For the most part, we've had positive experiences with many of the staff and teachers at Oakcrest. There are some wonderful individuals who truly care for the kids, and I want to acknowledge that upfront. That said, this review is not directed at them--it's directed at the organization, leadership, and ownership behind Oakcrest. We've had two children enrolled here since 2022 and have paid over $83,000 in tuition--never missing a single payment. We've supported the school, told other families about it, and truly tried to be good members of the community. Recently, our youngest was accepted into a new program, and we gave 35 days' notice that he wouldn't be returning. Unfortunately, I missed the "re-enrollment deadline" by 12 days and was hit with a $200 re-enrollment fee. I take full responsibility for missing the cutoff. But what shocked me was the complete lack of empathy or understanding from leadership. No flexibility. No conversation. Just a cold response quoting a handbook. I wasn't asking for special treatment--I was asking for basic human decency after years of loyalty. To make it worse, the communication around this policy was minimal. We received only one reminder in March--no follow-ups, no texts, no push notifications through the app. And yet, they'll call or message multiple times if your child has a mild illness. So it's not a tech limitation--it's a priority issue. Oakcrest brands itself as a "preparatory academy," but at the end of the day--it's a corporate daycare with a polished image. They're quick to run book drives and food drives (which families support), but when it comes to truly valuing long-term families--they've made it clear where their priorities lie. If you're a family comparing child care options, I'd encourage you to look deeper than the branding. Our experience has been a harsh reminder that no matter how much time, money, or trust you invest--you're still just a number on a spreadsheet to them. Disappointed doesn't even begin to cover it. read more

TCCA has been such an amazing place to provide care for our daughter. Everything is run so professionally and the level of care and education is second to none! I can't help but think how much value this place adds to our lives when helping balance work and family! Thanks for all you do! read more

This Review is from a parent-This school is absolutely amazing! They understand the direction education is headed with new age technology. I do believe my child will be more than prepared for kindergarten. They even have a cool program that allows parents to order dinner when dropping off in the morning and when you pick up your child dinner is ready as well. Just awesome! Well worth the price. You can do a visual tour online but your heart will melt once you visit in person. read more

If I could give them 0 star, i would do that. This place only cares about your money and nothing else. My family had covid and I spoke to these people to push our start date out by a week but they still went ahead and charged us from Oct 1st, no care or concern even in this pandemic situation. Just because my kids were sick and i failed to followup on phone call( even though i sent them an email) they didn't considered it. I anyways still went ahead and send my daughter after 10 days and paying them extra money from Oct 1st. My daughter is a very happy kid n she cried all day in this daycare even after coming back to home, she cries herself to sleep. The first thing in morning she wokeup is that "I dont like that class". We went to discuss this on going issue, after completing 1 week in daycare and the owner couldn't care less. They brought my daughter out, assuming we are here to pick her up anyways at 3:15 pm. We decided not to go ahead with this place and spare my kid from mental trauma and i told them that we want to pull her out, so they can stop the billing for next 15 days. Guess what, they still charged us from next 15 days anyways. Spare yourself from all this horrific situation and look for other daycares which are very good. read more

This school is amazing. My son has learned a lot in less than year and his speech has gotten better. The environment is very clean, a bit off the road from noises (making it private) and beautiful. This is home away from home :) Happy parent! read more

Both of my boys go to this school and they love it as well as our whole family! My oldest son went to two other preschools and we never felt he was reaping the benefits of the monthly tuition we were paying. At Tega Cay Children's the tuition is very cost competitive AND we can see the school spends money on making sure the children have the best possible learning experience. One of my favorite features is the real Chef led kitchen. Chef Zac makes real food for the kids from scratch and the daily menu is enviable. My oldest son is eating foods I probably would have never dared to make for him over fear of him rejecting it. Previous schools all the meals were frozen and it was food I certainly would not eat myself...there is something wrong with that! I would not make my child eat anything at home that I would not also eat myself, his school food should also be the same and thankfully now it is. They also have a new weekly take home meal for busy families and we have tried all but one dish and the food is better than restaurant quality. This allows us to have at least one night to spend a little extra time with our boys before getting them ready for bed. TCCA also has a ton of weekly ancillary programs for the kids at NO EXTRA COST. Previous schools we had to pay extra for our oldest son to participate and we felt obligated because if he saw other kids getting pulled out of class we did not want him to feel left out. At TCCA all the kids get to participate. The current classes are Robotics and Engineering (where the kids have been making lego robots and learning how to program them on the computer), Mr. Music (fun and active dancing for the kids), Karate... and previously they had glasses like fitness, yoga and a gymnastics style class. They rotate these classes out quarterly (I think or maybe it is semi annually). The playground is amazing and it is made to look like a tiny town. It is so much more than some hot plastic slides out in a small court yard. The kids get to play in a large area and run around to their hearts content. I do wish there was an accessible bathroom for the children outside but that is my only critique of the school. The teachers and staff are wonderful and they actually tell us about our children's days... you can tell they are also proud of what is being taught in their lesson plans. They even have a classroom for kids ready to move up into preschool but aren't quite potty trained fully... Ms. Quilla was instrumental in potty training our oldest child; I really do not think it would have happened so quickly if it was not for her and that transitional classroom...what other school actively tries to help with potty training??? No place we've previously encountered. I could go on forever with all the pluses at this school. I wish we had more friends with children so I could refer them all to Tega Cay Children's Academy. The owners, the Ott's are fabulous and have paid attention to detail to make the school a warm and inviting experience for the families and kids. read more

We have had our children enrolled at TCCA since they opened. We have been very happy with the school and highly recommend it! Our children love going to school and come home talking about all the things they learned and how much fun they had participating in the school enrichment programs. Our oldest is in the prek program and is more than ready for kindergarten. Highly recommend TCCA you will love it! read more

Tega Cay Children's Academy opened to the community in August of 2015. A second location in Steele Creek opened in January of 2019. As of April 6, 2020, both locations are now doing business as Oakcrest Preparatory Academy, but the ownership, philosophy, and operations all remain the same.

The owner and director, Kailee, promptly replied with enthusiasm, telling me multiple spots were available for my child's age group. Great news, right? We toured the school on Wednesday. Kailee greeted us, led us to her office, and began her sales pitch: teacher-student ratios, art shows, the "extras" they offer. Not once did she mention teacher names, qualifications, or experience--things any parent would want to know. When I asked about staff education or degrees, she had no clear answer. "I think one might have a master's degree," she said vaguely. When I asked about handling challenging behaviors or redirection policies, again, no clear answer. For someone running a school, that was alarming. The tour itself? Fine. Saw a dirty fishtank. Typical corporate franchise feel. Nothing special. She handed me paperwork, explained the enrollment steps, and told me all I needed to do was register if I wanted the spot. So Thursday, I did exactly that. I got the doctor's forms, submitted everything, and checked off her entire list. Then Friday morning, I receive an automated message saying I'm on a waiting list. Confused, I email Kailee for clarification. That's when she replies: "Hi Charlotte, It was such a pleasure meeting your family & sweet CHILD. I loved watching her excitement for the learning space. We'd love to have her join our school community! Unfortunately I was mistaken about the Tuesday/Thursday space when you toured- I have a space in the Older 2s class, but CHILD is just a bit too young for this age group & would go into the young 2s instead. The Mon/Wed space filled right before you registered by a family that toured earlier in the week & completed their registration just before yours. I'm so sorry that the space is no longer available as it was when you toured." No apology for the bait-and-switch. No professional courtesy to call me when she knew the spot was gone--just excuses in an email I had to initiate. So not only did it take her days to "realize" my daughter's actual age--even though I gave her birthday in the very first email--but I'm also supposed to believe someone conveniently toured and registered before me? Here's the truth: If you want transparency, if you care about teacher qualifications, behavior policies, or basic honesty, look elsewhere. The GOOD news: Fort Mill has plenty of ABC Quality Rated schools, where teacher qualifications, safety standards, and curriculum quality are regularly evaluated. This school is not one of them. Save yourself the time, stress, and disappointment. The director avoids accountability, doesn't answer calls, and communication here is minimal at best. TL;DR: This place will sell you frills, avoid your real questions, and then pull the rug out from under you. Warmly, Someone who actually wants a safe, quality environment for their child--not just a place to drop them off without standards or oversight. :)

He was very quiet and to himself. We were on a waitlist for Oakcrest, then a friend of ours recommended Ivybrook and their half day program. We took our son on the tour and fell in love. His eyes brighten and he was so happy. The registration was seemless. Kailee was very professional and answered all my questions and concerns. Our son is much more talkative, less shy, and plays very well with other children. His first day of school, he asked me to turn around and take him back. The staff is super attentive to him. If there were any issues or concerns in the classroom, they were handled immediately with care. He's learned so much here at Ivybrook, the only thing we regret is not taking him here sooner. We've noticed how much our son has grown, how well he speaks, how much he enjoys school and we love every bit of it.

It was a no brained then to transition our two boys to the Tega Cay location. We were disappointed from day one. The infant room was good for the most part, attentive with food, breast milk, and diaper changes. Once in the Toddler A classroom they taught good nap habits and for the most part were great with my youngest. There were several teacher changes so after a while we received no updates from them, and saw our son no longer progressing with his speech. For our oldest, we told them he was just turning 4, but they put him in a room with 2-3 year olds. There was an immediate teacher change and the kids stopped doing any workbooks or had any control in the room. I complained and then suddenly he was moved to a room with kids advancing to Kindergarten for the following year. This was night and day and he flourished. Unfortunately the head teacher retired and they merged two classrooms into one. Almost 30 4-5 year olds with only two teachers. Again we saw these teachers overwhelmed and our oldest seemed to no longer be progressing. It boils down to poor administration. These was very poor communication from the Director who took a long time to respond to parent inquiries or emails. Teachers often complained to us about lack of support from the Director, hence the turn over. We ultimately moved our boys in less than a year to another local school and are very happy there.

Despite the multiple complaints and opportunities that we gave the school they still didn't want to work with us with the unenrolling fee. Lisa deleted and added messages in the parents app as she pleased so the rude messages from the teachers will not appear. One of the teachers in the afternoon class was rude to me and told me to lower my voice , and be quiet when I was telling my son to roll his mat to come outside. Lisa decided not to work with us and charge the full upcoming month just because we saw it is not safe for our son anymore. How can we keep our son in that environment? When I brought that up to the teacher she said that she was not aware of him having been hit and that he should tell her if someone hits him. When we left, no one seemed to care. There was a conversation about him finishing off his last few weeks in a different classroom which went unanswered. We had previously experienced a preschool with admin and teachers that were warm and personable and took an interest in each student individually, but switched due to scheduling needs. This school was not like that. He learned, but this was not a warm, caring environment towards the students or parents, so we're putting him back in his old preschool. To be fair, I did like Ms. Margo in admin and my child's favorite teacher was Ms. Lana who is the enrichment teacher.

Originally she was still on breast milk when we started we had no issues with milk being distributed they follow the standards and go above and beyond for quality control still to this day when it comes to food or medicine. All lunches are refrigerated and heated up daily per standards. One of my favorite things is the standard they hold the teachers to and don't mess around when it comes to safety they will report themselves for something other schools tend to overlook. A few teachers have changed classes to be a better fit for the curriculum. In the evenings teachers are sometimes used in other classes to cover and make sure the student to teacher ratio is still good. Our daughter had been with them almost 3yrs and the the knowledge she comes home with is amazing since this is a STEAM program school. We have looked at other schools (to see what else is out there) One other nice thing they have is a machine called halo I think and it's a sanitizer that's also used in nicu units of hospitals. This past cold and flu season was a breeze I feel a lot of it attributed to this machine and the diligence of the staff on making the kids wash lots

There so many thoughtful touches, a pathway for my dads wheelchair, mulch barriers from my neighbors wild flowers, storage for our kayaks. The transformation was huge, it's like a whole new house. Third job: (Last fall) paid for manual pulling/removal of Bermuda grass from garden beds, plus weed control and mulch. Emphasis on manual removal - explicitly was told they would pull all the Bermuda out manually to get all the roots out. Took a bit of chasing around to get them to actually get it on the books, and then when they did come they just buzzed everything with a string trimmed and sprayed weed killer over that. We agreed to still pay the full price on the condition that Gairy would send a team out in the spring once the Bermuda woke up and inevitably came through the mulch since it wasn't removed. He agreed, and we left it at that. Flash forward to this year and has completely ghosted us and been non-responsive. Even tried asking about having a bunch of other services added so that it wouldn't be a totally free trip, but still No luck. We finally gave up on any hope of getting the promised services, hired Mr. Outdoor Living, dropped like $4K on services with them instead and will be sticking with them next year when we do a sprinkler system and stone retaining walls.

Well since I have previously posted a review it will not allow me to update a new one. So here I go. This is our last few months at TCCA after almost 3 years there. We are beyond grateful for the development and education our son has had. We have been blessed with Ms. Quilla, Ms. Megan, Ms. Shakaara Brown and Ms. Tracey. We can't say enough about these teachers and his afterschool one "Ms. Love" aka Ms. Courtney. All these teachers have a special place in our family now. We highly recommend TCCA. My son is beyond where he is "supposed" to be when entering kindergarten. He knows Spanish, Math, all his colors/shapes, history- states/capital/bird/flower, science projects, sight words-beginning of reading books...etc... We couldn't be more thrilled with his development. No school is going to be perfect, but TCCA does everything they can to make sure every family is taken care of to the best of their ability or what the state allows. We had previously attended another facility in Fort Mill and after an incident that caused us to leave immediately, TCCA helped us take care of everything so that we could start right away. In the 2+ years that my son has been attending TCCA he has learned so much and had great teachers at every level. All students are involved in enrichment activities and they do not cost extra, which is a major plus compared to some of the other options in the area. The daily menu is also fantastic and healthy - my son eats way better at school than I can get him to eat at home! All in all this is a top notch option for little ones and you will not be disappointed!! read more

We have been very pleased with our son's grow and development at the Tega Cay Children Academy. The computer lab is one of his favorites. He started when he was just 2yrs of age and now he's 5. He will be graduating in May 2018 and we are confident that he is ready for kindergarden. We reside in Charlotte, yet each morning we make the trip to Tega Cay, SC for his schooling. All of his teachers have been loving, knowledgable and very supportive in his growth. We also love the fact that TCCA host many family friendly events to celebrate with the whole family. We considered another option in Fort Mill for our son's preschool year until we saw TCCA. When we called to schedule an appointment we felt welcomed and safe- two things were ultimately wanted for our little one. From there we have been impressed and blessed each day he comes home to tell us about Mr. Music, what Ms Liz and Ms Christin shared with him that day and of course all the fun in yoga and outdoor play. As newcomers to the area we could not be more thankful for the work being down at TCCA with our youngest. Not to mention all the activities for families! read more

I was a student there, to some it up in 3 words it was awful. The staff is always arguing the administration is a mess, the place looks good but if you spend a day there its crazy. The staff has very few people left who are good at there job they employ 50 people there they have gone through nearly 250 employees in just 2 years! To top it of its expensive to go here. If even somewhat love your child go somewhere else for else your child and wallet will thank you. read more

Our daughter attends Tega Cay Children's Academy and she is almost 2. We are constantly kept up to date on not only what our child is doing but what is going on at the school. They're also great about hosting family events around Holidays for us to enjoy with our daughter! We love how they focus on outside time, get healthy meals, and keep us informed how how our daughter is progressing with the curriculum in place. We would highly recommend! read more

My daughter loves TCCA! She always comes home with stories to tell from her day so I know the teachers are keeping her engaged. They also really show an interest in the kids. Teachers from 2 classes ago still get excited to see her in the hall. The center itself is set up really nicely. They have a big outdoor playground and 2 indoor play spaces for rainy or cold days, or other activities just to give the kids a change of scenery. read more

We love TCCA and highly recommend it to anyone looking for childcare. We were at another facility and everything from the hours, location, and cleanliness of the facility is better. We love the Tadpoles app that's they use and the fact that we get pictures of our daughter every day vs. being posted periodically online for the whole world to see. If you are in the Fort Mill/Tega Cay area there is absolutely no child care facility that even comes close to TCCA. From the great facilities to the family-like staff, TCCA represents the best facility that we have seen. Our son has attended TCCA since he was 4 months old and loves his teachers to the point that even extended family members know their names. This school is amazing and my kids are thriving! I have 2 kids enrolled and they love it. The staff and teachers are fabulous. My kids are learning so much every day and they love to go to school. It has a great play ground, activities (such as music class, dance, soccer, and local guests), lesson plans, special events and so on. We are so grateful for this great school! read more

After two and a half years , we are still in love with TCCA. After we moved to the area and looked at numerous school's for my son, we finally found TCCA. He is all smiles each and every day. This is a second home for our daughter and after been through many daycares in past couple of years, we were finally satisfied with Tega Cay Children's Academy. This facility is very diversified with their activities and keep kids active all around the day. Food Menu is healthy and above all teachers are awesome. read more

Both of my daughter's have attended here and it has been an excellent experience. The staff is incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and willing to assist with anything we have needed.
