We stayed in Oakwood Park Hotel on our 3rd night walking Hadrian's Wall west to east and it was a blessed relief after a not particularly nice night in a B&B in Carlisle which will remain nameless. Immediately on arrival we were shown to our comfortable room and then offered tea and biscuits in the sitting-room downstairs (this is a nice touch in any B&B because all provide tea/coffee supplies in the bedrooms but after a hard day of walking it's actually really nice to just be able to plop into a comfortable chair and have someone bring you a cup and a plate of cookies!
For supper we had a choice of home cooked food which was both delicious and very good value. I particularly appreciated the choice of vegetarian dishes. After an excellent breakfast, our host drove us back to where we had left off the trail the day before. read more
