Stayed here for 10 days. The staff is super friendly and the cabins are well equipped. We stayed in…read morethe Cedar Cabin which accommodated our family of 4 with 2 young kids (2 and 9 months old) perfectly. The cabin is a bit dated decor-wise, but was clean and safe and had everything we needed for our stay. Includes a fire pit (wheelbarrow of wood $10), Weber BBQ grill, grilling tongs, grilling spatulas, indoor spatula, spoons, cast iron skillet, pizza pan, cookie sheet, pots, pans, dishes (for 8-10 people) and cutlery, steak knives, a few other knives, grill scraper, salt and pepper, dish soap, dish clothes/towels, garbage bags. Has a fireplace, though we didn't use it. Full size (clean) refrigerator, microwave, oven, electric range, coffee maker with filters (coffee not included). Full size kitchen table that seats at least 8 people. The TV is only in the living room and is super small, but has direct TV. Wifi included, though spotty at times. 2 couches, 1 of which is a hideaway bed. Room 1 has 2 twin beds and Room 2 has 1 small queen with 2 twin beds...we didn't use, odd room with so many beds, but would be good for a group stay perhaps. No tv's in bedrooms. Ceiling fans in both bedrooms and living room. Nice, solid picnic tables included at each cabin. The grounds are peaceful and quiet even when other campers are there. It is secluded, yet not in the woods. Which personally I liked because I'm not much of a camper :). There are deer and other wildlife and you can fish in 2 of their very small ponds. Our favorite part was sitting outside on the deck and enjoying the quiet evenings. We cooked out a lot and loved relaxing by the fire pit. Our parents (grandparents) camped out at nearby lithia springs campground and it was a short 1/4 mile walk to their campsite which was convenient! Lithia marina and beach are both closeby as well. Have to agree with the other reviewer about the blinds not blocking out the light. Need some black out curtains for sure. Maybe country people are up with the sunshine (?) I'm not! To be honest, the Lithia springs resort website doesn't do this resort justice. It appears the other cabins may have been nicer and newer. The floor plans say the other cabins are smaller, so we opted for space. Would give 5 stars cabin-wise, but for our cedar cabin was a bit dated and could use more and/or larger tv's, and blackout curtains ;)

We stumbled on the Allerton history in Kauai after visiting the…read moreBotanical gardens, unaware of the ties to our home town of Chicago, so we vowed to come stay here this summer. It was really nice as expected: historic house and gardens, well maintained. For quality and amenities it's more on the level of a nice B&B, with a generous cafe just a short walk away (but not in winter!). Staff were kind and upgraded our room when the small room we checked in somehow had a messed bed. Generous parking and much of the main sites are drivable. I'd love to come back in another season!

I did my best to move most of them. You can see the staff just ran over them with there quads while on patrol, lol. Not much flora from mushrooms to birds to animals wild flowers. The U of I torn down the "tea house" that the original owner was disguised with that act. With all the houses on the property why did not the U of I make a beautiful creation like they do on campus to restore history. They might have some events that are cool, but grounds not taken care of at least get some goats. If you like easy snooze trails, this if your hike, nothing here is even a moderate level, all easy. Only a honest review as always.

My husband and I have been seasonal campers at Hickory Shores Resort for almost a year. It has been…read moreand is a remarkable pleasant experience. Our grown children with their own families (our grandkids) rent spots during holidays and love coming back. The park is very clean. The crew cleans up after a storm the moment it is safe. The bathrooms and bath houses are always clean and free of trash. The new owners (they took over 5 years ago) are very attentive to our needs such as firewood, propane, etc. You always see them riding around the park waving and stopping to chat with campers. There is 3 playgrounds, a mini golf course, outdoor pool, game room with snacks and arcade games for the kids. We love this place! Such friendly folks throughout the resort. #Will.is.a.saint! Fast forward to 2019 when we were looking for a place on Carlyle Lake. Someone mentioned Hickory Shores and we immediately said no thanks. But we drove by and saw big changes. A gate had been installed and we were lucky enough to meet the new owner. She took us on a tour of the campground and by the end of the visit, we were begging to put our camper there. We are now in our fourth year of annual lease at Hickory Shores and now it's a place that EVERYONE is trying to get into. The troublemakers were moved out when the new owners came in and it's more like a family now. The pool is great, the campground get-togethers are so much fun, and we enjoy every minute we spend here.

The beds in the Rose and Lilac Rooms are Tempur-Pedic and make for a good sleep if you have a bad back. The little things go a long way here - the inn has cold bottled water constantly available and the proprietors strive to make the guests feel at home. We had an elderly relative along and he used Helen's Room which is the ADA room in the Carriage House - it was perfect for him and all went well. The breakfast is just fantastic. Buzz, our host, was a great host and made sure we were happy. There is nothing like breakfast in the dining room with the fireplace making warmth and enjoying freshly prepared breakfast. No conventional hotel can match this. Buzz also recommended some restaurants and we were most pleased with his recommendation. We really enjoyed Market Street Inn and will return in the future. If you are looking for a great Bed & Breakfast, look no further - this is it. It is worth a special trip if you are traveling on the interstates and looking for the feel of home while on the road. This exceeds anything offered by most hotels on the highway. It is a destination place to stay. I highly recommend Market Street Inn.
