Originally she was still on breast milk when we started we had no issues with milk being distributed they follow the standards and go above and beyond for quality control still to this day when it comes to food or medicine. All lunches are refrigerated and heated up daily per standards. One of my favorite things is the standard they hold the teachers to and don't mess around when it comes to safety they will report themselves for something other schools tend to overlook. A few teachers have changed classes to be a better fit for the curriculum. In the evenings teachers are sometimes used in other classes to cover and make sure the student to teacher ratio is still good. Our daughter had been with them almost 3yrs and the the knowledge she comes home with is amazing since this is a STEAM program school. We have looked at other schools (to see what else is out there) One other nice thing they have is a machine called halo I think and it's a sanitizer that's also used in nicu units of hospitals. This past cold and flu season was a breeze I feel a lot of it attributed to this machine and the diligence of the staff on making the kids wash lots

For the most part, we've had positive experiences with many of the staff and teachers at Oakcrest…read more There are some wonderful individuals who truly care for the kids, and I want to acknowledge that upfront. That said, this review is not directed at them--it's directed at the organization, leadership, and ownership behind Oakcrest. We've had two children enrolled here since 2022 and have paid over $83,000 in tuition--never missing a single payment. We've supported the school, told other families about it, and truly tried to be good members of the community. Recently, our youngest was accepted into a new program, and we gave 35 days' notice that he wouldn't be returning. Unfortunately, I missed the "re-enrollment deadline" by 12 days and was hit with a $200 re-enrollment fee. I take full responsibility for missing the cutoff. But what shocked me was the complete lack of empathy or understanding from leadership. No flexibility. No conversation. Just a cold response quoting a handbook. I wasn't asking for special treatment--I was asking for basic human decency after years of loyalty. To make it worse, the communication around this policy was minimal. We received only one reminder in March--no follow-ups, no texts, no push notifications through the app. And yet, they'll call or message multiple times if your child has a mild illness. So it's not a tech limitation--it's a priority issue. Oakcrest brands itself as a "preparatory academy," but at the end of the day--it's a corporate daycare with a polished image. They're quick to run book drives and food drives (which families support), but when it comes to truly valuing long-term families--they've made it clear where their priorities lie. If you're a family comparing child care options, I'd encourage you to look deeper than the branding. Our experience has been a harsh reminder that no matter how much time, money, or trust you invest--you're still just a number on a spreadsheet to them. Disappointed doesn't even begin to cover it.

I used to have my children enrolled in this center...Until the owners son became involved. Before…read morethat time the owners were not actively involved and the ladies that managed the center did a good job. It was affordable and while there were some issue I knew my children were being cared for by people that were parents themselves and I felt I could trust. Some things I had issue with before was the concept that toddlers and infants were "consolidated" at the beginning and end of the day and I didnt feel that was safe for the infants. They also didn't have any outlet covers on or covers on the doorknobs that would keep a small child from opening the door on their own and wandering the halls. I know children would pull chords out of the wall and walk out of the room, I also know parents bought this safety equipment for it, but they never bothered to install it. When Mr Davey (owners son) became involved and began "running" the center everything went downhill. This man should not be allowed to be around children as he has NO patience for children and their behaviors. I personally saw him scream in a childs face (aprox 3-4 inches away from their nose) on more than one occasion. I have come into the center at the end of the day to pick up my children to find one child looking alone and abandoned in the back of a large room while the rest of the children and the staff are all watching tv. There was furniture blocking the childs view of the staff and the tv so how could they see him? On top of that I can't even say how many times I came to pick up and found Mr Davey with his face buried in his phone texting or whatnot. I know they claim to be one of the most inexpensive centers around, but they really aren't and considering they don't actually teach the children anymore since the other staff left, the children are far behind other centers. On top of that, while my children got older, the rate never changed so while they claim your rate will go down as the child gets older, it never really does since they raise their prices every year. My final straw came when my 4 year old began telling me they were too sick to go to school and would cry themselves to sleep at night at the thought of going the next day. The teachers that my children had essentially grown up with had left after having paychecks bounce (by the way you can go to york county gov website and see if they have paid their taxes, as of today they hadnt) and there was no longer anyone there to show my children love, there was only "the bad man" and I could no longer put my children through that. We left and are much happier now. My youngest (now 5) is learning to read and write at the new place. I wish you luck in your search, but I cannot in good conscience recommend this place to anyone.

The teachers are attentive, patient, and truly care about each child's growth and happiness. Every day my little one comes home excited to share what they learned, whether it's a new song, craft, or fun activity. The staff communicates so well and keeps me updated, which gives me so much peace of mind. The facility is always clean, welcoming, and set up with engaging activities that spark curiosity. I love that they focus on both learning and play--it's the perfect balance. Seeing my child thrive, make friends, and look forward to going each morning is the best feeling. They don't watch your child, they don't have enough teachers and will have you turn around after just dropping your child off to come get them! Why was there ever a situation that I'm getting a call at work b/c my 2 yr old daughter stuck a rock in her nose??? Where were you?! How do you not know that the kids are throwing sand and my child's hair and face is covered in sand when I come to pick her up for the evening?? Gussie is so UNPROFESSIONAL!!! She chased me down the hall in front of everybody telling me about my account balance that wasn't even my fault! I had to get the regional director involved b/c they weren't paying attention to the account payments, and the app has been messed up since the transition from Lollipop! So this lady (Gussie) had the nerve to try to disenroll my kids over an account issue that was her fault! No apologies after the corrections were made, NOTHING!! Then there was a parent that kept bringing their child to the daycare after being diagnosed with Hand Foot & Mouth Disease and of course my poor baby caught it and was in so much pain! Not only did she catch it, but my other daughter and I caught it as well! Gussie didn't care and kept allowing the parent to bring the child after several teachers and other parents complained!!! The best teachers quit left and right after Gussie took over! Which is why they would call parents back after dropping their child off to come pick them up...there were barely any teachers there for at least a couple of months! Gussie doesn't know how to talk to people at all. She's very manipulative and condescending! She may seem nice but pls don't be fooled but that mask! I'm not quite sure what Gussie's problem is with me but it has gotten so bad that I don't even want my 4 yr old daughter to finish out the Pre K school year there so I took her out. Now she is refusing to waive the 2 week notice to release my vouchers so that my daughter can go to a new daycare. She released my 2 yr old daughter immediately but is holding my 4 yr old. And this is after Gussie, WITHOUT COMMUNICATION, disenrolled both of my kids from the before/after school care after I communicated my circumstances! All she had to do was reach out and call me! DO NOT BRING YOUR KIDS HERE!!!

They exceeded all expectations, and I am realizing what childcare SHOULD be like compared to the old daycare. Dogwood excels in the following areas that I find important: Communication: The staff is prompt to communicate on all platforms, through the app, email, and phone. Food: they send out the weekly meal plan, and it's always healthy and nutritious food that my son loves. He's a 99th percentile guy, and so he eats a lot and is never hungry when I pick him up (unlike our old daycare). He probably eats better than me most days here! Staff: I can't say enough great things about the management and teachers here. From the moment we walk in, there's a smiling face at the front desk available to help with anything we need. The teachers clearly love what they do, my son loves them so much. After a year of challenging drop off and pickups with tears at the old place, it's refreshing that there hasn't been a bad handoff since the 2nd week. He even tried to go back in after picking him up he likes it so much. Facility: it's a beautiful facility and CLEAN!! Ample parking, and well thought out. Photos: I have received photos every day, to me this is important as the old daycare I was lucky to get 1 photo a month. They even put little text with it sometimes. This makes going to work and leaving my son at school a lot easier. To summarize this very long review, Dogwood is excellent and my only regret is not coming here sooner. We do drive 10 minutes further because we feel the level of care our son receives is worth it.

As he has progressed through the different age groups, each and every class room has been wonderful. Teachers are always willing to communicate, we have transparency into his daily activities, we get multiple photos daily of his activities, and he is learning so much. The food they serve is healthy and my son loves it. He gets breakfast and lunch each day. All home made right at the school. Their education programming is thoughtful and fun, with themed ideas each week/month that are great. They value sensory learning at a young age and keep children engaged as they get older with one on one learning each day. They also have as few plastic toys as possible, focusing on natural materials. Overall we feel like my son is in great hands each day!!!

The trip itself was quite a distance, which made it even more meaningful that everything was so well organized and thoughtfully planned. It was a wonderful way to connect with the staff and some of the families. One of the most meaningful parts of the experience was seeing the parent involvement in action. While it was the parents leading and supporting the group, Ms. Skyler's natural connection with the children, her energy, and her presence stood out. It was truly special to witness the level of trust and bond between the staff, and children. There is even a mini farm and a few gardens at the school. What makes Fort Mill Cooperative Preschool unique is how they encourage and create space for that involvement. Through field trips, events, and holiday celebrations, they build a strong, connected environment for both children and families. We especially love Ms. Emmy and Ms. Skyler. The owner, director and the Fort Mill Co-op family-staff have truly changed school for my son. A huge thank you to Ms. Szilvia Fillmore, the on-site Clinical Art Counselor, who is also affiliated with Thrive Family Services. Through her support and collaboration with the staff, my son has grown in his ability to identify and communicate his needs and emotions. This was very valuable! The tools and materials she brings into the classroom were something we didn't even realize we were missing at previous schools. This is truly an incredible school, with strong values and a genuine commitment to each child's growth and development. We are so grateful for your thoughtful and engaging approach to learning.

My issues were my last few months** As I look back and question my choices to leave my kids here makes me sad. I loved a select few teachers, my girls were lucky to have them. If they had any other teachers I would have pulled them out way before I did. This is not a place that I would tell another parent to bring their kids. My daughter was picked on and picked on by one child in particular. I complained, nothing. I complained, they moved classes. That day my daughter told me he was still picking on her, they were allowed to play on the playground together? C'mon, really? I would think of another child is hitting and spitting on my daughter they would take it more seriously. I questioned them about this boy, the response was his mom was going through a hard time and she wasnt surprised he was being bad. She tried to justify it to my face. Don't get me wrong, I get hard times. The fact that the people i paid way too much money too didn't care, pisses me off. I spent way too much money here for less then mediocre child care.
