At first it was great and Dr Hummel was a Joy and was sad when he moved away. Not sure what happened after that but things went south. The receptionist was less than inviting and almost argumentative at times. The techs were ok enough. Then my last go around was what predicated this review. I was told that I needed some sort of procedure. Said the "machine" was not working but would be shortly. After numerous calls to the booking person, most did not receive a reply the others promised a fixed machine "soon". After 2-3 months of this my wife said to use her eye doctor. (She left OCLI after a similar situation.) I went to her doctor. After a full examination I was advised I did NOT need a procedure. I'm a patient, well, patient. But being told I that needed a procedure that a second opinion said was useless, I felt the need to post this review. This is not a hasty decision as I have been seeing this doctor for over a year now with no problems, issues, delays or recommendations for minor "surgery". (Not sure what to call it.)

The last page states if you need a prescription there is an additional $35.00 fee for each one written (if you need glasses or contacts). If you need two different scripts, you will pay $70.00 out of your pocket, insurance does not cover this. I asked the person who gave me the exam and he confirmed if I need a prescription written, I will pay for $35.00 for each one! I did a lot of research and believe this is illegal. Why would I go back if I'm going to get scammed? You shouldn't go here either. Under federal law (the FTC's Eyeglass Rule and Contact Lens Rule), you are entitled to a copy of your prescription immediately after an exam is completed, and you cannot be forced to pay a "release fee," "copy fee," or purchase glasses/contacts to receive it.

As a first time patient I was assessed on time for my appointment & within 1 hr I had seen the doctor taken a few tests & received my results. Beth is the absolute perfect business owner. She goes out of her way for every single person that…read moreenters her store . She is kind, professional and so caring . I wouldn't think about going anywhere else. She is a staple in our community. Here is wha she did for me over the last few days. Remember this is Christmas week. I called Beth on Tuesday morning to tell her that there's something in my eye, but it wasn't on my contact lens and it's not coming out. I explained it to her and she told me it was a floater. Never heard of this before by the way. She then asked me if I've seen lightning strikes in my eye, which is not a good sign. Yes I told her. I was in Manorville at the time and she asked me to immediately come back to our office to be examined by the doctor. I couldn't leave. I was babysitting my grandchildren. And then it was Christmas Eve and Christmas Day so I set it up to come in on Thursday. She gave me the first appointment in the morning going out of her way to get it done. She was concerned that I might have a tear in my retina. She made several phone calls to find a retina specialist for me and Friday morning. I was sitting in Wright a specialist office who immediately performed laser procedure repairing the tear. The doctor said this could've been a lot worse if I waited. Thank you, Beth thank your staff and thank you Dr. Rua for your expertise and pushing me to go see the specialist.
