I had a very disappointing experience at LI Urgent Care in West Babylon…read more My appointment was scheduled for 9:08 AM, yet not a single staff member--front desk or medical--arrived until after 9:10 AM. If your hours begin at 9:00 AM, patients should not be left waiting while the entire staff arrives late. It immediately set the tone for a lack of professionalism and respect for patients' time. Unfortunately, the issues only escalated from there. I took the time to clearly explain my allergies to the provider, yet a prescription was still called in for a medication I am allergic to. This is not a minor oversight--it is a serious patient safety concern. As someone already not feeling well, having to go back and forth between the pharmacy and the office to correct this was both frustrating and unacceptable. The replacement medication that was prescribed caused significant side effects, to the point where I did not feel comfortable continuing it. When I called back within 24 hours to request a change to a medication I have previously taken without issue (and confirmed to be dye-free due to a severe allergy), my concerns were dismissed. Instead of listening, I was given an inaccurate explanation that my reaction was due to combining it with a steroid--despite the fact that I had already consulted with the pharmacist and did not take the steroid at all. At no point did anyone take the time to have a proper conversation or fully understand the situation. To make matters worse, when I inquired about dye content the following day, they were somehow able to check and verify the medication. That level of attention should have been provided from the start, especially given that my allergy was clearly communicated. Consistency in patient care should not depend on who happens to be handling the case. After verifying with the pharmacy which medication would be safe, I called the urgent care again and requested that specific prescription. Once again, after unnecessary back-and-forth, they agreed--but then proceeded to call in a completely different medication without any communication or explanation. The lack of attention to detail, poor communication, and disregard for patient input made this an incredibly frustrating experience. What should have been a straightforward visit turned into a stressful and drawn-out ordeal while I was already unwell. I will not be returning. This experience was a complete nightmare and only made an already difficult situation worse.

We have had this appointment scheduled for a month. Her insurance hasn't changed. The office has had her insurance information since she made the appointment. They could have called us at any point prior to 9:25am today and we could seek care elsewhere. The front desk staff are completely incompetent and unprofessional. This is a practice that needs to be absorbed by a bigger hospital organization and ensure competent patient care. We wasted our time and my girlfriend now has delay of care in tending to her active medical issues. Completely unacceptable. Do not go here.

One of the benefits is being able to get labwork done while you're there. I asked to get tested for epstein barr because my fatigue and other symptoms have been horrible. Luckily the doctor ordered the tests. Now, with that said.. I was shocked when i was being lied to about my lab results. I assume they were unaware I was given them through my email about a month prior. After reading the lab work, I reached out to two specialists and they confirmed the results. Maybe the doctor thought because time has passed, I should be fine now but it rubbed me the wrong way.

Having just relocated to a brand new office space on Merrick Road, The Doctor's Office of Merrick…read morestands as a beacon of old-fashioned care in an era where medical visits often feel like hurried transactions. From the moment you step into their new location, you're wrapped in an atmosphere of warmth and efficiency. The layout of the clinic is a testament to thoughtful design, seamlessly blending modern amenities with a comforting ambiance. It's evident that every detail has been meticulously planned to enhance the patient experience, from the cozy waiting area to the well-appointed examination rooms. However, what truly sets The Doctor's Office of Merrick apart is its exceptional staff. The front desk team greets you with genuine smiles and treats you like family from the moment you arrive. They go above and beyond to ensure that your needs are met, tirelessly assisting you until your issue is resolved. Personally, I had a medication which was sold out in my usual pharmacy. Not only did the front desk staff make suggestions of not one - but 4 local (smaller) pharmacies - but they even provided the phone numbers and told me which ones would deliver my medication! They asked if I needed any assistance with having them call to check the medication's availability - and, after I'd told them that I could handle making a few calls - they followed up to make sure I was all taken care of. (I must say - I felt as if I were a family member of the staff, with the attentive way that they treated me.) We went back a few weeks later - just to have my son get his eye looked at after an allergic reaction - they saw him right away - got him some eye drops and had the note ready (for school) before we even checked out! In a world where impersonal medical visits have become the norm, the level of care provided by Physician's Assistants Shane and Patrycja is nothing short of extraordinary. Their dedication to each patient is palpable, as they take the time to listen attentively, thoroughly assess your concerns, and provide personalized attention. What's more, they have a remarkable ability to remember each patient, fostering a sense of continuity and trust that is rare to find. Founded by Dr. Mark Haltrecht, this is an office filled with medical professionals who get an A+ from me in bedside manner and professionalism. The Doctor's Office of Merrick serves as a poignant reminder of how doctor's offices used to be in times long gone (although I'm sure they won't take a chicken or an apple pay in lieu of payment!). In an age where convenience often surpasses compassion, this clinic remains steadfast in its commitment to patient-centered care. It's a refreshing departure from the cold and rushed approach that has become all too common in walk-in clinics today. In the current day and age, where people go to walk in clinics for convenience and in order to see a medical professional quickly - that it has devolved into a conveyor belt style "get them in and get them out" type business model where there is very little bedside manner or caring. The Doctor's Office of Merrick truly bucks that trend. In conclusion, if you're seeking a medical practice that prioritizes compassion, thoroughness, and genuine human connection, look no further than The Doctor's Office of Merrick. Here, you'll find not just healthcare providers, but compassionate allies dedicated to your well-being.
