As an American, I've never had anyone stop me from ordering too much food, but the lady here had no trouble telling us we didn't need a fried meat plate. So we made due with delicious sardines and grilled squid. We also drank what was basically a tankard of vinho verde. I was drunk before we had the house pudding, which I think was the kind made with beef fat, giving it a rich, sweet and just-a-tad savory flavor combination.
The outdoor seating was nice, even on a hot day. It's cash only and they don't speak much English here, which meant that I had to intervene when an American tourist could not process that a table had been reserved, and she couldn't sit there. It worked out fine. read more
