Not so great food. The bread pudding is too dry and has a preservative type taste. Kinda artificial tasting. The chocolate brownie in the brownie sundae was dry and crumbly. And cold. In a frosty glass. Not very appetizing. Yeah, it was a sundae with ice cream, but the cake part should be hot and yummy, not cold and crumbly. The rest of the food was passable. The wait staff and cashiers leave plenty to be desired. They act like they are doing you a favor by waiting on you. I think they forget they are there for the customer, not the other way around. I came in yesterday to order my usual meal, a Po boy. Not only was the food fantastic, but the service was beyond excellent. My waitress' name was Rachel, and she was very accommodating of my every need. I've been to a lot of restaurants here in Oxford, and the service here is one of the best. My experience with this restaurant was a nightmare. The delivery through Landshark Delivery went fine. The food arrived quickly and it arrived hot. I ordered a Fried Oyster Poboy with fries on the side. It was advertised as "fresh oysters" but it tasted stale and tinny like they were canned or frozen. (The manager admitted they were frozen- so points off for false advertising.) The fries were okay. The prices were very high for what you get. On my third bite into the oyster poboy, I bit down on a large piece of shell- about the size of a dime-that shattered my back right molar tooth. It was fried along with the breading so I had no way of seeing it. I have to go to an oral surgeon now at the end of this month due to the lack of attention to detail by Oby's. It was a big enough piece of shell that they should have noticed. I called the manager and told her the story, and she told me that it wasn't their fault because they don't shuck the oysters themselves- they're frozen (which is again false advertising). She was very rude and very argumentative. She also did not offer to give a refund or comp the sandwich or anything of the sort, and when I asked politely outright refused. I'm not going to sue- but I'm never going back to that place and I recommend you don't either. I'm very disappointed and rather upset. read more

I used to love Oby's when they first opened. Tonight was my last attempt to eat there. Last two times the service was terrible and tonight when we went in at 9:30 we were told they were closed. People in the restaurant were still eating. The door clearly states their hours are daily until 10 PM and the website also says 10 PM. When I asked the young man behind the counter about the door and website he said they like to close early so the can leave at 10. So 10 actually means departure time for staff, not actual hours. It was fun while it lasted Oby's but I will not ever be back. read more

We were urged to try Oby's by our Ole Miss daughter. We both had the chicken plate and while the waffle fries were good the chicken both grilled and fried were drier than dry. All the sauce in the world couldn't bring that chicken back to life. If you want good chicken try Abners or Chic Fila. read more

Has slowly become one of my fav places to stop and grab a bite to eat when in town! The catfish plate is awesome is humongous... I always split it with my 6 year old! Whenever I've been, it's never been too crowded... service is always fast and never too far away! I'll definitely return! read more

I finally got to go back to Oby's this weekend I have not been in years...this use to me my game day stop back when I was in school. They did not disappoint still the same great food I remember. The whole place is set up kind of like McAlisters you walk up order then they bring the food out to you only difference is this place is way better than McAlisters. They have the all time best chicken tenders...and I know my chicken tenders...even their ranch is great I think it is homemade well at least taste that way. I mean how could you not like a place with awesome chicken oh and rotel as an appetizer. The staff for the most part seems to be high school and college kids, and they are all great super helpful and always checking to see if you need anything. If you are in town shopping or headed to a game this is a great lunch stop. read more

Oh, man, those alligator or oyster po-boys are phenomenal. Oby's has a mcalister's vibe, but a bit elevated. The prices are high, but the food delivers. Go for the fries, though there is an upcharge. I gave it 5 stars because it deserves it in my humble opinion. Oby's is a very similar to a McAlester's Deli or a Sweet Peppers Deli but with a Cajun twist, and it's a lot better. My favorites here are the Around the World and the Muffuletta sandwiches. read more

Oby's had some of the friendliest staff I have encountered in Oxford. The food came fast and was hot when it was supposed to be hot, and cold when it was supposed to be cold. One of my favorite places in town. This is a place to get good wholesome food that isn't fast food but doesn't completely break your budget. The food itself is well seasoned and always comes out hot and fresh. Oby's is a place to get quick food. I ordered the clam chowder and oyster platter. My friend had a turkey sandwich and superspud. The sandwich was piled high with turkey and was a big size as was the spud. It tasted very good. The spud was very dry even though topped with a lot of cheese, bacon and olives. There were plenty of oysters on the half-platter (8). The oysters were so over salted I could only eat 3 if them and way too much breading. They could have been cooked a minute less. The chowder had a good flavor but once again, WAY too much salt. I would only return if my friend insists and try something else. read more

I LOVE OBY'S! Chips and Salsa and fresh guacamole are a great start. I like the salads and the Po-boys. You can't go wrong with soup either. I absolutely love Oby's. I was in town for the game and went there this afternoon for lunch for the first time since I graduated in 2009. It was just as good as I remembered and I was so glad to share the experience with my wife. I've traveled all over the country for my job and this is still one of my favorite restaurants anywhere.
