My one and only complaint... is I drove by this library almost daily... while driving to a farther away library... it's hidden, and the sign is very easy to miss.... But since we discovered it, while looking at google maps for something else, we come here often. It's amazing. Good variety of books for sale at the front. Tons of computers available. Great selection of books, we always leave with a massive pile. We go online and get books often. read more

What a great community library! It is always bustling with activities from cultural presentations, music shows, magic shows, book sales and more. I truly feel like I belong whenever I visit. On rainy days we like to grab coffee from a local coffee shop and play in the children's area. They have several different toys for in-house loan like legos, kitchen accessories, bricks, blocks, and cars. Even though my kids have the exact same toys at home, they can play quietly for hours here. I think they enjoy sharing with different kids and the new atmosphere. The patrons are friendly and their new book selection is on point! I am always able to pick up a few books off my wishlist whenever I visit. I am so glad this place exists! read more

Oakton Library is one of my favorite places to study. There's four to five tables at the center of the library, a long table by the window for three to five people, a quiet study room divided into cubicles, two group study rooms available via reservation for a maximum of two hours (max reservation of one per week), and a conference room. The library itself isn't loud but isn't quiet either. If you're looking for somewhere quiet, the quiet room would suit you best, but the rest of the library has the ideal amount of chatter for me to focus. Charging stations are available at each table and at each cubicle as well. There is ample parking available in the library's lot, and there's never a lack of spaces. read more

It's a decent enough library. My personal favorite is the one in City of Fairfax. That's because it's a regional branch, and thus has more resources. Please do be careful going in here, as Hunter Mill Road is unique to put it kindly. Yet once in here it is a relaxing atmosphere. Also they have an excellent kids section, and sometimes they bring in guest readers and the like. This is a cozy location. I do like the building design, but it doesn't have a lot of fiction books. You can find necessary research materials, although again the computers are limited. Very nice staff. The county was smart to implement self checkout, among its options of borrowing materials. read more

For years I have visited this library in the evening and it is fine - comfortable and quiet. Lately I have gone during the day with children present. I wrongly assumed that after the children's program ended the noise would decrease. It remains noisy throughout the day and ruins the experience for all who wish to read or study. read more

extremely loud for a library. Crying children, noisy people; it never ends. No eating means nothing. Bring your subway sandwich with the noisy packaging and have a feast. The place is clean. No bums like Reston library. Most everything is organizrd and the internet access wiith computers provided in the library work ok. read more

The library opened in 2007 and has been kept up very well. Everything still looks new. They have a private room towards the back to have complete silence and they have a few conference rooms as well. Staff is friendly and helpful. Also, there is plenty of parking space in their lot. read more

The Oakton Library may be one of the most underutilized libraries in Fairfax. It's often virtually empty. There are plenty of available computer terminals whenever I need to do a quick look up. Unfortunately, that often means that they rarely get many copies of new releases. Luckily, because they are part of the fabulous Fairfax County Library system, you are able to retrieve any needed book through holds. Staff is helpful and friendly. They have several conference rooms as well as community activities like book clubs and ESL classes. With plenty of parking, it's a great place to pop in and grab anything from the latest Tom Clancy novel to a bodice ripper to a travel guide. read more

I feel like a lot of people don't know about this library. Party because it is a bit newer than the other ones but nonetheless, it's great! I love this library oh so much. The Oakton Library is well maintained and newer than other public libraries in Fairfax County. I generally reserve my books online and pick them up when it's available. The pick up station is on the right side of the library near the check-out area. Reserved books are labeled with the last name and first initial. I love that there's automated check-out kiosks available to make the process even more efficient. The two times I had any interaction with the librarians/staff, they were helpful and friendly. read more

Great Library! I went there when i was younger to pick out books, now to study. great work environment and pretty overall!

Really enjoy coming here for both to get books, as well as use their work area to work on my laptop. The book selection is not as huge as some other bigger Fairfax county libraries (like Tysons Piimit), but they always try to bring new books on hot topics. I prefer reserving books online if I need specific titles and they bring them from any other Fairfax county library for you, then you just stop by and pick them up in the Hold area once you get a confirmation email form them. Really convenient. They have a good selection of kids books. The building itself is beautiful - lots of natural light, always clean and bright. The staff is also very friendly. read more

A great place to get some studying done. Great options for studying in the main section of the library as well as plenty of places to study in the quiet room. Sometimes there are out of control kids running around, but it hasn't been that bad lately. read more
