I paid good money (not cheap shoes) and they always fall apart within a year or so and "mall shoes" aren't repairable (glued and stitching falls apart). I also have issues with one of my ankles and have a doctors note for my bunion. So, I called ahead and spoke to the man at Oak Bay Shoe. He said he can fix me up. 100% or he won't recommend anything. When I got there he looked at my ankle and assessed my bunion. I have extended insurance so he is making me some custom orthotics. I told him what I was looking for in shoes and him and his wife found me various styles. Lots of great stuff. Fourth pair was the charm: Nice brown leather with rubber soles. These are good and rugged for with my kids; but they are not chunky like doc martins. They will look fine at the office and not track mud. He said he can repair anything on this shoe. *Perfect* He said they have been in that shop now for 25 years. I can see why. I was made to feel like a king. I also bought a pair of slippers. I bought the good ones and they are *fantastic*. I also have some nice dress shoes that have never fit properly. I am looking forward to what he can do with those as well. Great job. I love hopping into the high seats for a shine and some good conversation! They also perform all of the typical shoe enhancement and repair services (e.g. re-soles, cleaning, stretching, etc.).
