I recently needed a real estate attorney for a non-transactional matter. I contacted several…read moreattorneys from SJ to SF, including the East Bay, and found that their responses generally fell into the following categories: 1) Ghosted / never returned my calls. 2) Some replied with a menu of fees with one asking for a $600 consultation fee (a neutral statement, not a judgment on how anyone runs their business). 3) Several days to respond to each message. 4) One launched into a monologue about how he could take my case all the way to the Supreme Court. Eric was the only attorney who responded the same day. He even took the time to decipher my nearly inaudible voicemail, which had been garbled by poor cell reception. He was direct and transparent from the start and spent more than 30 minutes speaking with me before deciding to take on my case. He is exceptionally intelligent, efficient, and highly knowledgeable about real estate law. The level of time and care he devoted to my case made me feel like I was his only client. In addition, he is a skilled litigator, making him a one-stop resource for any legal issues that may arise. He will always be the first person I think of if I or my friends ever need legal advice. If you need someone who is a master of his craft and doesn't play games, Eric is the one.

Dear Q. Chen Law and Associates,…read more Your email updates are only to keep a record for yourself, you have not updated the client for anything that they need to know such as timeline, expected completion and or even a percentage of completion. 8/22/24 you received retainer (I even asked your associate about the timeline they said to ask you, I left you phone messages no response) and took you 4 days to request for additional documents on 8/26/24, we gave you all the documents in 2 days (8/28/24), then you completed the document on 8/30/24 for only 2hrs and you already racked up $2,000, which is fine if you give us actual updates like whats been completed, what we still need, etc. This draft was only 3 pages long approximately 800 words. Then it takes you until 9/9/24 (9 days/7 business days) to tell us updates will be SOON (vague) without any other information. This is what you call law practice? Then on the same day you sent us a bill to replenish the retainer!!?? Then the following day 9/11/24 you asked to schedule a meeting without saying for what and why? NO details to how far along are we with the draft? Isn't it vague to just say answer more questions without status update to how long are we with the draft? Then you dare to terminate the contract with us without explaining yourself or remedy the situation? You're not afraid that the customer wants to terminate you? To other potential clients, this is by far the most unprofessional law firm I've dealt with. I've seen lawyers draft up leases and insurance documents almost an inch thick and only take 3-5 business days. I'm sure in your studies customer services and ethical practices is part of it, unless you feel like your skills are more than adaquet to neglect them?

I learned a lot while I was there, including things like drafting motions, attending hearings, propounding and responding to discovery, etc. She also made sure that her employees were comfortable in the office environment. We also often had group outings with the whole office to places such as escape rooms or just eating out together. It was a lot of fun working for Quynh!

When I first reached out, I was in a fragile state navigating a divorce involving domestic violence. Even though he wasn't able to take my case, he generously offered a free consultation where he not only helped validate my overall approach, but also showed genuine compassion and understanding. What stood out was his willingness to go a step further--he helped me sanity-check the lawyer I was planning to hire, which gave me much-needed confidence in my next steps. Six months later, when I found myself struggling with a lack of responsiveness from my attorney and growing concerned about delays, I reached out again to see possible options and if switching lawyer would be necessary. Once again, he was incredibly generous with his time. He didn't just listen--he provided clear, practical strategies that helped me re-engage my lawyer effectively. As a result, my case moved forward and was ultimately resolved within two months. One time, I was so stuck, Angelo called me immediately when he saw my message without any charges. I also really appreciated how thoughtful and efficient he was in preparing for the consultations. The information he requested ahead of time ensured that our conversations were focused and made the best possible use of investment made. His professionalism, empathy, and willingness to help--even without taking on the case--truly set him apart. I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a knowledgeable and compassionate family law attorney.
