This was our fourth experience with Hilton Vallarta Riviera, and after multiple visits, I believe…read morethe greatest strength of this resort is its General Manager, Yulio Beracierto, and the culture of hospitality he personally works extremely hard to create.
Every resort can experience operational challenges. What separates an average hotel from an exceptional one is leadership and how management responds when something does not go as planned. Yulio is one of the most genuinely caring, accessible, and guest focused General Managers I have encountered. He listens, follows through, accepts constructive feedback, and takes personal responsibility for the experience of his guests. His leadership is the primary reason I continue to consider this a five star property.
Fernanda Vidal, Yulio's Executive Administrative Assistant, also deserves tremendous recognition. She consistently went above and beyond for our family, followed up on details, and demonstrated exceptional professionalism and genuine kindness throughout our stay. Yulio and Fernanda make an extraordinary team.
There are also several employees who deserve recognition. Kayla at the bar was wonderful. Juan at the Mexican restaurant personally approached us after learning about an earlier disappointing experience and asked us to give the restaurant another opportunity, which demonstrated genuine concern. Edgar at Sunan Asian restaurant provided excellent hospitality. The captain at the Italian restaurant, whose name unfortunately escapes me, went considerably above and beyond for our family. Claudia from Housekeeping was absolutely fantastic and took wonderful care of us.
There are, however, areas where the resort needs improvement. The most significant is Food and Beverage consistency, particularly the lunch buffet. My wife and I enjoy healthy food and fresh salads, and on several occasions the lettuce and other ingredients were wilted, warm, and simply not at the standard I would expect from Hilton. Food quality, presentation, restaurant organization, and consistency require stronger management attention. I shared these concerns directly with Yulio because his vision for this resort deserves to be executed consistently throughout the Food and Beverage operation.
The pool and cabana area also needs stronger oversight. Excessive drinking and inappropriate behavior by some guests can negatively affect the atmosphere for families. Pool management and security should be more proactive in maintaining the upscale, comfortable environment expected at a resort of this caliber.
Finally, continued renovation and modernization of the property would complement the level of hospitality Yulio is working so hard to provide.
I share these observations as constructive feedback, not simply criticism. Having spent more than 40 years in executive management, I strongly believe that great organizations improve when leadership listens to their customers. Yulio does exactly that.
I have previously communicated directly with senior Hilton leadership regarding Yulio because exceptional leadership deserves recognition. He is not simply a General Manager sitting behind the scenes. He is visible, engaged, accountable, and genuinely invested in his guests. When something goes wrong, he does not hide from it or make excuses. He listens and works to make it right.
That is why, despite some operational shortcomings, I still give Hilton Vallarta Riviera five stars. Yulio's leadership, together with Fernanda and the many dedicated employees working alongside them, gives me confidence in the future of this resort.
My strongest recommendation to Yulio is simply this: surround yourself at every level with leaders who share your vision, your passion for hospitality, and your commitment to the guest experience. If that vision is consistently carried throughout the entire property, this resort has tremendous potential.
Thank you, Yulio, Fernanda, and the team members who took such wonderful care of our family. Your hospitality is remembered and sincerely appreciated.
