers, he was the missing peice to the puzzle! He has taught me a numerous amount of things that my other drum teachers could not very well. Because of Jeff, my timing has improved tremendously, my technique has gotten 100x better, and I have overall become a well rounded musician. When I struggle with something, he let's me work through it and he is a very patient person which is awesome! At the end of every lesson, I learn great new things that make me a better player. That is a great feeling!! This is the drum teacher for you! read more

Jeff is an amazing instructor, in my individual lessons i have noticed that he has patience for his students. Out one thing specifically out of everything he has taught me is " at first play it slowly then once you understand how to read it you can begin to play it faster". Jeff has a great method of teaching you how to play drums, instead of teaching you one rhythm or note to keep playing and playing over and over he moves on to something different that way you don't get tired of the same thing. Thanks Jeff your style of teaching has been helpful to me and really appreciate it. read more
