Gayle and I stopped here for Lunch during our first day in the area after driving down from Santiago de Compestela. There's also a hotel here and very nice indoor seating. We chose to dine within the large outdoor terrace, and with a nice view of the water. As is often the case in Galicia, there were short spurts of drizzle, but the patio was well covered with umbrellas.
This is one of the few places during our trip to Spain, where I went with the "burger". Actually, it was more of a knife and fork dish with various cheese, onion, and other flavorings. As with other restaurants we frequented in Galicia, there were always potatoes served too. However, we found that a separate order of Patatas Bravas was even better. Gayle stayed with seafood, which for us, almost always included Chipirones or Baby Squid. The Adult beverages also flowed including a "starter" beer (1907 Estrella Galicia) and a bottle of Albariño to share with the meal. It was all good.
It was an enjoyable couple hours, as in Europe the table is yours until you decide that its not. One bit of drama was when Gayle spotted a dog that we couldn't see the owner. "Leave no Dog behind" is what she says. Luckily for us, the owner showed up and I didn't have to imagine Gayle trying to bring the puppy home.
We left full and happy, and headed off to walk along to coast, including around the nearby Parador. Our only regret was not coming back to Downtown Baiona during the evening to further explore what looked like a fun bar and restaurant scene, all within a couple blocks of each other. read more
