I genuinely want to support small businesses like this one, and I keep giving it just one more try, but I'm sorry to say that this place continues to disappoint. The atmosphere is actually very nice-looking, except for the abundance of flies. As for the food, I can only speak of the lunch experience, because I've never tried the breakfast menu.
I find that fresh, healthy options are missing from the menu. For example, there is no appealing large salad option. By this I mean something uncomplicated, like a large salad with a good variety of fresh vegetables, similar to a big Greek salad. They do offer a Cesar salad, but for those who are avoiding carbs, meat or dairy, what is left is just a bowl of lettuce. When I go out to a restaurant, I want to eat something that I might not go to the trouble of making at home.
One then turns to the veggie panini. This used to be an acceptable healthy option. Now it comes on highly processed white bread (like a typical hot dog bun), with an unexpected slice of Kraft cheese (not mentioned at all on the menu), which I would never choose to put into my body. For me this puts the meal into the "severely unwholesome" category. The paninis and sandwiches have always come with a sizable serving of crispy coleslaw, and very good fresh fried potatoes. Now the coleslaw has become a one-or-two bite serving, and the once yummy potatoes are about half the serving size of very thinly sliced potato chips.
The one item that seems to be the most fresh and the most healthy is the Canadian pea soup. If you are in the mood for a good bowl of soup, this place should satisfy. read more
