Update to my last review. My first review was short and left out to much that needs to be said, about NYBRA and Dr. Ron Israeli. Life gets busy but, I will never forget the road to healing. And, hopefully help another with this review.
Some history:
Unfortunately, Dr. Ron Israeli was not my initial Plastic Surgeon (PS). If he had been, I wouldn't have required abdominal wall repair and, so many corrective breast reconstruction surgeries.
I reside in Florida and, was diagnosed with breast cancer years ago. I had a bilateral skin sparing mastectomy, with immediate reconstruction utilizing the Bilateral Pedicle TRAM Flap. My initial breast reconstruction was done by a Florida PS.
Insight: I "highly discourage" the Pedicle TRAM Flap reconstruction. Learn more by searching "Pedicle TRAM AND abdominal complications or hernias." There are many risks associated with this type of breast reconstruction. Atypical hernias (weakness in abdominal wall), is the main one. There is more information on this complication on Dr. Israel's website. Please research before having this reconstruction. This reconstruction is not worth recreating breasts.
I found Dr. Ron Israeli after reading his online publication: Reliable hernia repair after Pedicle TRAM Flaps. I was desperate to find the cause of my lower abdominal wall bulging after my Pedicle TRAM Flap. I contacted his office immediately and, flew up to consult with Dr. Israel the next month.
Later that year, I had a successful hernia repair (related to the Bilateral Pedicle TRAM), done by both Dr. Ron Israel and Dr. George Denoto (in tandem).
After healing, I continued to see Dr. Israeli for staged breast fat grafting surgeries. I had little trust for PS's... but, completely trusted Dr. Israel. The travel from Florida to LI, NY over the course of 3 years was so worth the end results!
Attributes that led me to trust Dr. Israeli (yes, I'm gushing because all of these are true):
He takes time with his patients to listen and observe. He's compassionate and realistic. He ensures his patients know all viable options for reconstruction. He's honest on what is and isn't achievable, and, has an artistic eye for the female breast form...OCD (in a great way!)-- a true perfectionist that's attentive to the even the minute details. He's not satisfied unless he and his patient are satisfied with the end results. He's skilled in all forms of breast reconstruction. Dr. Israel excels at corrective work after poor reconstruction done elsewhere. He continues to follow up with his patients after reconstruction is completed. He and his staff understand financial difficulties and work with both patients and, their insurance companies.
Finally, NYBRA centers around breast cancer and reconstruction. They care for both the physical and mental aspects that happens with a breast cancer diagnosis. Their practice has support groups for both patient and their families. They have monthly and, yearly events for their patients and, charity events. For real! Check out their website! I wish I lived closer.
I can't thank Dr. Israel and his staff enough, for both the physical restoration and, their support throughout the years. He and his staff are a true blessing. I highly recommend Dr. Israel. read more
