And she delivers when it comes to showcasing extraordinary talent at a fraction of the cost, making for a memorable experience. The Merc pays weekly tribute to the Jazz art form on Thursday evenings. This small, quaint venue has comfortable seating and a refreshment stand providing wine, soft beverages, and snacks. This Thursday, "Jazz At The Merc" hosted the Louis Van Taylor Quartet, comprised of acoustic piano, upright bass, drums, and Mr. Van Taylor on tenor and soprano saxophone. The performance was perfect! Contemporary, modern Jazz with heart, soul, and talent! Highly recommend.

THE MEMORIES! I've had several fun adventures here at The Merc! It's such an endearing little venue…read morethat is a significant part of Old Town Temecula history and the city's history itself. The classic mercantile store has been converted into a music/performing arts venue for local and smaller-scale traveling talent. The staff are super nice and they keep the place in wonderful shape! There's a little art gallery when you enter that has a piece of the venue's history on the walls. The box office to both the Merc and Temecula Community Theater can be found here. I've had the pleasure of visiting the speakeasy performances and a couple plays and I LOVED them! Shoutout to the Dracula production last fall, it was so much fun! The Merc has table and high-table seating. I think the seats could be a bit more comfortable and there should be a bit more spacing. However, it's understandable as this is a smaller venue. The back of The Merc has restrooms and a Snack Shop where you can buy wine, candy, etc. during intermission. The Merc is in the heart of Old Town Temecula so there's a plentiful amount of restaurants and bars you can visit before or after an event. Note: The Merc has weekly Jazz and Country events!

Mosh for Youth is one of my favorite music fests around. You get to see tons of great bands and…read moreprofits go towards scholarships for less fortunate students. This year we got the usual great lineup but instead of the DIY style show in a parking lot, Professor Vic moved it to the Cathedral. Located right off Garey, The Cathedral is tough to miss. There's plenty of street parking on Center St and there's also a small parking lot across the street. This used to be a YMCA but it looks like an old church with dark wood flooring, high ceilings and stained glass windows. A very cool venue. How did it sound? Loud. Extremely loud. They also had a huge video board which gave each band a little extra hot sauce. There were a couple of bars in the back and you could also order food. It's air conditioned in there but between the heat (100+ outside at the time) and the amount of bodies inside, it was at least bearable. Mosh for Youth was great as always and while I loved the DIY ethos in the past this felt like a leap forward. The sound, look and venue made this feel big time. I hope future MFY shows take place here...until they maybe outgrow this place too, which would mean more scholarships for the kids. Highly recommended!

Opened on time, with quick security screening. There was a merch section and restrooms (spotless) located in the lobby. We had general seating tickets, so we had the freedom to choose where we sat. And what choices there were! The seating is varied and allows for comfortable seating for everyone. Whether you're in a large group, want a cozy high top for two, a counter seat to chat bar style with others, or want up close and personal floor access, there's a spot for you. There's even balcony seating! The sound system was clear and well balanced. My friend mentioned he would've liked it a little louder. Indeed, it was a "comfortable" volume. Our waitress was quick and friendly. She was fair, in that she told us up front they charge for water (I think it was 6 bucks). She said sometimes customers get upset about that. Our drinks were good and the price was about what we'd expect at a venue. We didn't order food, but the plates traveling by us had appealing presentation and smelled delicious! My first time here, but I'll certainly jump at the chance to come back!
