When I told the lady behind the desk I get the government rate she told me unless I have a paper saying I'm here for work she would not honor it. Even though I'm on their list as a gov employee. I even showed her my gov ID. Said didn't matter. The manager won't accept unless I had proof I was working here. I've never had a problem like this. I even told her I had my past receipts from previous stays. I've spent a few thousand bucks staying here over the last month. But after last night giving me a hard time about the gov rate which I think they should honor no matter the circumstances. I think I'll start booking at the Marriott next door.

I was visiting my daughter-in-law when it started snowing - not being used to driving in ice and snow, I called the hotel shuttle service to come to get me - they were there in minutes. The morning we were going to leave, ice covered my car. I didn't get his name, but a very kind young man working there scraped the ice off the windows for me. We plan on making this our 'home away from home' every time we're visiting in the Pittsburgh area. Thank you for EVERYTHING.

Room is hard to get into with the very heavy door, and very narrow space to get to the bed area along the kitchen due to the placement of the closet. Those things aside, the furniture in the room room was pretty worn out. The ottoman that went with the lounge chair was dirty and the lining on the bottom was hanging down. The bedspread coverlet over the duvet hid the fact that there were blood or chocolate stains on it until after our second and last night there. There were other housekeeping and maintenance issues but clearly the supervision of staff is not there or the lack of performance is ignored. The only things this place has going for it are the attractiveness of the lobby, some amenities, staff friendliness and location.

Once a thriving shopping mall, it is now close to its end, with many of the stores and shops closed permanently. The SpringHill Suites Pittsburgh is a very modern and clean hotel near the stores and restaurants still open in the area. Be careful driving into the hotel, as the roads leading into the hotel are full of massive potholes, so you have been warned. This hotel is a suites hotel and has most of the amenities that the brand usually has. This includes meeting rooms, a large lobby, a pool, a well-equipped fitness room and a very good free breakfast. My King suite was laid out in the typical SpringHill Suites format. The room has a living room that separates the bed from the desk with a wall. The bathrooms are clean and bright and have a good ceiling fan. There is a small area when you enter the room where you'll find a mini-refrigerator, coffee stations and a microwave. The rooms also have some modern touches, such as USB outlets and other easily accessible electrical outlets for more devices. The wifi is your standard Marriott Wi-Fi, with an additional tier for Gold members and above at no charge. The breakfast included hot and cold choices as well as fresh fruits, cereals, oatmeal and other items. During my visit, I had a good selection of eggs and meats to choose from. Overall, a great experience, in a modern suites-style hotel, with helpful staff and great amenities. Just watch out for the potholes when you drive in and out of the hotel.

I called the front desk and the man there did not know anything; he was able to give me a wireless/ethernet bridge, which did not solve the problem because the weak signal was not the problem. He also gave me a technical support number, which I called, and was placed on hold, which I hung up on after 10 minutes--I don't pay money in a motel just to have to call technical support: that's their job, not mine. I gave up on getting the internet to work at night. In the morning, I connected to the internet successfully again, but it was running very slow. I used to run an IT consulting business, and I have seen this sort of problem before, and it's usually a sign of a system that was overloaded. When I returned to the motel at night, the parking lot was much more full and I bet more people were using the system and it was simply overloaded. They also must really be skimping on their connection, because even when it was working, it was so slow that I had difficulty using basic web features such as google maps. The single issue of the internet not working is serious enough that I would not stay at this place again. To me, internet not working is about as serious as a shower or toilet being broken, because it interferes with my ability to plan for my trip and can cause me to lose several of hours of valuable time. I was not offered any refund or discount as compensation, and although the people working at the place were friendly and not at all rude, they did not seem particularly concerned about my predicament.

I have stayed here about 8 times. I have never had a bad plug, seen a bug (dead or live), and have definitely never been bitten. My boo, who was staying there with me, is actually more selective than me (generally won't sleep in a hotel under 4 stars if she is in a city), and will ONLY stay at this hotel when we need a room close to her parents... The employees have been nice, there is a limited breakfast in the morning, and fresh hot coffee 24/7 I am only guessing that the other two reviews are from the Holiday Inn management or owners since the Holiday Inn next store smells like ass and costs $30 a night more. There is also a Days Inn in this strip that has the same negative postings about it. I have never stayed there, but might stop in my next visit since my mind is leading me to believe that those posts may also be libel from the Holiday Inn staff.
