I also wanted to rethink the artwork on my dining area wall. I have a large, eclectic collection of art in different sizes, styles and frames, and I had a very specific vision for how I wanted these spaces to come together. Robert understood that vision immediately. He didn't simply hang pictures where I pointed. He understood what I was trying to accomplish with both the living room gallery and the dining area wall--the balance, relationships between the pieces, and the way the art needed to work with the architecture and furnishings already in the rooms. He rearranged and installed everything beautifully while leaving exactly the right space for the three pieces that are coming. When they arrive, Robert will absolutely be the person I call to install them. My second experience with him came unexpectedly. A very large 57" × 76" painting arrived, and the delivery service had sent only one person who wasn't much bigger than I am. The painting therefore ended up downstairs in my garage. With the summer heat, I was increasingly worried about leaving it there. I contacted Robert knowing I was giving him almost no notice. His schedule was already very tight, but when I explained the situation, he found a way to fit me in within the next couple of days. Robert and his team got the enormous painting safely out of the garage, into the house and installed on a very tall wall. They were careful, methodical and precise, and they took the time to make sure its placement was exactly right. The finished installation is spectacular. The painting has become a focal point of the dining area and feels completely at home with the surrounding artwork, plants and furnishings. What distinguishes Robert is that he brings much more than the technical ability to securely hang artwork. I had several projects that needed to be done, including two that made me particularly nervous. One involved mounting a TV and sound bar on a granite wall above my fireplace, and the other involved mounting a large, heavy, ornate mirror on a marble wall. Because of the materials and the value of what was being mounted, I didn't feel comfortable hiring just any handyman. I wanted someone who really knew what they were doing. Kenny is meticulous. He spent many hours here, and after each project I kept saying, "Oh my gosh, it's perfect." The TV and sound bar deserve special mention. You can see NO cords. We even came up with a plan to add a matching detail to the cord covers on the other side so they would look intentional and become part of the fireplace design rather than something you simply have to hide. The finished result is sleek, stylish, and chic. Kenny also connected all of the electronics, so there was absolutely nothing left for me to figure out afterward. That was a huge bonus. He even cleaned the TV! I already had that on my to-do list and I didn't need to do it! The TV installation itself was quite involved. The drilling took a considerable amount of time, and Kenny explained the different layers of material he had to work through to mount the TV correctly. This is exactly why you want someone who understands what is behind the wall rather than someone who simply knows how to hang a TV. And then there was the little problem of the TV angle. As we were determining the placement, we realized that the TV would be better if it could tilt downward slightly. My existing mount was fixed, so I said, "Ugh...I need a mount that tilts." Kenny said, "I have one!" I said, "You do?! What, do you just drive around with various TV mounts in your car?" He said, "Yeah, I do!" That pretty much sums up Kenny. He is prepared. I felt so relieved! Several of the other projects looked complicated and frankly were stressing me out. Not Kenny. He would look at the project, figure it out, and make everything seem easy. He was knowledgeable, careful, resourceful, and prepared for the unexpected. I also want to mention something that isn't usually included in a contractor review but mattered a lot to me. Kenny has a very clear, positive energy. When someone is going to be spending hours inside your home, that matters. I'm very sensitive to the energy of people in my personal space, and I had even prepared my assistant for that. I was ready to smudge the house with sage afterward if necessary. It wasn't necessary. By the time Kenny left, the house felt great. We were all laughing, talking about future projects, and already thinking about what we might have him do next. That combination is hard to find: professional, meticulous, knowledgeable, resourceful, prepared, and simply pleasant to have in your home. Every detail was attended to, and the finished work is beautiful. I highly recommend Kenny. Bill is a true craftsman! I've had a wood gate that has needed rebuilding for the last 8 years…read more Pieces of the wood gate were rotting. Over the years, I've had other handymen pass on the project. I had a handyman who was able to fill the rotted areas with wood filler, sand it, and restain it. I've even had a gate company tell me that they could not save the gate; it would need to be completely replaced. Bill was able to cut out the rotted pieces of wood, replace them, and restain the whole gate (he also repainted the decorative hardware on the door as well). Moreover, he discussed the project with a buddy of his and they determined that the gate was sitting over a muddy part of landscaping which is probably what facilitated the deterioration of the wood. We found some leftover pavers in our storage shed and Bill extended the pavers so the gate would sit over pavers instead of mud. Before he embarked on the wood gate repair, Bill also installed a valance/shade over a window. He made the necessary calculations to ensure that the valance/shade would be centered on the wall and window. He also made sure that the valence was leveled. Bill is honest, meticulous and detail-oriented. If you want someone to treat your project and your home, like it's his own, I would give Bill a call.

I said I was real, and he must not have have put my voicemail and my email together. Then he asked me again for my name and city so that he could put it together. At this point, it was getting ridiculous, but I complied, I was trying to help the guy out, and get off his list. Then he starts cussing at me. I blocked him. What a jerk. I'm telling you, I was never anything but kind and helpful to him, the only thing I did "wrong" was ask him for a custom quote (which he never gave me, because he clearly still had no idea what work I'd asked him to do - he only gave me his 3 hour minimum shtick) and later had the courtesy to tell him that I'd hired someone else. Instead of blowing him off. I was nice, and he is throwing four letter words at me. I would find someone else who is more trustworthy, reliable, knows the difference between a computer and a real person, and knows how to treat potential clients.
