When I first reached out, I was in a fragile state navigating a divorce involving domestic violence. Even though he wasn't able to take my case, he generously offered a free consultation where he not only helped validate my overall approach, but also showed genuine compassion and understanding. What stood out was his willingness to go a step further--he helped me sanity-check the lawyer I was planning to hire, which gave me much-needed confidence in my next steps. Six months later, when I found myself struggling with a lack of responsiveness from my attorney and growing concerned about delays, I reached out again to see possible options and if switching lawyer would be necessary. Once again, he was incredibly generous with his time. He didn't just listen--he provided clear, practical strategies that helped me re-engage my lawyer effectively. As a result, my case moved forward and was ultimately resolved within two months. One time, I was so stuck, Angelo called me immediately when he saw my message without any charges. I also really appreciated how thoughtful and efficient he was in preparing for the consultations. The information he requested ahead of time ensured that our conversations were focused and made the best possible use of investment made. His professionalism, empathy, and willingness to help--even without taking on the case--truly set him apart. I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a knowledgeable and compassionate family law attorney.

I did the self-service thing with the Hayward court but it left me with more questions because I couldn't figure out what path Divorce.com did for me. Dave took one good look of my pile of mess and he was like, "this is no good, it'll get rejected". Lesson learned: have someone local to do your uncontested divorce paperwork. He got the right paperwork with Hayward's filing formats and filed my paperwork for me. All done within 24 hours. For the amount I paid him, it was worth it and it was a similar price to Divorce.com! I felt like I got the short end of the stick with Divorce.com who did half of what was supposed to happen. Anyway, thanks, Dave! A Quick Serve definitely. He's friendly, earnest and a real character. Very knowledgeable and has a lot of interesting stories to share from his life and work. Tip to driving to this place: enter via C Street and Main Street and park on Main Street. Google Map's direction is confusing if you're driving up on Foothill Blvd because you can't turn left on Main Street. I'll update this post in the future whenever I get a from the court and my freedom.

This means the last thing you want is an attorney who is non-responsive. Steve Lau Esq. has been 100% responsive in my two-year journey. 2) Honest work for honest pay. Imagine it is stressful enough to go through this process. Another last thing you need is an attorney who takes advantage of the "billable hours" at your expense. I find Steve Lau, Esq., is a rare breed because not only I feel he is fair in billing but also he is considerate of trying to help you save some unnecessary cost. For example, in some cases, where appropriate, he had suggested to directly contact the Petitioner so that I did not have to incur the cost. 3) High caliber. The Petitioner had to use his forensic accountant to sort out complicated stock options involving an European country! 4) In Yelp, when you find someone like Steve Lau, Esq., having a 5-Star reviews 100% of the time. That is as good as gold. So, save your time and choose his representation over other "all-smoke-but-may-not-have-fire" representation.

We expected for Bob to exploit this and make us pay excessively. He did quite the opposite. His number goal in cases is to settle them, not drag them along to milk funds dry. This form notifies the court that your new attorney is now representing you, often replacing self-representation (in pro per) or a prior attorney. There is no court filing fee required for submitting the Substitution of Attorney form. This is a standard statewide rule for superior courts handling family law matters like divorce. https://selfhelp.courts.ca.gov/substitution-attorney 2) We met for 5m just to sign 1 paper that he is now representing me. 500 usd for 5 min. 3) Next time we met was only to hand him a check and let him know that he is no longer needed. Handling of check was charged another 500 usd as considered as a meeting with the client (obviously). While he may partially technically be right in terms of meetings only, think again if you like to have this kind of ethics follow you during your case and weather something like this should cost 1,500 USD.
