Popped over to Oakview on my lunch break. It's been awhile since I've visited and it's definitely in a transition era, but you can feel little sparks of life coming back. They've cycled through a few food vendors and projects, and I'm hoping it helps bring some real traffic through again. I think JCP and the sewing shop may be the strongest parts right now and, of course, Sarku Japan is still out here thriving. Overall, I'm hopeful for Oakview, you can see the effort, but it'll be tough to find its footing with Village Pointe, not far away, and the Westroads trending in the right direction. read more

Things are slowly shifting in a positive way at Oakview! New food vendors and projects are opening up and I think it's going to be good for generating traffic. I haven't been here for a very very long time. I was really racking my brain trying to remember when I last was. Recently I was looking for somewhere to take a walk with a friend and beat the heat for a bit and thought why not check out Oakview? This was my spot 30+ years ago to hang out. Makes me sad to see it in this current state. But everything changes. This place was a ghost town on a Tuesday evening. So if you want somewhere very quiet to hang out and take a little stroll this is the spot. The shopping options seemed very sparse but the food court had a few options for a bite to eat. The Oak View Mall feels like it is dying a very, very slow death. There are a few "mall-standard" businesses that are still hanging on, like Bath & Body Works, Hot Topic, JC Penney's, Victoria's Secret, and Spencers. It feels like there aren't many local shops there that have stuck it out as the mall has slowly emptied out. It's a little sad to see, when Westroads is a pretty bumping mall all the time, so are doing something different in their execution. There are a few options still there in the food court that are pretty good for mall food. Casareal Tamales, Sarku Japan, Vic's Corn Popper, and Mr. Rice are the ones I can think of off the top of my head from the last time I was there (and have tried them all and can attest they're good). The few times I've been at Oak View, I have seen people doing indoor walking around the mall, so I wonder if most of the business they get is from that activity. I hate to see brick and mortar businesses shutting down in the wake of the online shopping boom, but this mall feels like that might be the case for it. I hope the area may see a resurgence with new constructions in the proximity, and breathe a little life into the mall again! read more

I love the mall for nostalgia but I'm so sad that this mall has so many stores closed. I wish more people would come back to the mall. We came specifically to go to Build a bear but ended up walking around for awhile and hanging out in the food court. The food court is a really beautiful space with an open balcony eating area. I thought it was really cool. They do have Build A Bear, a dress shop with a lot of beautiful options, and I saw that a cool kids play place with a restaurant is opening up so I'm excited for that too. read more

This is a sad mall now, it's gone steadily downhill for the last decade or so. The food court is really the only thing saving it, and the old faithful stores like Bath and Body Works, Hot Topic, and Victoria's Secret. There are some great restaurants in the food court now, the Colombian restaurant and a few others. There's a play place (Kids Plays) that's on the lower level and it's a pretty fun place for kids, good price too. Otherwise, it's basically a semi-abandoned building at this point. Exactly what you'd expect from a medium-sized, struggling, marble clad American shopping mall. The last surviving anchor stores are JCPenney and Dillard's. Weekday crowds are light, making it a good place for a quick lunch, a bad-weather walk, or a hunt for a new pair of slacks. Dying malls can be scary, so let's examine a few aspects of safety: Crime: There doesn't seem to be nearly as much crime as at Westroads. Mall cops are easy to find. Disease: The common spaces are cavernous and well ventilated. My CO2 meter generally stays around 500 in the open areas, making this one of the safest indoor venues in Omaha during a respiratory pandemic. They've closed off all of the water fountains, presumably due to the long-discredited fomite transmission theory for Covid-19. Traffic: Driving around the parking lot is pretty easy, and visibility is good. Watch out for some spots which naturally funnel traffic into head-on collisions. You'll need to dodge some potholes in the decaying roadways. This being Omaha, absolutely no provision is made for walking safely from your parking spot to the door of the mall. Moral: I have to include a warning for conservative-leaning parents. As of January 2023, there are multiple stores sporting prominent Playboy signage. Along with lingerie stores flaunting their wares, the mall is not exactly a wholesome environment for kids or teens. read more

I haven't been to Oak view Mall in a very long time. Recently I went there to meet up with a group. I was really surprised by the lack of people. In the past, during the holiday season all the malls were swamped. I suppose it might be due to Covid, when people got used to shopping online more and more. I didn't walk around the mall, but I had absolutely no problem parking right in front. The food court had a lot of interesting looking eateries, but very few customers. What I saw on a Friday night does not bode well for a healthy mall future. read more

Bought a dress for my son's wedding the end of April. Noticed Saturday when I was putting the dress on, the lace was ripped in a couple places. No time to find something else, had to wear to the wedding. When I went to return the dress, was told their policy is 30 days. Was also implied dress was probably ripped on Saturday. Out of the goodness of their heart, was given store credit. Why would I want to buy anything else from this store. Horribly rude employees. read more

I feel that ever since Oak View lost two major anchor stores back in 2018, they have really been struggling to recover. I've visited this location a few times in the past two years and the foot traffic inside has taken a dive. I feel as if people are either converting to online shopping or going to Westroads Mall instead. This mall is microscopic compared to what Westroads has to offer. In the next 10 years or so, I anticipate this mall will become a direct reflection of Crossroads Mall or Southroads Mall. read more

I took my granddaughter to Dillards Oakview Mall in Omaha on Wednesday to find a pair of shoes. The kids shoe department did not have a salesperson in sight. I looked around other areas to find a salesperson to assist us in measuring her feet and finding shoes. There were none. We went back to the shoes and found a pair of nice black shoes with a strap. She tried them on and they seemed to fit. Again, I looked for someone to assist us in purchasing them. We walked to the Girl's department where I found a clerk. I gave her the shoes and she rang them up, put them in a sack and off we went. My granddaughter asked if she could wear them while we continued to shop. She put them on and we walked around the store for about 20 minutes. I purchased a pair of shoes for myself. She told me the shoes might need some powder to help her get them off and on. We put them back in the sack and headed home. While in the car she said she thought they might be too tight. The next day my husband and I took the shoes back to Dillards, in the sack with the receipt. I was told by a clerk that there was nobody in children's shoes and to take them to the women's shoe department for the return. I stood in line at the women's shoe department where a male clerk was having difficulty working the register. He was agitated. There were two customers ahead of me. Another clerk came to assist. The male clerk (someone I had never seen at the store before) asked what I needed. I told him I had a return from children's shoes and was told to come here. He took the bag....looked inside and started to do the return then stopped and said he needed the manager. The manager came over. The male clerk turned his back to me and handed her the bag saying .."She's trying to return these shoes without the box." I chimed in that there was no box to begin with. The manager took the shoes, said something about there should always be a box. The price tag was still on the bottom of the shoes and the receipt in the bag. She turned the shoes over and said "These have been worn. Now we can't resell them" I told her my granddaughter had worn them around the store yesterday and then we went home. To that the manager said that she should have only worn them in the store. I replied that she had worn them in the store. The manager then started in on the box again and said that a clerk from make up had probably made the sale and didn't go get the box. I explained that a clerk from Girl's department had sold them to me and that I had recognized her from past purchases. The manager said "I know exactly who you are talking about. She should have known to go get the box." Reluctantly and with a not so nice attitude she returned my money. I have always enjoyed the shoe department at Dillards. For years there were a couple of clerks who were so very nice to my mom. I have found many great pairs of shoes at Dillards and the veteran sales people in that department know their stuff. But, I will not return to Dillards. Something tells me it's going to close soon. The atmosphere is changing there as well as the customer service. And by the way, I have purchased shoes at Dillards in the past and have returned them after taking them home and finding that something was uncomfortable. I never had an issue with a return like I had yesterday. read more

I wish they hadn't closed most of the stores down. When I was younger I would go here at least once a week and it was a super safe mall. Now, they have maybe 10-15 stores open, and barely any food courts. I wish they go back and try to open up some of their old stores, but they are doing okay for what they have now. read more

I remember when Oak View was the new "it" mall way back in the '90s. It served as an anchor for the entire area, as subdivision housing popped up nearby alongside tons more retail encircling the mall. Well, as an enclosed mall in 2018, it's holding up pretty well. It's lost two of it's main anchor stores (Younker's and Sears), but JC Penny and Dillards are still surviving. There aren't many empty bays, which I found a bit surprising. The food court has several options, from BK to pizza to tacos. I was here just before close on a Sunday and the mall was decently busy. Oak View might be in need a of a big update in order to survive for the long run, though. read more

A nice mall, but very small. I walked into this mall with optimism, seeing as it was very new, bright and clean. It didn't take long to realize that this is a tiny place! The stores are like miniature versions of their regular selves. It has one of the smallest American Eagle's I've seen, many stores with only one associate working and a nearly empty foot court at lunch time. The "anchors" are JCPenney and Sears, with the latter being completely empty (no apparent customers or associates) on it's first floor. Many of the bigger name stores are void here, leaving much to be desired. There was a nice vibe here, as the employees were generally helpful and polite. Given the low customer traffic, it was very open and spacious, making shopping a thing of ease... If only there were more stores to choose from. read more

I still come here from time to time, but each time I come there's less stuff to look at. This mall is clearly on a downwards slope. It's such a shame because I used to love coming to this mall as a kid in the early 2000's; many fond memories of coming here to shop at Sears and eat at the food court as well as get cookies from The Cookie Company. Since then it has lost several outlets including 2 of it's anchor stores (Sears & Younkers), as well as The Cookie Company spot that I loved going to. Some parts of the mall's wings are dark and depressing as they sit there empty with no retailers occupying them, especially near the former Younkers area. Downstairs it's also very dark and empty in many places. The only places I go to here to buy something (sometimes) is Candyopolis for a Jolly Rancher drink, and occasionally Spencer's. I'll always remember when this place was a great mall to shop at. Such a shame what it's becoming. read more

This mall is pretty close to dead. Each year more and more stores are replaced with advertising billboards, and it's nearly empty every time I go here. It's also lost several of it's anchor stores, which is pretty much the kiss of death for any mall. I don't see this mall lasting another 5 years. I miss the days when this place had a waterfall that ran by the elevator shaft and the whole place was a lot more lively. read more

Desperate need to update - lots of stores are empty, the food court is just kinda gross. This used to be the 'it' mall and now is a last resort mall. Westroads is GORGEOUS compared to OakView now - and of course the new outdoor malls surpass it as well. Hoping to see them make some big time renovations sooner than later & get a big name to move in to help them w that...maybe a Macy's or an IKEA....with a White Castle ;). Wow. I remember as a kid I thought this mall was the upper scale mall. Tiny... starting to look like Crossroads. Enclosed malls are starting to be a thing of the past as all three malls in Omaha... look horrible, small and several businesses have vanished. read more

This is the newest of the major enclosed shopping malls in the Omaha area, located in the newest part of town out in the western suburbs of the city. It was opened in 1991 as the city of Omaha continued its westward expansion into the prairie and corn fields. ;-) Nowadays, it's hard to tell one shopping mall from another, no matter where in the country they're located. Most of them have the same anchor stores and the same shops, if they're national chains. Oak View Mall is really no different. The major anchor stores here are Sears, J.C. Penney, Dillard's and Younkers. There are 2 floors of retail space as well as a food court. Even the food court has fast food restaurants that can be found anywhere else in the country, including Arby's, Burger King, Orange Julius (with a Dairy Queen) and Panda Express. (I did not eat at any of the restaurants in this mall on my last visit.) The mall holds community events throughout the year as a neighborhood outreach (and also to bring more shoppers to spend their $$$). The mall is clean and well kept. This is one mall that's a must-see for the hard-core shopaholic! :-D I know I'll be back here again on my next visit to Omaha. read more

Of the three malls still in Omaha; Oakview, Westroads, and Crossroads (do we still have to call this miserable ghost town a mall?), Oakview ranks in the middle. To me Oakview is a mixture of the other two malls. From Crossroads, it borrows the less-colourful interior and exterior and at least one peak on the building for show (albeit the Oakview one is much less ugly). From Westroads, it borrows the concept of having more than eight people in the entire place at one time. But as with pretty much any mall, groups of teens who are obnoxious will clog the paths more than cholesterol clogs arteries. Sure, some of the architecture looks dated, but the crowds of people will tell you that it isn't deserted. It's a generic mall in a generic suburb. read more

Oakview is a nice place to kill some time while waiting for a movie to start, and they do have a nice food court. It's just a little too out of the way to drop in for some quick shopping, in my opinion. They do have things that Westroads doesn't, like the Fossil store, but it's oftentimes only a stop I'll make when I'm with others (like most of my shopping). read more

This mall used to be the spot in Omaha, bud sadly had gone downhill. The whole places is very out dated and the store selections are lowering as well. Food court consists of some weird places but otherwise it's not bad. They have weird stores as well that nobody would shop at leaving the place a ghost town. Parking lot is usually pretty empty and majority of customers seem to be elderly going to Dillard's or JCPenny. Used to be cool but I would not miss it if it were to shut down. read more

Mall is clean and very open. Many stores even the big ones didn't have a tenets. That being said they did a nice job with murals covering he vacant areas. The mall itself is nicely maintained and up to date just needs more stores. read more

Absolutely love this mall. Although it is smaller, it provides a great place to shop for the family. It has a variety of stores to accommodate. The mall itself is very clean and kid friendly. Lastly, the management is AMAZING. read more

It's a mall in Omaha, so leave your expectations at the door...that being said, I do think this one has a slightly better food court than Westroads...the stores are all the same as you'd find at Westroads or Village Square I imagine...it's fairly clean, including the restrooms so that's a positive...but again, it's a mall...if you've been to one, you've been to them all... read more

I just had the worst experience at Serenity Nails, I got a 15 mins pedicure! There was no message, scrub or a foot treatment. My feet were in the water for 15 mins. They did a horrible just at shaping and painting my toe nails. When I went to pay it was 30 dollars! I asked if that was for the basic he said yes, I told him I was disappointed in the service and why I was, he interrupted me and said you can go some where else then, and walked away! No one go there it's horrible service with rude people who over charge! read more

This mall is nice and far better than Westroads. It needs a better anchor though, would love to see Macy's or Nordstrom. It's a bit small and I've noticed a few "for lease" signs popping up. I wonder if enclosed malls are on the decline, in favor of centers like Shadow Lake Town Center and Village Pointe. Less chance of loitering and gangs and crime. I do feel uncomfortable inside Westroads. And I think those huge crowds in the indoor playground in Oakview are parents who bring them and are not paying shoppers or diners at all. read more

Very unpleased with this years Halloween event. Not only was there an incident that was reported on the news, but out of maybe 30+ retailer or more, I counted 6 actual retailers that actually gave out candy at this event. What a shame!! To advertise an event is one thing, but to advertise an event for children just to have them be let down is pitiful!! I feel that if your going to have an event at your establishment and advertise what a great time it will be if people come to it, but not have any retailers participate is just insane and quite pathetic. Point being....don't have event at your establishment if your not actually going to participate in the event!! We will not return next year nor will we recommend it to anyone!! read more

Not a huge mall, like others have stated. It's clean and doesn't look run down. Decent selection of stores, but there are more and more empty bays every time I come. It seems like only half the food court is ever open and the choices of food are kind of odd. I mean, it's still packed full of middle schoolers and high schoolers every day because of the Millard schools around it so I don't think it will go out of business anytime soon. Especially in the winter when people don't want to go to Village Pointe. I used to live close to here so it was my go-to mall but thankfully I will be closer to Westroads now. read more

Pretty good. Only the people at dairy queen have given me the wrong order. and i am very afraid to say something. mostly my fault but they always look mad. Bath and Body works has a great service and very nice staff!. Other food places are very good. And Aunties Ann's i very recommend. read more

This mall has been around every since I can remember. Restaurants coming and going. Plenty of stores to enjoy shopping or just browsing. A favorite store of mine that unfortunately had to relocate was Davids Briar shop. Very upsetting they left. It's connected to Sears and Dillards to walk through. read more

They almost have everything you would need in a enclosed mall. They have your typical large stores, JC Penny's, Dillard's, Younkers, Sears, GAP and more. The mall is very clean and safe for all ages. I went in today to get a watch battery replaced and it only took 10 mins. They also have a great food court! read more

I have been watching this mall go down hill for the past several years...and you would think that the restaurants would be decent. No. This time I went to burger king because was the only place with a self serve beverage machine. The Manager looked greasy and his hands were filthy...the other guy who brought the food up to the counter was drenched in sweat as if he just finished running a marathon and then sitting down in a hot car with all the windows up and then turning on the heater. Once I got my food...I looked in disgust as the grease soaked buns and stale looking patties looked back at me. This was unacceptable. I will never eat at burger king again. This ruined all chances of going to another one. I would rather eat ravioli straight out of a can than have a "fresh" hamburger from them...Ugh... read more

I thought it was a lovely mall with all the basics covered and easy to navigate. it reminded me of Oak Park mall in Overland Park KS. I liked the spacing of this mall much better. I ate at the food court and it was clean and everything I saw was well cared for I am glad its close to my new place. the mall area also has a wealth of businesses. After leaving a huge metropolitan, I was definitely looking for some awesome malls here in Omaha. Oak View was the first one I chose. First off, I didn't expect a two story mall with department stores to be so small. I remember walking through the mall and thinking, "This can't be it!" Sadly, it was. Don't get me wrong, if you need to do some quick shopping than this is the place to do it. Second off, even though it's a small mall it still has some necessities which is surprising. Can't go wrong with having a Bath and Body, Victoria Secret, American Eagle and etc! If you're looking for a wider variety, head out to West Roads! It's not the biggest mall, but it's still a nice simple one. read more

The mall is not doing well because it does not have what people want, plain and simple. Indoor malls are not necessarily on the out, why would people want outdoor malls when the weather can often be so crappy here. If the mall had what people wanted the mall would come back. It has a nice design but has been allowed to slide into being less attractive visually. Omaha is a strange retail market also. read more

No customer service area any longer to rent wheel chairs, I guess they don't want the business of those who broke their leg. Very disappointing mall now with shops leaving and services lacking. read more

I do not even want to give 1 star for customer service. I had to have a customer help me find the tools that i was looking for. The employees were either nowhere to be found or didnt know anything and walked away. I went to pay for my merchandise and the sales person threw my receipt in the trash instead of handing it to me or putting it in my bag. I noticed that I didn't have my receipt before I left the store and went back to get it. The sales person dug it out of the trash can all crumpled up with several other receipts and tried to hand it to me. I asked him to print me a new receipt and had to wait for him to refund my merchandise and ring it back up again. If you need help finding anything in the hand tool department ask a customer for help. You will find it faster. read more
