O Silleiro is a restaurant that Gayle and I walked to for Lunch from our Hotel (Talaso Atlántico), This establishment is located only the Camino Portuguese Coastal Way. As Gayle and I had just finished the Camino Ingles just a few days earlier, we also took this as an opportunity to check out the route (and way markers) near the restaurant.
We also ran into a few Slovenian Pilgrims, who were wrapping up their day, but were curious what was good on the menu. Our conversation also included their Camino experience and Luka Dončić, NBA player and fellow Slovenian citizen. We recommended the Cod, which Gayle and I found very tasty, albeit a little bit expensive and maybe beyond some Pilgrims' budget.
Our meal was good, although somewhat unmemorable. The restaurant itself has a really nice view of the Ocean and a huge dining area. We came in a little late and after whatever rush they had. Yet, they were very accommodating and friendly (and to the Slovenian Pilgrims who came in later), and offered us a nice selection.
As Gayle and I are now seriously considering a Camino Portuguese Coastal Way pilgrimage (probably from Porto to Santiago) in the undefined future, perhaps we'll meet up with O Silleiro again, albeit from a different perspective and maybe time of day. Buen Camino. read more
