I had an appointment today at 9:00 am at SightMD Amityville (and have a card with the time and date of the appointment). When I arrived at the office, it was closed. At the same time, another person was there for their 9:15 am appointment (and also had a card, which I took a picture of it). I see on the website today that the office does not open until 10 am! This is the third time I have made an appointment that the office was either closed or somehow the appointment was "cancelled" without my knowledge! Horrible customer service! The call center could not assist because the Amityville office was closed and they did not have access to their schedule. read more

The Doctors there were fine. Their billing, administrative, I.T. Department and customer service are among the rudest, most incompetent people I have had to deal with. The bill I received did not have any details. I spoke to 4 people I believe, and NONE of them knew what some of the items were. Some lines were just a string of letters. I.T. Is not capable of writing code to put the explanation in English when those letters are entered.? The billing people at the surgery center said that they only put on the bill what Sight MD gives them. Of course Sight MD told me that the surgery center does the bills and they don't have access to that system. . So ridiculous I felt like I was being pranked. read more

Wait time is beyond ridiculous at Smithtown, Amityville and Bethpage, you need to allocate at least 2-4 hours for this appt. They also give so many additional tests and don't explain what they are for. The actual time with a physician is minimal. The actual vision exam is short and then there is an additional charge to receive your prescription for glasses. Times have changed for the worse in the business since the expansion many years ago. If you can find another practice that actually "sees" patients and the only focus is not the number of patients, I would highly recommend you go there. read more

Doctor is the only decent person at this office **BEWARE** You will be lied to that your prescription was called in, REPEATEDLY. Your pharmacist will be HUNG UP ON after 30 minutes on hold trying to help resolve your issue. They will then backtrack and tell you they could not hold with pharmacy... COMPLETELY UNPROFESSIONAL. Not to mention, this is for a child with an SERIOUS eye infection. My review will not change until someone resolves this problem. Disgusting. read more

While my visit was ok they never submitted my appointment to my insurance. So I paid my copay 2 times in October 2020. Come January 2022 I get hit with two more bills. I called them and had to leave 3 voicemails and 2 chats for them to call me from a "potential scam" phone number. Then they proceeded to tell me that my insurance reprocessed my claims and are saying I owe more money. So I called my insurance. My insurance told me they have no record of me visiting sight md. They never submitted anything to my insurance and they are hitting me with this bill because they forgot to send it in and they are trying to close out for tax purposes. My insurance told me not to pay and have them submit the claim again. I have called 4 times in the last 4 days and chatted 5 times and never have gotten a call back HORRIBLE customer service. UPDATE: finally got a call back a week and a half later. They said there was an error on my account with them asking for more money and I am not responsible. They tried to scam me and got caught so they took back everything they said to cover it up. read more

NOTICE the commenter NEVER comments on the surgery room cost- yes they did inform me that traditional surgery is covered minus any co pay- but they also scare you by saying that if you dont do the laser surgery the outcome may not be as good and if you research this you will see that is clearly untrue- and one more time- they never discuss any additional fees i.e. the fee for the surgery room- never ever mentioned!!! BEWARE Beware! they will push you to use laser for cataract which insurance doesnt cover- read up on this as traditional type of surgery is regarded as just as good and is covered by insurance the laser costs $1500 per eye all paid by you also the MD Sarwal pays no attention to your concerns or issues his answer is always everything is fine- what are you complaining about? also they NEVER tell you that there is also a charge for the surgery room $1650- you will only find out about this when they bill you for your deductible stay away and find a more honest reputable company read more

While I understand this may not be a universal experience, I had a very bizarre and frustrating experience at this Amityville location. My appointment was going fine until I saw the doctor, who didn't fully assess my vision, and then asked ME if my prescription should be changed. She said if I *wanted* to we could change it, or I could just leave it the same which I felt was bizarre because I thought it would be her job to give me that answer. Not wanting to risk any issues, I said I'd keep my same prescription. When I ask for my prescription, it doesn't get printed it was written on a post it. Again, strange. I go home and spend $200 ordering glasses online just for them to arrive two weeks later and I can't see in them. I look back at an old prescription versus my new post it one, and they reversed the prescription for my eyes (the left was written for the right and vice versa). All in all, I found the visit to be unprofessional and more trouble than it was worth. I'm not one to leave reviews, but I would never go back here!! read more

Walk in for appt and they tell me I now need referral and my dr office is closed. In a lot of pain and don't have the money to pay for the visit. Showed a pic of my eye yesterday, clearly red and inflamed. They refused to see me. Been going here almost a year with no issues. Dr. Neil Nichols is one of the best doctors ever. He knows his profession and that's why he gives quick and efficient appointments which some may not understand and think he's being rude but I love a doctor who gets straight to it and just knows his stuff. On point. And the staff is friendly. If you need an eye lid specialist, he's your guy. read more
