This was such a super fun way to spend an afternoon! Our group was for a team building activity…read moreand this was a great event! We had perfect weather -- but can't imagine doing this in the pouring rain -- it would definitely add to the adventure. We started at a bar -- can't recall the name but there was plenty of parking, and we grabbed some waters from the bar before we left as it was pretty humid out. An important note is that it is BYOB and you can't take the alcoholic drinks off of the trolley. Bringing a well stocked cooler is a great idea. I also suggest to wear sneakers (for pedaling), and exercise clothes -- although important to point out that the trolley does have a motor so if you aren't good at pedaling, you don't really have to -- the driver can make it as hard or as easy as you want. I really liked our driver but for the life of my I cannot recall his name!! He was super funny. After a brief safety discussion, we mounted our bicycle seats. To note -- the seats are real bicycle seats and you must wear your seat belt -- I am a big girl and the seatbelt fit me. Also they have a regular seat at the very back -- My butt started hurting after the first couple of stops so I sat on the seat -- I called it my Queen seat. Also you can hook into their blue tooth to play your own music -- that was super fun! We had a local in our group, so he was able to give some good suggestions for places to stop -- Our first stop was The Johnson Street Yacht club -- a fantastic dive bar with a slide on the outside!! Very divey. Then we pedaled to the Ugly Monkey Party Bar -- another good dive bar. I know we went to one other place but I cannot recall what it was called. My group had a great time -- I would have liked to have a little more time -- we felt a little rushed at the end. However, it was a great way to see Raleigh!! I would recommend!!

Would highly recommend for big groups looking to explore Raleigh.

Basically, it is a scavenger hunt/trivia/blind taste testing event through several breweries. We had a great time figuring out the clues to get us to the next location and it took me to some places I never would have tried. I liked that it was self-guided so we could spend as much time at any of the places and not feel rushed. I will definitely check them out again and think it would be even more fun in a city that I am not familiar with (and they have locations in Charlotte, Asheville, and Raleigh)!

I thought it would be more of a scavenger hunt, but the main focus is a beer tasting test. I think the beer samples for the tasting should be small (like a half shot glass) and then you should get to pick your half pour from a select menu or something. Two of us don't like some of the hoppy beers, so my husband ended up drinking several of the beers and didn't get to buy any other beer he actually wanted. Other than that, we really enjoyed ourselves. The bartender at the last stop was particularly awesome and all of the bartenders knew what was going on and were really welcoming and cool about it.

The breweries' had great staff and awesome beer. The tours were very informative and of course we carried our drinks through the tours. I had a great time checking out Beltline Brew Tours on Sunday. This was the first tour I've ever…read moredone with them and they gave Yelpers an opportunity to check out their all new tour "JOCO" tour for $30 (normally $45). I arrived with my friends to Natty Greene's a little before 1pm and checked in. The bus arrived right at 1pm and we were ready to go. I don't know if they always use the same transportation but I noticed they were using the Bridgebus that normally takes you from Raleigh to Durham and vice versa. The bus is an updated school bus and with that in mind be aware that you are probably going to sweat quite a bit on this bus especially in the summer month. This tour took us out to Johnston County which is about a 30min ride. I do wish that they provided some local brews on our way to the first destination. I've taken a few tours in the Charlotte area and we were given samples on our way to the breweries which was really nice plus the tour guide had an opportunity to interact more with the crowd, Overall though I enjoyed the tour I don't make it out to the JOCO breweries much because it's a little bit of a haul to be drinking and driving and this tour gives you the perfect opportunity to go out there worry free. We started the tour at Double Barley by far my favorite brewery in the area. They provided way more samples then I expected and the owner Larry gave a wonderful tour of the brewery. They also serve food at DB so you had the chance to order a snack before hitting the road again. Next up we headed to Clayton to visit Deep River Brewing. I've had plenty of Deep River beer but haven't been to the brewery yet and I was really impressed. Paul and his wife Lynn have made quite a business and it's a great brewery - I love their seasonal watermelon beer. We got to hang out at each brewery for a little while which I enjoyed. DR had Sol taco food truck out on Sunday which was awesome since they were on the top of my list of food trucks to check out. We headed on back to Natty Greene's where we were given some very generous samples of beers and finished up with our last tour. Will our tour guide is a super friendly guy and everyone seemed to have a great time. I look forward to checking out another tour soon!!

I lucked out and found a parking spot at Tap Room. It is a small lot, so it may fill up quickly. There is another lot behind the building to the side or street parking is available. There was a street market, so it was harder to find. I did double-check that I could park at the bar when I checked in for the tour. Restrooms are available inside, and food and beverages can be brought on the trolley with a few exceptions. I liked this tour as we got a history lesson while the trolley was moving, and then we got to get off at different stops for a new perspective and not just looking out the windows. I still enjoyed looking out the windows and took some photos from there that weren't part of the tour. St. Agnes Hospital was our first stop. The stone hospital was rebuilt and opened in June 1909. It was during the Jim Crow Era for black citizens, as they were not allowed in white hospitals. We also stopped at the Heck-Andrews House. We learned of a secret tunnel and that there used to be a baseball stadium where a parking lot sits today. Devereaux Meadow was a minor league baseball stadium. I never knew a grand "Castle" (the original Meredith College) once stood near the Executive Mansion. It was a hotel and state office buildings at one point, too. It's wild that it's just a parking lot now! We got to see one of the trolley stops of the Glenwood line. It took people to Bloomsbury Park. It had electric lights at the trolley park. There was even a roller coaster, carousel, and a dance pavilion. Heather was an amazing tour guide and shared her knowledge and love of the city with us. I look forward to taking more tours with her.
