When we first purchased our house, we had some reservations about the build of our raised deck over…read morethe driveway. We knew it was an early 80's build, over 300 sq ft, and looked sturdy enough, but certainly wasn't the greatest construction. Over the years we patched it up ourselves, but it became obvious this winter that it needed some expert work. We reached out to a few deck companies to see what could be done to fix it within our budget. Ironwood was the most prompt response we received. After informing them that I am immunocompromised, they offered to give us an estimate via email to reduce contact. While we had hoped the deck could be fixed, Wagner made us aware that, while they would be happy to patch the deck for a few years of additional service, it was not built to the appropriate safety standards and that replacement was a better option. They also agreed to rush along our project as they were worried about the stability of the deck, seeing issues we had no idea even existed that made it demonstrably more dangerous for our family than we'd thought. The process moved very quickly after we signed the contract. They brought samples and left them at our door, measured the deck without contact, and were always prompt and thorough in responding to emails. They showed up every morning at 7, and completed the deck within 2 weeks. They were not only exceptionally respectful and kind to the adults, but they-Frank, in particular-made an effort to speak to my kids every time they saw them. While we could have gone with a fix, we are incredibly happy with having had a new deck put in, instead. Although we did receive less-expensive estimates, Ironwood's build quality is above and beyond what we could have ever hoped for. I'm pretty sure we could host a party for elephants on there and it would hold up just fine. I can not recommend Ironwood enough.

David provided a complete estimate in October 2023 and aimed for a December start date which he adhered to despite the requirement to involve my HOA design Committee and a structural engineer for the project. From start to finish, the project was completed on schedule, as described, with the flexibility for upgrading flooring which I later requested. The team was competent, professional and ensured my complete approval and delight with the project. Additionally, the total price was lower than my estimate from another company (a National chain) which planned to use materials of much lesser quality and did not include new decking and rails. I can enthusiastically recommend Zapp Exteriors after my experience with David and his team. The service was exceptional as was the final product.

If you were to see my other reviews, you would know that I am very discerning when it comes to landscape work. I have hired and fired three landscape companies due to how bad their service was. This company is the absolute opposite, and they have earned a lifetime customer. I had a backyard landscape job that I designed and they installed. Jason, the owner, worked with me every step of the way. I was impressed by how dedicated he was to picking the best trees and plants and getting the placement just right. He helped me with my plant choices when I wasn't sure about what I wanted. And his crew is so skilled, professional, kind and attentive. They all admire and respect their boss Jason (which to me speaks a lot about the kind of leadership he provides as a boss). I have to say, the whole process was actually a complete pleasure. My landscape looks incredible! Way better than I even expected. I give this company 5 stars across the board for everything from skills, to attentiveness, to cleaning up any messes, to cost, to timeliness, to responsiveness. I would give them 100 stars if I could! If you are trying to find a good company to do your landscaping, give Cedar & Soil a call. I know you will be delighted with your landscape. I had high hopes when I met with Dan, the marketing guy from TNT Decking about tearing out our old…read moreconcrete front porch and installing a new wood deck. He was pleasant and friendly and convinced me that his teammates did excellent work, but...marketing people sometimes spin fancy words. That's why they're good at what they do. But...Dan's teammates were NOT what he promised. I won't go into excruciating detail about all the ups and downs of the L-O-N-G process, but suffice it to say: we contracted with them in July for an October start (which was bad enough, but we knew about COVID-related delays so we were ok with that.) BUT...November came and went with no word from anyone. When I called to follow up, the Foreman acted like a whiney baby, making excuses about *how hard his job was!* - and...there were so many typos in his text, I could barely read it! Totally unprofessional on both counts. This went on a few more times: I followed up, and they made excuses for the delay. Finally, just before Christmas, they dropped off the materials at our house. We thought, "Finally!" But it was another three weeks before the crew showed up. And...when they finally did, *they had no idea* of the scope of the project! They didn't have specs, they didn't have the jackhammer they needed to remove the old concrete, and the didn't have the industrial dumpster needed to haul away the debris!! The crew left that morning, without saying a word. Just disappeared. When I called the Foreman again, another lame excuse. More delays. Early in the process, I asked Dan for his recommendations for a concrete contractor for after the deck was done. (We needed new sidewalks around the new deck.) He referred me to a guy named Eddie. Eddie made a meet-up appointment with me for an evening in September. I left work early to get there by 4:30 to accommodate his schedule, and he called me 10 minutes before I got home to ask if he could come the next night instead. I agreed. The next night? He never called, and he never showed up. Never heard from him again. By the time they finally finished the deck *at the end of January,* it was too cold and snowy for the new concrete contractor we hired to pour the new sidewalk we need, so, ever since, we haven't been able to use our front door. In and out through the garage only. When I suggested a discount on the project from TNT due to their company's several errors, poor communication, and three month delay in completing the job, they said no. Can't do that. Really...can't??? So I immediately knew my only recourse was writing a cautionary review. Note: the deck itself looks nice. But the ridiculous clown show of ineptitude we had to deal with makes me confident that ANY other decking company would have been a better choice.
