That was a wonderful find - delicious and very authentic Portuguese food, close to the airport hotel zone, and had that amazing neighborhood feel. Portugese cuisine with plenty of options. The helpings are plentiful & the food is terrific. Staff is very friendly & attentive, which adds to the experience. This is a very good Portugese restaurant near Hearlthrow. It was walkable from the Doubletree where I was staying. The storefront looks a little dive-ish but the interior gives a cozy, intimate feel. It felt a little like having dinner at home. The decor was suitable to the atmosphere and I did not feel like I had to wedge into my seat, as is the case with many small establishments. The place seemed like a family-owned and -operated business and my waitress appeared to be part of that family. One of the nice aspects about that is that they really do care that your experience is satisfactory. She was quite pleasant and attentive and generally added to my experience. The menu was somewhat varied. The fried (grilled) octopus caught my eye and I decided to give it a try. It came with potatoes (I asked for chips) and a salad. It was indeed very tasty. I also started with the green broth soup that contained chorizo, which was good as well. With food and drink, my bill was £21.50 when all was said and done. This was rather reasonable for what they delivered. If I stay in the area again, I would not hesitate to make a return visit to this place. read more

My wife and I were staying at a hotel nearby and like to eat at local restaurants rather than eat hotel food. O Saloio was just a short walk away and is a hidden gem. The menus prices are a bit higher now post-pandemic, than what one sees online, but that is very understandable. Both the food and service were superb and portions were quite generous. The cuisine is Portuguese. My wife had the Limpets in garlic and butter sauce with bread and pate while I had the grilled sea bass in white wine and garlic sauce with fresh vegetables. Both were excellent. The house white wine went well with both and was also very good. We finished the meal by sharing a very generous slice of passion fruit flan. Don't pass up this restaurant if you are looking for good value and a great meal. read more
