I had an issue with my eye and Dr. Wianecka wasn't in the office so I saw her colleague Dr. Blum. The problem I had was on my upper eyelid not inside my eye, this is key to my story. She diagnoses me with something prescribed me some an ointment to put on my upper eyelid for a few times a day. Dr. Blum offered no suggestion as to what caused this or how it happened. I tried the ointment and my eye immediately got extremely itchy and was getting worse not better so I called the office back and scheduled an appointment with Dr. Wianecka 2 days later. This is where it gets even more unprofessional and pathetic. Dr Wianecka sees me, I explain the situation and she says no I don't think it's what the other doctor said...two doctors same group not on the same page...pretty odd. Then she proceeds to try and blame me for the issue that occurred, and said must be an allergic reaction to something. Meanwhile, Ive eaten nothing new, no new soaps, fragrances, shampoos, laundry detergent, NOTHING, so it 1000% is not from that, very lame to blame it on the patient just because you don't know why the problem is occurring. Then she says oh the ointment that Dr. Blum prescribed has a high % of people who reported bad reactions to it...WHY WAS I PRESCRIBED THIS!? She then insists to put these eye drops in my eye meanwhile yet AGAIN I told her the issue is outside of my eye it's on my eyelid and then wanted to prescribe me an eye steroid drop. No good reason as to why either was prescribed. She made it sound like the drops she showed me in office would be cheap only to find out when I walked out I'm hit a ANOTHER $50 copayment, plus $30 for these drops. Why am I being charged another copay when I was MISDIAGNOSED and not properly treated which caused me to go back to your office TWO days later. This is disgusting behavior and I'll never go here again. I ended up going to another eye doctor and got my problem fixed immediately. The fact that I was charged another copayment when it wasn't my fault along with all of the other issues is insane. Go find another doctor that actually cares.

Normally my eye visit takes 1/2 day due to the tests & dilation of the eyes involved. My experience at South Shore eye care with Doctor Flicker was extraordinary. As a first time patient I was assessed on time for my appointment & within 1 hr I had seen the doctor taken a few tests & received my results. I highly recommend Doctor Flicker office as his assistant Ashley & all of the staff was extremely friendly & explained any test they were conducting thoroughly! I didn't have any vision problemas - I just wanted to make sure everything was fine. The initial tests showed that my vision was 20/20 with glasses. The I saw Dr. Dang Suveera, who told. me there were some minor changes in the membrane behind my eye, but that it was normal for my age. She said she wanted to look more closely at the membrane behind my eyeball. I told her I was afraid because I though she might touch my eye with the metal instrument, and I said NO. Despite that, she insisted on doing the procedure. She said that if something went wrong, she could "drain the liquid in my eye chamber with a laser". That statement made me very nervous, but she didn't explain what exactly she was going to do. When I felt something touching and pressing on my eye, I panicked and pulled away. She stopped, but afterward I felt pain and discomfort for several days, and I still don't feel that my eye is the same. I regret allowing this to happen - I had no symptoms and didn't need that test. I left feeling violated and afraid. It seemed like she ignored my consent and did something unnecessary just to practice or check something that wasn't urgent. I'm sharing this so other patients know to ask questions, refuse any procedure they're not comfortable with, and be very cautious about what is done to their eyes.

I first worked with Dr. Maisel and now go to see Dr. Shah due to scheduling issues. They're both wonderful people and incredibly comforting while lasering your retina. The entire staff here is fantastic. Very nice, friendly, courteous, and keep you laughing while they run a million tests on your eyes. It makes the whole experience rather pleasant. The only downside is occasionally the wait can be long. It's a popular practice with lots of patients and even with COVID, it's still taking quite some time to be seen. But once they do get you in the back it's in and out.

The waiting area is not much of a waiting area, more like four chairs up against the wall in the main room. The doctor was running about 20 minutes late for my appointment so I took a seat and waited. Unfortunately, there is absolutely no service at all so bring a book or a magazine to pass the time. The eye doctor was thorough and knowledgable, taking a complete medical history of myself and also family members. My prescription changed slightly and he emphasized that even though the prescription needed was slightly stronger, it was going to make a huge difference for me. I took his word for it mostly because it was the time of year where I was due for a new set of glasses anyway. After the appointmentI went to the front desk where a woman assisted me in picking out a new pair. She asked me what I liked in a frame. I showed her my current frames and told her something like those but maybe something a little bigger, more of a statement. I sat back and this woman did all the work. She went around the store and picked up frame after frame after frame, handed them to me and then gave me her opinion for each and every one. I did not feel rushed, it was so nice having someone who knows what they're doing assist you with this process. We narrowed about 30 different frames down to three and I couldn't decide. After 20 minutes or so of putting on pair after pair after pair I was still indecisive and the lady told me to take all three pairs home, wear them around for the next day or two and then make a decision. I couldn't believe she was letting me do that! I took all three home, did exactly what she said and finally made a decision. This was so helpful. Turns out I went out of town and completely forgot to return the frames and the lady called and left a voicemail, kindly asking me to bring them back. OOPS. Don't take advantage of the nice gesture like I did! Anyways, once I decided on frames, I called and let her know, she put the order in and said they would be ready in about 4 days. The lenses came out great but the frames were lose around my ears and needed to be tightened. Perhaps I wasn't measured properly when I came in but I think all they need is some adjustment. Very satisfied with the overall experience for the most part!
