First-time visit to Oakdell today. In a search for much needed nutritional supplements, it was a relief learning they're open on Saturdays. This meant I didn't have to wait until Monday to purchase from my doctor's office. The staff was very attentive and friendly, asking if we needed any help. We were surprised to see that they carry many of the same brand of supplements I normally purchase from my functional health doctor, and for a fraction of the cost! This discovery is a win as I will return to purchase supplements here from now on. read more

I wouldn't even believed it was possible to LOVE your pharmacy, but I was wrong. About a year ago after becoming increasingly frustrated with Walgreens, CVS, H-E-B and Optum Rx, I decided to shop around for this critical service. Found this locally owned pharmacy. They are wonderful. They deliver my meds to me each month. They contact my doctors when I need a refill. They follow up when the doctors don't call them back. That in itself is absolutely unbelievable! They fight my insurance company when needed. They really do go above and beyond. They contact me and explain things to me. They are very knowledgeable about rx, insurance and what-not. You do not have to simply put up with your pharmacy. Let Oakdell do their job and you will benefit. read more

What a neat place!! It has anything and everything you might ever need- medical or non-medical. Knic nacks and the like. We needed a specially compounded prescription. Yes, they have a compounding lab for when your doctor wants you to take a certain med, but wants it tweaked just for you. Maybe a higher dosage than what is usually available or something like that. Pretty cool. Medical equipment abounds: walkers, canes, scooters, knee scooters (no, I don't know what this is). Candy, Russell Stover, chips, drinks, weird little tools that my husband covets. A really neat place. My husband wants to take a couple of hours and explore the place. Remember Scriveners? Eclectic. Go there. read more

I was a loyal patient at this pharmacy before they sold the retail. They act like they are still connected to the pharmacy that is now two doors down but they are not. My doctors office and my actual doctor both contacted oak fell to send my prescription to the new pharmacy. When I arrived they told me that they had it, but they couldn't fill it because it wasn't directly sent to them. They did not call me or inform my doctor. I went two weeks without my medications because they could not give the right information to me or my doctor. read more

I have only used this pharmacy three times, and there have been issues each time. I was attempting to switch to the Stone Oak location from another pharmacy due to the convenient distance from home, and unfortunately they had to close so I was switched to the med center location. Due to the distance from home I chose their delivery service but have had late deliveries (by hours to days later). Today I was told my prescription would be ready by 3 PM and I arrived at approximately 3:45 and was told it still was not ready. After waiting another 15 minutes I asked to use the restroom because I have a 30+ minute drive home, and was told that I could not use the restroom because it is not open to the public. I have had a bad experience each time and do not feel like they have good customer service. I will not return. read more

I wish I could find an alternative. My prescription is what they advertise as their speciality, but I have issues each time I order it: from being put on hold forever, to having to wait days for it to be refilled, to constant problems with the quality of the prescription, and just plain bad service it has never gone smoothly even once! They seem overworked, unorganized, and not very happy about having to fill a prescription. Their hours have been cut short, so on top of everything else, making it even more of chore to pick up the order. It's impossible to get there before they close during the week and their weekend hours have been shortened to 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM. read more

Zero stars off customer service alone. Ironic the sign say "we care". My 5 year old son happens to be on a medicine to help his constipation. We were running errands and he said he had to poop. Frantically trying to find somewhere for him to go, we went into this pharmacy. Upon asking the lady at the door if we can use the restroom cause my kid is on medicine and he is about to poop his pants. She flat out said no as she was turning her back on us. I can understand with COVID restrooms are closed. But the way this lady looked at us and turned us away with zero tone of customer service was so shocking. You obviously see this little boy is about to poop in his pants. I had no choice but to have him drop his pants outside and let it out. I did pick it up with a dog bag but even the gentlemen in the parking lot offered to help me. It's not the refusal of service, it's the attitude and disregard shown. I Would never spent a dime in a company such as this and I urge you either. read more

So I was a moron and forgot to pack my stethoscope, which is an absolute necessity during a medical rotation. My friend was equally moronic and forgot his as well, so we went on a search for one. He somehow found this place online and so we went. This store was located right across from the UT medical campuses and was a mix of medical supplies (everything from bedpans to walkers), full service pharmacy, and also Hallmarkish gift shop. They had some questionable stethoscopes for under $13 and the girl working there was kind enough to let us take it out of the package to look at. It was pretty crappy and the girl told us that it wasn't very good as well. They were out of stock of the cheaper Littman scopes and considering that I have a very good Littman cardiology scope at home, I couldn't bring myself to drop another $300 for one. The girl who worked there (I wish I got her name because she was fabulous!) then told us a list of places where we could check for a cheaper Littman in stock. She was so helpful and friendly that a seed of warmth has been planted towards my feelings for Texas. That was quality customer service. read more

I was not expecting that this pharmacy would have the product I was looking for, and would've been fine with that. Instead they just hung up on me midsentence while I was explaining about a product for nosebleeds that I was looking for. I expect less and less from people these days but this is ridiculous for a pharmacy that is supposed to help people. read more

This location was okay until I had one self pay prescription. Then they charged me $140 for something no other pharmacy charges more than $60 for the refill. When I ask for an explanation they were not truthful and told me that was what they pay for it & would have the manager call me. The manager never called of course. I checked with the brand wholesaler and was told they pay $9.00 per unit. Their customers are not patients whom they care for on behalf of the physician's instructions they are just dollar signs. Not a place to go unless you just want to give them extra money because they want it. I won't go back. read more

If you or your pet need urgent rx, this is not the place to go. Dropped off rx on Thursday. Medication had to be ordered. Told it would be ready Friday. It wasn't. Called Friday and told I could leave voicemail for compounding team. Saturday told they don't work weekends and they needed to talk to me about price. So that means maybe someone will call me on Monday or won't but doubt it will be ready. It is ridiculous that they couldn't put pricing in system so I could approve it immediately. I used them vs AS Diamondback because my dog needed rx asap. AS Diamondback is cheaper w shipping and probably faster even in this case. So disappointing read more

I was sitting in the back up at the red light and saw all the walkers in the window. I've been looking for a new tip for my cane a while now so I pulled in to go check. The woman at the register was amazing! She looked at the cane, pulled two sizes off the shelf and tried them to find the right size! Awesome experience. Had the worst experience, tried to return 2 items with my receipt, paid cash but have to wait 1 week for them to mail me a check. I didn't ask them for the item and I would pay them later I paid cash. Bad customer service will not go back just to let you they have a bad return policy . read more

Came to this location because my prescription required me to go to a compound pharmacy. I walked in, there were several employees on the floor but none of them greeted me. There was a lady that looked at me and did not once ask if I needed help, I had never been here before so I wasn't sure which desk to walk up to so I asked the lady for help she seemed more bothered at the fact I asked for her assistance, she told me to fill out a paper for the prescription and I asked her what the pricing would be she told me $55.00 the prescription was a bit high for me being that it wasn't something that I necessarily needed so I told her never mind the lady was not helpful and never even asked if I had insurance to check the actual cost. I do not recommend this place as your local pharmacy. 1-26-16 I received a call today telling me that the prescription I sent in four months ago is now ready. Thought that was funny. i am a colostomy patient and happened to have an emergency one day. I was about ten minutes away and it was 10 minutes before they closed. I called and asked if they could stay a few minutes late so I could get there, i was told that they would not wait a few minutes past seven to give me enough time to get there on my scooter as I was told that they closed promptly at 7 PM. Well going as fast as I could on my scooter, I arrived just as they were leaving, I explained my problem to them. The girl that was with me by the colostomy supplies did not know the first thing about colostomy supplies and on top of that they were willing to sell me a whole box of what I needed for $39.00 (I had $30 on me at the time) but would not sell me a single wafer, only a whole box. This is NOT the pharmacy to go to if you need colostomy supplies in an emergency! Other pharmacies that carry colostomy supplies sell or even give colostomy supplies in emergency situations. After all, a leaking colostomy bag is not only a safety issue but a HEALTH issue given the fact that one is dealing with human waste. Oakdell Pharmacy, your customer service is terrible and deserving of the 1 on the review scale. I will not step foot into this pharmacy again. read more

Yes getting a compound medication is a great idea because it can be custom made, but the service at this pharmacy is horrible. You will be on hold easily for 20 minutes. They will transfer you over and over again. I had to get a refill approved. I spent an entire week of calling every day, and being put on hold every day for 10 minutes at a time. It was so horrible. I finally had to call my doctor's office and have them call them. I then ended up having to go without my medication for a couple of days because they couldn't get it done in time. It was the worst experience I've ever had with a pharmacy. It's like they know they can treat people this way because they are the only compound pharmacy in town. read more

Having used Oakdell at the Quarry years ago I decided to use the Louis Pasture location when our insurance changed. I will be using the Quarry location again even though it is much further away. Since Jan. they have not been able to fill an order with accuracy or within a reasonable time frame. Not one order has been totally correct or filled without a hassle. If I go to pick it up, after having called to verify it is ready, the pharmacist always need to "check it". I leave ample time for refills from the doctor (2 to 3 days) yet, somehow each of my doctors offices is blamed for not faxing the scripts to Oakdell. I have watched them being faxed while at my doctors and there is still always a problem. Either all my doctors offices (6) have suddenly gotten incompetent or it is the pharmacy. I am on quite a few meds and need accuracy. Nice people, they just can't get things straight even after you leave detailed messages. (Like; here are the 13 scripts I need filled. Please call me when you have filled ALL 13). I am so paranoid now I check the pills appearance and number to make sure it is the correct medication. It has been but they have three times tripled the scripts. read more

My husband has been very ill so my stress level is at overflow and there are lots of things going on in our lives right now. During his illness we have encountered many helpful healthcare workers from Medical Assistants to Physicians and their attitude and compassion mean a lot to my husband and me.Today, until I talked to Nancy at Oakdell I thought it was going to be a day void of helpful healthcare workers. I called Oakdell after calling about 5 other Medical Supply houses and explaining to them that my husband had suddenly become unable to walk and needed a walker right away. Every other place I called could make me no promises about when they could get a walker to me explaining that they had a process to go thru , and on several occasions seeming surprised that I wanted it today. I am not sure what part of MY HUSBAND CAN"T WALK they didn't get.. I explained the situation to Nancy and she was the first to respond to me "I am so sorry" when I explaind the urgent need for a walker. They got the walker to me in an hour at a cost less than the other stores had wanted to charge and even called up to make sure the delivery went well. I will never forget the look on my husbands face when he was able to stand up with his walker after a day of being unsble to move without a major strugle. There may not be much I can do to get him better but I will forever be grateful to Nancy for helping me get that walker to him . I might add I am still waiting for a call back from the young lady who explained to me that there was a process . Thanks Nancy. read more

On the referral from my mothers' dental surgeon, I went to Oakdell Pharmacy to fill a "Compound", medication, for her upcoming surgery. Upon entering the store, I was promptly greeted and attended to by, the Pharmacist on duty, Scott Sumner's. Since this was my mothers' Rx, I had to step away to the car and ask my mom, if she had any medicine allergies, which I did. Scott, then proceeded to tell me it would be a, "few", mins. and he would have it ready for me shortly. My mother is elderly, with a handicap, and has trouble walking, so this is the reason I have to drive her to all her medical appts. and errands. On top of this, I too have a job, and it's very important to me that things get handled for me, in a timely manner. When I was told it would take a few mins. I asked Scott, it I had time to drive down the road, to have blood drawn, for her upcoming dental surgery. He said, yes, and it would be ready by the time I returned. After the blood test, (which took almost an hour) I returned to the pharmacy, to pick up her medicine, only to be told by the pharmacy tech., it was going to take an additional 30 to 40 mins. to prepare. Needless to say, I was upset, because I didn't have 30 to 40 mins. to spare that day. She asked if I would like to speak with someone else because, the time frame she gave me was the best they could do. She was nice about it and apologized for the inconvenience. Scott, then stepped up to also apologize, and told me that a "He", was working on it as we spoke. I then asked why he himself had told me almost an hour ago, that filling this Rx, would only take "a few mins", and why after almost an hour; it not only was "not ready", but would now take an additional 30 to 40 mins. to have ready. Now, Scott was very nice, but when time is scarce, this does not help my situation. I asked him who, "He", was, and why if he himself was a Pharmacist, why was someone else having to fill the prescriptions. Scott, told me, that they now employ, highly skilled techs. who now prepare and fill the prescriptions and a Pharmacist, checks it before it's given to the patient. This was alamarming, to find out that someone other than a, "Registered Pharmacist", was mixing, preparing, and dispensing, a prescription, and not having a pharmacological degree to do it. My mother has had incidents in the past where, the wrong dosage was given to her, by a pharmacy, and she was rushed to a hospital and almost bled-out, and died because of it. It was for cumidian, and she was given almost 2x's the correct amount by this other pharmacy. Now I wonder, if it was because, a highly skilled tech, filled the Rx.,instead of a "true pharmacist". Needless to say, I'm very worried about the present medication, given to me that day,since it was filled under duress, and haste, because I was not pleased with the time frame,after they dropped the ball on it. My mother as well, is now, afraid to take the medicine, especially, after her last episode. I am very upset and the explanation of having to mix this particular medicine, every time it's prescribed, really does not answer why he couldn't have filled it himself since it was he, who was on duty and gave me the original time frame. On top of this when I checked out, I had some additional purchases which were not given to me when I left the store, and I had to return to pick them up. This was my first time, using this pharmacy, and I will make sure her Doctors', refer another place in the future. If I may add, everyone was very "nice" to me, but I still felt, "put out" because of the inconvenience and worry I was subjected to. This is "my oppinion", but I hope it helps someone else out there. read more
