Legit! Neapolitan style pizza in the middle of Firenze/Florence?! Hubby found this place on google and it didn't disappoint! Frankly surprised by the low reviews - the pizza was pretty perfect (shout out as we know the complexities as we try to navigate home pizza making with our Ooni). We ordered the MARADONA ( Margherita con nduja, burrata fresca, basilico | Tomato sauce, mozzarella, spicy sausage, fresh burrata, basil). The Nduja was pretty lovely. Had a great kick and my mouth was actually pretty spicy by the end of the meal! The fresh burrata was a great touch. But seriously, the star of the show was the dough. NGL - the restaurant was pretty toasty from the giant wood fired oven in the corner! Because we were sharing - they gave us these cute lil' half moon plates that flanked the pizza perfectly. Cute! Also appreciated that there was no judgment from our server for sharing. Service is as expected in Italia. Unhurried, leisurely & I'm here for it! We had dinner here our first night in Florence on the recommendation of our local host. We were glad we used a navigation app to walk here because we never would have found it on our own! It's on a narrow street and the name on the place is subtle and blends in with the building. As with pretty much everywhere during high season, a reservation would be a good idea. We visited in late September, and were lucky to get a table without a reservation as long as we agreed to vacate in about an hour and 15 minutes given the number of reservations for a later time. We started with the mixed antipasto and it was a huge amount of food! I think the default at many places is that they provide a full order for each person at the table. This would have been enough for dinner for us, but it was all so good we ate it all and then still made a good dent in our pizzas. The assortment of meats, cheeses, and fried items was delicious. The pizzas are Neopolitan style and were delicious. The crust was the perfect chewy consistency on the edges and thin in the middle with fresh, delicious toppings. We enjoyed some local beer to go along with the pizzas. Heads up for those visiting from the US, pizzas are not served cut here as sharing isn't the norm and it looks like most people each order their own, and eat the whole thing with a knife and fork. The atmosphere was lovely; we were in a gazebo-like area that gave an outdoor feel while being inside. Service was good, and we did manage to get out by the target time we agreed to. read more

While the restaurant was clean, and there was a wonderful duo playing....the rest was subpar. Only 2 waiters for the ENTIRE restaurant. After waiting 20 minutes our order was finally taken. The ravioli was cold and frankly lacking in taste. The pizza was great but could have used a few more minutes in the oven as the center dough ended up just being wet and unmanageable. Located just steps from our hotel, 'O Munaciello feels like one of those hidden gems you hear about! (+) Great atmosphere and interior! The brick, cathedral style arched ceilings is just classic Italy! Lots of pictures and decorations are posted all about creating a fun and vintage Italian vibe! Dim lighting really help set a laid back and mellow vibe. (+) We loved the food! The margarita pizza was cheesy and tasty! I really enjoyed my stuffed calzone. So incredibly delicious! They do not skimp on portions and it all tastes so good! Also enjoyed a glass of house wine that was recommended by our waiter. All in all a very tasty classic Italian meal! (+) Prices are not bad at all! Actually quite fair for what you get. (_) Service was okay. Not terrible, but a bit sterile. Seriously the best pizza crust EVER. I'd eat just that! The antipasto was a meat & cheese heaven. The pizza Margherita was light with a beautiful tomato sauce & plenty of cheese. O'Munaciello is fantastic, really great pizza. The interior is really cool. With arches in a big dining room, exposed bricks and small wooden tables it has a great neighborhood vibe. The fried apps - mozzarella, cod was really tasty. But the star of the show is the pizza.Had the margherita and the spicy salami with bufala mozzarella and they were fantastic Napoletean style pizzas. This is a family friendly, quiet and relaxing place in the middle of Florence. It is on the other side of the river relative to the train station. The waiter that served us was friendly and service oriented. We arrived early, so at around seven, and there were plenty of seating available. The table cloth is depicting a game that many Italians used to play in their youth. And so, it was a great way to pass time between ordering and waiting for the food to arrive. I have lived in Florence, Italy for over 8 years now and used to always recommend this place as a fun ambience, good pizza and general vibe. It has become pretty famous over the years and on any given day is packed with people looking to soak up that southern Italy charm. I decided for this reason to bring my boyfriend's parents last night for dinner on Pasquetta {easter Monday} The night started off on a weird note when the front-of-house woman couldn't find our reservation, not that big of a deal but without communicating anything with us, she just left the podium in a hurry to confer with someone else across the restaurant which stressed us out. My boyfriend asked if everything was ok and she rudely snapped back 'i said I would let you know' which clearly wasn't true because she didn't even confirm the fact that we made a reservation. We finally get a table and from their the service is very poor. It took forever to even get drinks ordered and our server seemed annoyed that we there as customers. My boyfriend and his parents all ordered a pasta dish with clams and I ordered pizza. While it is not uncommon to get your orders at different times, I live here - I know the rules, my pizza was nowhere in sight when they were finishing the last of their pastas. We had to flag down the server who seemed confused about our pizza and said she would check while another separate server returned with the pizza after about 10 minutes and apologized for the 'chaos in the pizza kitchen'. The pizza was pretty ok but I didn't even try to flag them down again for olio piccante or any condiments. Dessert was pretty bad too since we waited so long to place our order we asked some random server for two baba's (typical dessert from Napoli} which he kindly put in for us. The dessert itself was just ok. I love 'babas' but this was very dry and didn't have that soaked rim flavor that it usually is supposed to have. Then comes payment. We asked to pay and they told us they would bring us a check, knowing this can take forever in Italy, I suggested that we go pay in the front. My boyfriend's dad gets up to go pay and the women front the front of house that I mentioned earlier grabbed his card and walked off with it {which is a big no-no for any French person since ideally anyone can grab your card details}. When he approached the desk in the front she quickly took the card out of the machine and shared a glance with someone else before running the card again, which made my boyfriend's parents quite nervous {I assured them everything was ok but since they own a shop, they are more sensitive to this}. Wow, as you can imagine after being treated like the dog 'merda' that you can see often on the outside sidewalks, I won't be coming back anytime soon or recommending this place to anyone. Go to Pizzaiuolo or Pizzaman, or anywhere else where they actually treat you like a human being. It's really sad because I used to enjoy this place and its close to my house. Went On a recommendation but was pretty disappointed. The pizza was ok but not great. Dough was fine. Toppings were fine. Just nothing to write home about. But the main thing was the service. Our waitress was lovely and I sympathised, but we waited about 40 mins between being given the dessert menu and being able to order. They were very busy, she was absolutely run off her feet, but maybe put more staff on? One of the best places to get great pizza in Firenze. I had the truffle buratta pizza. It was absolutely delicious. My only gripe is that there was a lot of crust on my pizza. Anyways the cheese and flavor of the pizza was fantastic, definitely recommended when in Florence. read more

In my opinion the best pizza in Florence. The dough is made to perfection and the ingredients fresh and tasty. It's nearly always busy and usually very loud, I think it adds to the atmosphere, but if you're looking for a place for a quiet romantic dinner it's probably not the place for you (unless you hire the privée). The prices are a little high but overall a great dining experience! I usually have a simple buffalo margherita which is always great but have also tried the ricotta stuffed crust which is fantastic aswell! read more

Probably the worst Italian food you can ever have! Please avoid when coming to Florence. I ordered a pizza and never received it after 1 hour of waiting. The waiter just offered me the bill and nothing in exchange for the mess up. My wife ordered the seafood pasta and the pasta itself was not even cooked. Fried calamari was super salty and oily. The Olive Garden would have sufficed for tonight's dinner. Being that this was my first Dinner in Italy, to say it was a disappointment would be a huge understatement... horrible service and the food is much worse If that were even possible. read more

Yummy pizza in a fun setting! A local Florentine told us to eat here and it was very satisfying. Our waiter was nice and attentive. The choices are endless - so many good options - with lots of local foods used. Our pizzas were SO good, but were too big for us to finish. There were Italians eating here too, so even the locals clearly like this place. Also, it is on the South side of the Arno, so there are a lot less tourists and it's very romantic to stroll home along the river. Highly recommend if you are hungry! read more

While I was visiting Florence this November my friend Jitka recommended a traditional Naples style pizza and this was one of the the best pizzas I've ever had...'O Munaciello was very busy and a bit noisy and the location of my table was too near the server's station...But that's the only reason this place is not getting 5 stars! Good pizza in Florence, and a solid dining option as well as the restaurant itself is fairly nice as a sit-down(though forewarning, it is as dim as a nightclub in here with the only light being from candle essentially.) Pizzas run around 10 euro each, and the dough is fresh and delicious, with enough chew to make it taste substantial but thin and soft enough not to weigh you down. It's a great vessel for the ingredients, where you can taste some nicely spiced tomato sauce and fresh cheese and meats. That said, they tend to skimp a little bit on the meat which is a bummer, but if you stick to some of the pizzas with more of a focus on cheeses and vegetables instead, you will leave home happen. Got a little bit of the Melanzane e Salsiccia and the Genevose, and those were some fantastic pies. read more

The pizza was the best we had during our recent trip (though we were just in Rome and Florence and not the south, to be fair). The dough had tremendous flavor. 3.5 stars?! You gotta be kidding me! I lived in Florence for a year. San Frediavino is my favorite restaurant there, but this is a close second. Roman Jewish Artichokes (carciofi ala judea, I believe, sorry for the spelling...) is the best appetizer, thought he straciatella cheese is also stupidly delicious.
