Company takes care of you and if needed will guide you through process of utilizing what you've rented (either there or when you need to set it up). Customer service is beyond what you'd expect. I had an excellent experience here, ordering, picking and dropping off everything was super stress free. The employee was not pushy, she was extremely helpful and explained everything to me. I ordered tables, chairs and tablecloths and I suspected the chairs to be very scratched (based on past party rental experiences) but I was so impressed at how new they looked! People! Stay away. This was a terrible experience. The chairs we rented were completely misrepresented. The ones in the showroom look beautiful and the ones they tried to rent to us were all rusted, worn out and completely inappropriate to be used for a baby shower. We tried to discuss this with the manager and he came out blatantly saying that customer satisfaction is not their priority. Who would ever say that to a customer? We asked if we could talk to the owner and got his phone number. We've called twice and there has been no response. Stay clear of this place or make 100% sure you look carefully at what you will be getting from them. My wife and I ordered table cloths for our Thanksgiving dinner. When we went in to pick up the table cloths we were told that they did not have the size that we ordered but if we wanted to take the ones they had they would give us a discount. Based on the timing we were forced to take the wrong size of table cloths. On Monday, we went back to Listers to return them. When we asked for a discount we were meet with not only a no but the gentleman that was working there got sarcastic with us and started asking how the wrong size of a table cloth could affect a Thanksgiving dinner. Wow! We were shocked to say the least that a company that is focused on renting tables, chairs, linens etc. could say openly that they really don't care about quality. We have never been treated so disrespectability. Thousand Oaks / Westlake Village is a small caring community. I do not believe that we should support retailors that are rude and disrespectful. I ordered some chairs to rent for my Thanksgiving dinner. I called them up spoke with someone that was very informative she gave me options and costs, I got my chairs ordered and date to pick them up. For 10 white folding chairs it cost me $14, prices are decent. I drove in paid the front office and followed the blue line to the back to have them load them in my car for me. Simple, quick, easy and no hassle. When I walked into the office they had a lovely table display with orange and white plates and gold trim glasses- very lovely set up, they do table settings for all kinds of party events. I will use them in the future for party stuff. :)) read more

I feel that I need to write a review based on the complete lack of communication. I recently left 3 messages and sent 2 emails, waited 5 days, then I sent a reservation request and received ZERO call back. Today, I finally went down to the office and they are closed for another whole week, but NO WHERE is this listed on their site or on the voicemail message. It's unfortunate that I wasted my time trying to contact them in the first place. I have ordered from two other times in the past, the first time, the order was correct. The 2nd time, they gave me the wrong linens and were unreachable on Saturday. They did return my call back a week later that time. read more

If incompetence is what you seek, than seek no further--Lister Party Rentals is your place. The manager does not have the ability to navigate through an adult conversation, nor does she appear to like or appreciate her job. The delivery, which is $95, is essential a man who, like the manager, hates his job and anything that requires him to move more than five steps. For nearly 100 dollars, I would expect the delivery man to, at least, drop the rented equipment in the backyard NOT directly in front of the door. When I asked him to please move it, because as he could easily see, I was not in any condition to do so, he said his manager had called him and he had to leave right away. I should say that he had already moved the tables to the back, and appeared to be over this whole idea of "work". However, he volunteered to wait on the steps while I called his manager? So, he had the time to wait for me to do this, he did not however, have the time to move the large stack of chairs? While on the phone with the manager(have you ever dealt with a five year old not getting their way? That pretty describes this manager) she said she was calling the delivery man, because, she agreed, he should move the chairs. Well, I watched the delivery man check his phone, hit silence, and proceed to drive away. The manager did not want to do anything, so I am disputing the delivery charge with my credit card company, since I'm having to pay my gardner to finish moving the furniture for me(we are talking literally a yard, but I can not move anything right now). This is obviously a small grievance in the grandness of life, however, I refuse to give my money to anyone who does not value their costumers, nor do they keep their word. Do yourself a favor, use any other party rental place. Companies such as these, whose employees are bitterly against lifting a finger, should not be supported. read more

This review is meant to show how important customer service is to keeping a good reputation. We recently rented 3 machines for our son's party. There was a mix up about delivery vs pick up and we ended up having to scramble to get the machines to the event on time. One of the machines ordered was not the right one and well it just didn't go our way with these machines. However when we called Listers to tell them what happened and the problems we faced they took care of adjusting our bill and "righting the wrong". We were very appreciative they took this position as we would definitely use them again in the future knowing that things can go wrong in party planning but when they do they can help make things better. Definitely recommend using them just because of this experience. read more

I worked at the old Lister store from 1976 to 1978. We all worked 11 hours a day with no time off for lunch. The hours were from 7am to 6pm. Those were some looooong days! Jack ran a tight ship and told me some things that have kept my integrity straight all these ensuing years. I've worked at eight different rental yards since and every one was run...well, like a "sinking" ship compared to Jacks. It's no wonder with Corey running the show, it's a good a rental yard as you'll ever find. I'm surprised he hasn't expanded but with the way the area is so plugged up, there's just no room for expansion. I moved there in 1957 as a 3 year old and watched how Thousand Oaks slowly deteriorated with expansion brought on by the Janss Corporation. I guess it wasn't too bad when my mother sold the house my father had built 34 years later for 75 times what Dad had in it! Ahh, the memories of the old Lister store. Nick Nolte as a customer having a BB rifle fight with a friend, customers backed up out the office door, burning up in the summer, freezing in the winter...I could write a book! This place has it all! Every year we have a birthday party in the backyard for our kids. As luck would have it, this year my 8 year old really wanted to play musical chairs. So, we swung by Lister Party Rentals to rent 50 chairs. After exploring their showroom, we ended up renting a cotton candy machine, a snow-cone machine, a popcorn machine, and the ultimate in party fun.... a chocolate fountain! The prices were so reasonable that I let my 10 year old talk me into a dance floor with laser lights, which I have to say the adults got a lot more use out of, than the kids. The staff at Lister Party Rentals walked us through how to use it all. It was pretty simple. Then they did me the biggest favor of all, they talked me into renting a hot dog machine, so I wouldn't be stuck at the BBQ all day. It was the first year I got to actually enjoy the party. Why this was the first time we ever used Lister Party Rentals, I don't know, but we'll definitely be back. Next year, our daughter wants to rent the bubble machine too! read more

"I was throwing a bridal shower and had no idea how I was going to organize the flow - set up areas - for this shower. I knew I needed about 30 bistro chairs (smaller bottomed chairs so I could fit them into my living room). When I ordered the chairs, I described my lack of ideas to the person helping me. She suggested some round tall tables and that suggestion allowed me to look at my "party space" at home differently. A week later - I was able to succinctly place an order for the chairs, several tables, linens for the tables and linens for a couple of my own tables, and one banquet table to put in my garage because I had to clear off all of my kitchen counters (I just moved my toaster, blender, etc. onto the table in the garage). The one brief conversation with the Lister employee paved the way for me to make a plan for two "guest areas" for the shower: standing and eating/game playing, and sitting/eating/watching gifts being opened, I've used Lister Party Rentals a number of times and have always been pleased with the rental items. I've picked up items, and other times paid to have items delivered because they won't all fit into my minivan. Delivery and pick up is done quickly and the men doing so have always been very efficient and pleasant. The best tip I can give you is if you're planning an event and need to rent things, start planning several weeks in advance. Don't wait until a week before the event and expect to be able to get what you want when you want it. I've learned that sometimes items aren't available on short notice; sometimes things have to be ordered; or in my case, if you have no idea what you're going to do or what you'll need, a conversation with one of the rental staff may help you get your planning on the right track. One reviewer complained that the store was closed for a week when they went there (which was why calls weren't returned), hence my advice to start planning early so if this happens, you won't get stuck at the last minute. read more
