Earlier today, I signed up my 2 daughters at the Westminster Music School. We were assisted by Gabby who works at the front desk. She gave us a complete tour of the place and followed up with scheduling the classes. We have attended another music school in the past but never had such a great customer service experience. She was a complete professional and answered all our questions from scheduling, fees to alternate options even for myself who is a wannabe musician at heart but never had the courage to take up any lessons. Westminster music school is a good music school, the instructor and staff are nice and friendly. My daughter took piano lesson. The lesson is an hour long. 30 mins one on one piano learning lesson and 30 mins of theory session after where student do homework in class with guidance from teacher aid. At the end of each lesson student was given paper dollars that are like points reward where you can get prizes. over all westminster music is a very good music school i give it 5 stars read more

My wife went here as a kid. She says: I attended Westminster Music School for 10 years from the age of 6-16. Learning piano also taught me discipline when it came to school which came in handy. All the teachers were very nice and had patience with me throughout the years. I attended here for violin lessons from when I was 5 years old up until 18. 13 years with the same Mr. Hong and I can say, with many tears, yelling, and Vietnamese style teaching...he taught me what I needed to know. Fundamentals were taught well and when I switched teachers to get different style teachings, was able to adapt quickly to whatever their expectations were. There is also a fairly large piano school up in this location which does very well in teaching not only the musical portion of music, but also the theory. Westminster Music School is my home music school and would recommend it for young children starting out with either violin or piano. read more

My daughter had been going here for the past two months and she had really enjoyed her lessons. It's a bit of a commute for us but I will say it's worth the effort to find kind, patient, and knowledgeable instruction. We've tried in home lessons and though convenient, not the best way to learn. Westminster school has nice facilities, solid curriculum, and most importantly, very good instructors. They were flexible with lesson times and offer makeup sessions that worked around our busy weekend schedule. I have nothing but amazing experiences here at Westminster Music School! I started piano school here ~2002 and stayed until I graduated and received my diploma in 2012. The teachers were amazing, and were great at teaching me in an engaging, and interactive way. Throughout my years there, I was taught by Co Thu and Co My Le. They were both very inspiring and helped me understand music to a point that it become a second language to me. They were also very motivating and always pushed me to improve and be the best that I could be. This school has been around the longest in our area, and for good reason. The teachers are well qualified and they all genuinely want the students to learn piano and love it. A lot of the students that graduate from WMS, including myself, come back to visit the teachers that were so important to our growth and development into the amazing and successful adults we are today. I feel like that in itself means a lot, and shows how much we valued our experiences here and appreciated our teachers. If you're hesitant about bringing your children here to learn piano, hesitate no more! This is the best place for a musical education; not only are the teachers amazing, but the program is rigorous and worth your money. What I appreciated from going here is that WMS not only teaches you how to play music, but also focuses on music theory. By understanding music theory, you're able to better grasp piano. A lot of other music schools do not focus on this, and their students end up having a very shallow grasp of piano; they have more difficulty reading the music and their technique is also subpar. Had a great time taking piano lessons at Westminster Music School throughout my high school years. Wish I had started much younger! I really enjoyed my lessons there because all the teachers were so patient, attentive and encouraging. All the workshops and recitals were fun and not intimidating. Too bad I didn't turn out to be some kind of musical genius my mom had hoped for, but I'm glad to have retained some of the knowledge about music. Now as an adult I have a much deeper appreciation for playing the piano and for those who excel in this wonderful skill. Can't wait to enroll my older daughter in WMS very soon! read more

I learned piano at Westminster Music School from age 5-19. I could not have asked for better teachers or a warmer environment conducive to learning. The teaching system here gives students plenty of opportunity to perform at recitals and to have their performance measured objectively. I was a student here for 10+ years and graduated a very accomplished individual. The teachers here are by far the nicest I've ever been taught by. Don't be fooled by their niceness and generosity, however, because they are very aggressive when it comes to wanting you to become the best version of yourself musically. They will push you to do your best through 10 years of the program even when you don't want to, and it truly shows how much they care about their students' improvement. I will be forever grateful for the skills that this school and its teachers have taught me. If you want your kids/siblings/relatives/friends to receive an exceptional experience in learning music, this place is the best to go to. This school taught me more than how to read and play music -- it taught me discipline, perseverance, and certainly music appreciation. The curriculum is well-rounded and gives a solid foundation of mastery. My son attended this music school a couple months and I would like to share my opinion. What I liked is the different things they offered so the kids can be motivated to learn. What I didn't like was the high number of kids they have to teach each 30 minutes. I felt the quality of the lessons were low. His instructor, a young girl who at the time had long redish hair had no passion. She never communicated with me on my son's progress. When I tried to ask her she was unavailable again due to the high number of students she had to go on to teach the next one. My 12 yr old son went from being very excited to losing all his passion. Also, we would go around 5 p.m. and they never had anyone working in the office. It was always difficult to speak with someone or even pay the monthly tuition. After a couple months my son quit. They seemed to have so much to offer but it just didn't work out do to how busy they are. Too many kids and no time to actually speak to the parents. read more

Westminster Music School has a great reputation and is one of the oldest music schools serving the community of Orange County. As a student and now as a teacher at this school, I cannot begin to express how much this school has impacted my life. My memories when I was young were positive and encouraging. As I progressed and got better and more advanced, I was given more difficult and challenging pieces to play. Westminster Music School has prepared me for a career in music. With a proper training in technique and theory, I went on to earn a bachelor of arts in Music Education and master of arts in Piano Pedagogy. Now as a working adult, I can appreciate classical music and play advanced pieces with ease. Playing the piano is a great hobby, stress reliever, and emotional outlet. I started piano lessons here when I was 6 years old and continued until I graduated from high school. I'm so glad that my parents brought me here because the staff were not only professional and organized, they were good teachers. My teacher Mrs. Hai focused both on musical performance and theory and taught it in an encouraging and motivating way. The monthly workshops where students perform in front of each other also helped prepare me for public performances. By the time the annual National Guild of Piano Teachers auditions rolled around each summer, I felt ready to earn my next level and maybe get a trophy. At this music school, you always feel that you are progressing towards a goal and growing as a musician. My teachers helped me earn the National Guild diploma when I was a senior in high school. I'm so grateful to have learned music here because now that I'm in my twenties, I can still play proficiently and have the opportunity to serve at my church. Therefore, I highly recommend that parents bring their children here to learn music - your children will receive solid musical teaching, a great community, and professional service! read more

I had high hopes for this music school as a couple of my friend's children attend it. However, my own experience has been very negative. The owner/manager treated me as if I should be grateful that I attend her school. I felt insulted by her pretentious attitude a few times, subtle, but very passive aggressive behavior, enough that I left. The teachers are good, however dealing with the owner was not. read more
