Dr. Le is very warm and professional. You can tell she genuinely cares about dental health and about her clients as individuals. She has credibility as well, as she teaches dentistry at UCSF! Dr. Le is a truly caring and compassionate dentist! She gave me very valuable feedback on my lifestyle, which I had never heard from a dentist before... She showed me how my eating and drinking habits were affecting my teeth. I got deep cleaning and a crown done, and it was mostly pain-free, except for occasional discomfort. I met Dr. Le at UCSF after experiencing bad dental care in San Francisco that left my bite and jaw totally wonky. She was like a breath of fresh air! She was exceptionally knowledgeable and explained my complicated case very clearly to both the dental student and me. She might not be in your network, but paying a little bit more to have a crown that fits and bites correctly is cheaper in the long run than suffering bad dental work that leads to jaw pain, bruxism, and shifting teeth. read more

Dr. Le has done extensive work on my teeth over the past 20 years and I can't thank her enough. I have bad genes when it comes to teeth. Both of my parents lost almost all their teeth. Unfortunately, when I was young, I had a very bad experience with a dentist and avoided the dentist for almost 20 years. I even had a tooth fall out and I still didn't go to the dentist due to my fears. Eventually, I knew if I didn't do something my teeth would be gone. I told Dr. Le about my fears and she handled me very gently. I had to have a really deep cleaning due to years of neglect. My teeth were so bad it took two appointments to get the first cleaning done. Dr. Le did the cleaning and a root canal with such a great chair-side manner that my fears are no longer a deterrent from maintaining good dental hygiene. Its been over twenty years since I first walked into Dr. Le's office. My teeth are in outstanding shape. As we all know, your smile is critical to how you feel about yourself. I will always be thankful to Dr. Le for changing my view of my teeth and how I care for them. I love my teeth! Dr. Le is very thorough and is focussed on prevention. I was a bit disapointed as I was not made aware that she was out of network for me. When I asked if she she accepted my insurance, she said yes. So I assumed she was in network. That was my bad. I paid $300 for a cleaning, xrays and an exam which is more than I have ever paid in my life. THAT left a bad taste in my mouth. I also felt she was really pushy in trying to take 24 photos of my teeth, more expense. I understand why she wanted to take them, but I felt her asking 5 or 6 times was over the top. The office is really old and not contemporary at all, perhaps I am used to nicer dental offices. I left feeling upset and discouraged as she informed my I would need a lot of dental work but my insurance would pay very little of it. That was not her fault, but overall I just did not like the vibe I was getting. I will be looking for a less pushy dentist as well as one that is in my network. I got a letter in the mail from Dr. Le asking me to remove my comments. I have made updates but feel that Yelp is a place for consumers to be able to express opinions on services and products. Dr Le has been my dentist for over 15 years. My only regret is that she hadn't been my dentist earlier. Because Dr Le is an instructor she is aware of new techniques and breakthroughs and she does an excellent job explaining problems and describing preventative measures I need to take. All of my previous dentists would harp on the conditions of my gums and teeth. I wish they had taken the time to explain what I was doing wrong. Dr Le identified and remedied teeth grinding problem I had which resulted in the loss of some tooth enamel and cracking of my molars/crowns. Dr Le did an excellent job making custom fitted crowns. I had to replace several cracked crowns which always looked clunky and had gaps between the gum and crown. As a result my gums would often bleed and floss would snag. In contrast Dr Le's crowns look great, fit perfectly and my gums are healthier. I am 60+ years old and now realize good preventive dental health could have saved me lots of pain and expense. I wish someone like Dr Le had been looking after me when I was younger. I highly recommend Dr Le. read more

Dr Oanh Le is amazing. She is extremely professional, explains everything she plans to do, has a ton of common sense, and is down right personable. At the procedures, I had to get a bridge, Dr. Oanh Le explained every detail to me so I could understand exactly what was going and she continually asked if I was ok or if anything hurt. She really went over the top to make sure I was comfortable. Also, X-rays made so easy (none of those cardboard things that make you gag). The least painful cleaning I have ever had. Dr. Le is a great dentist. I have been seeing her annually for several years since my previous dentist retired. If you are looking for someone professional, personable, and caring then Dr. Le is as good as it gets. I like being able to talk to and deal with my healthcare providers directly and she deals with her appointments personally which is a nice touch. Her office is in a shared complex and she makes her section warm and inviting with artwork from her younger patients. I don't often write review or report, but compel to write this summary of my dental experience with Dr. Oanh Le: * Approx 10 yrs ago, my family began to use Dr. Le as our general dentist. * My wife felt there was too much pressure from Dr. Le to have dental procedures that seem unnecessary - for example: diagnostic photographs or teeth whitening. In addition, my wife felt that the billing wasn't accurate at our expenses. After 1 1/2 yrs, my wife along with our daughter decided to move on to a different dentist. * As for me, I noticed her dental equipment and setting was outdated (and still was during my last visit on March, 2012) as compared to her office colleagues. I also noticed that she didn't have front desk and dental hygienist assistants. I felt that I could tolerate her and wanted to support her business. * In 2004, Dr. Le examined one of my existing bridges and suggested that it was old and needed a new one. Shortly after replacing the bridge, I noticed there was a strong bad odor from the new bridge and brought it to her attention in several occasions. Unfortunately, she failed to notice that the bridge had been loose, and I ended up with a major apicoectomy procedure. Apicoectomy is a root end removal surgery when a tooth is severely infected and a root canal therapy had failed. * After the surgery, because of lack of tooth remaining structure, Dr. Le suggested and used the adjacent healthy tooth to make a 4-unit bridge for structural support. I experienced 1 year of dental agony and finally had a new 4-unit bridge. FYI, most bridge is 3-unit. * In 2009, I decided to move on to a different dentist. But, in March, 2012 to my disbelief, my dealing with Dr. Le didn't end, and the 4-unit bridge came loose. * I reported it to Dr Le. She confirmed and re-cemented the bridge. Worst yet is the perfect healthy tooth which was used as part of the 4-unit bridge decayed so badly, that there was hardly any tooth left. I'm now facing with needing to have 2 teeth pulled, 3 implants and 4 crowns to correct the problem. * I was hoping Dr. Le to provide a solution to make whole of the issue, but she did not and was very defensive. I've no other recourses besides to seek legal counsel to assist me at this point. * In short, I give her a 1 star rating for her quality of work and professionalism and would not recommend her. Andrew P 6/18/12 update: The costs to fix my dental problem is roughly $10K. I asked Dr. Le to refund me the expenses i paid for her bridge work. I received a declined letter from Dr. Le stating 7 years life span for a bridge was quality work and declining to provide any compromise solutions and asking me to remove my reviews. My comments here are facts and true, and i stand by it to inform other patients. Unfortunately, in part because of the one year statue of limitation and the significant time and expenses associated with this type of litigation, i wasn't able to bring my case to justice. read more

I love my dentist! Oanh is the best! Really! It's been like having a best friend in the dentistry business. She takes care of me first, she always makes sure I'm comfortable (pillow, prophylaxis pain medication, snack,) I guess she knows the visit might take some time. For her it's all about getting the job done right and not about getting me out in 30 minutes. The shot, what shot? She's so good, somehow she realizes I'm just a big baby on the inside. I only really know I got that shot after my lips begin to tingle. Safety glasses (for the patient!), yes I'm big on safety glasses. I've worked in a machine shop environment (United Airlines, SFOPK MOC 19 yrs) with flying particles and I'm a big believer that EVERYONE around any machining/drilling equipment should be wearing them, including patients! Don't kid yourself! You know anyone who likes sharp scratchy enamel/amalgam particles in their eyes? Why didn't any of my previous dentists even consider that? She's the only dentist I ever had who bothers using a dental dam, a barrier that keeps you from ingesting the debris created when drilling your old dental work which can contain toxic mercury and what not. You ever noticed back then that your dentist was practically wearing a hazmat suit when he was filling your teeth with that stuff? These details all really take lots of extra time and effort, but she doesn't cut any corners. Her focus is on you, the patient, she understands your personal and financial needs. She's a down to earth, great person! Oh, and she happens to be a top notch dentist, completely knowledgeable of the latest dental practices, she teaches at the UCSF dental school. read more

My dentals visit with Dr. Le has always been with ease. She makes it so easy that I almost fell asleep in the chair. I have been seeing her for my teeth for about 15 years now. I find her to be very caring, kind and compassionate towards her patients. She has an amazing eye for details. She handles my teeth with kid gloves, very gentle and very careful. She is so good at informing me on how to care for my teeth, such as flossing and proper ways of brushing. She even go beyond that by mentioning dieting effects the teeth. My gums were in pretty bad shape before I came to Dr. Le. She has brought it to where it is now, perfectly healthy. She gave me a beautiful smile. I used to hate taking pictures because of my smile, she closed up the gaps between my teeth. This gave me a more confident feeling when I smile. She is so good that she goes well above and beyond for her patients needs and care. When I have problems with my teeth, she returns my calls very quickly and tries to help me immediately. She has very good dental ethics. She is not only a dentist but an instructor at the local University. I don't doubt her methods and procedures because she is involved in the latest techniques and cutting edge technologies that are available out there to help her patients' preventative care. Dr. Le is so good that I brought my whole family to have their teeth worked on by her. My children just adore her. They think she is the best dentist in the whole world. They even make pictures of the things that she tells them about teeth and what would happen if you don't keep your teeth clean. When I said that Dr. Le goes above and beyond for her patients, she worked well beyond that of lunch time to work for my entire family of 6 to get our teeth worked on. Such a hard working, dedicated, exceptionally brilliant dentist. I am so glad that she is in our lives. She brings out the bright smiles on all of my kids teeth as well as both my husband and I. I like Dr. Le and all the love and care she gives to us. She is a woman with great integrity and honor. I deeply respect her knowledge, skills and her commitment to her patients and her field of expertise as a dentist. She works tirelessly to help her patients in need. Those who have hectic schedules can come to see her on the weekends when they are available. If it wasn't for her flexible hours, I don't think I would be able to bring my whole family in to see her. I have endless tasks at hand and making sure everyone gets their teeth taken care of is a huge task. It was Dr. Le who was able to make it possible for us to have our teeth taken care of.
