I've been coming to Midtown OB/GYN for a decade and the doctors are generally professional and have good patient interaction--they listen and take their time to answer your questions and understand your situation. I've been able to get all the referrals I need as well. What really undermines the experience is the time you have to wait for the doctor -- the nurse puts you in a room after arriving (often a very cold room), have you get ready by undressing and getting into your gown and then you wait sometimes 30-40 min without your clothes in a gown, which can be really uncomfortable. This is a pattern in my experience (not a one off when an emergency arises with another patient) so they clearly could fix this if they wanted. read more

If you are a new patient looking for care, DO NOT go to this place. You will be at the risk of unnecessary charges billed to you just because of their wrong coding, which they will refuse to correct. I went in for nothing more than a 10 min annual check, and received a bill from the office. When I was curious why do I need to pay for such a routine preventive care, my insurance told me it's because they purposefully billed using a code for "new patient visit" and REFUSED to use the correct code for "new patient preventative care". Both my insurance and myself called them to argue, they just refuse to change and use the correct code, stating " this is just what we bill for new patients". As a new patient I did not receive any additional care whatsoever, other than the annual check I had. Absolutely ridiculous, both the way they bill the insurance/patient, and the attitude that the staff had when talking to us. If you want to avoid the trouble of calling both side for many many times and get threatened "will send your bill to collection" while it is really their fault causing this, please don't go to this place, it's just not worth it. read more

Absolutely nothing bad to say about my wife's and my experience here! As a healthcare professional, I'm often hyper critical about the office flow and respect given by the staff and physicians. I never let then know I am in the medical field so my treatment isn't skewed. This is an NYU affiliated place and you won't be disappointment to say the least. Everything from the beginning of our arrival to the end, we were treated with courtesy and the dignity you would expect from an NYUMC affiliate. Anticipating the loads of paperwork for a new patient appointment at 12pm, we arrive at 1145 and finished by 1202pm. The waiting room starts to get busy, and by 1220 we were escorted to Dr Parks Office for the initial interview. This was quite impressive. We sat around the doctors table and spoke together. Didn't seem rushed at all, and encouraged many questions. Dr Park was very informative and lively. Yes, she is a younger doc, but from the credentials hanging and the hundreds of thank you cards with pictures of babies on them, she is well experienced. The most important thing, Dr Park made my wife feel comfortable and helped her understand everything in detail, including what was in store for the physical exam. My wife tells me she was very gentile as well. For a 12pm new patient appointment, with a sit down interview and greeting, to physical exam, and out the door by 1252pm; I would rate this an AWESOME clinical visit! I'm so glad to have found Dr Park for my wife, as she was very nervous to go and has not been to an OB/Gyn in over 6 years due to bad experiences. read more

If you want a natural delivery here, forget about it. At every visit with Dr McClelland, we reminded him that we wanted a natural delivery and his response was always "yes, yes I promise we'll discuss this closer to your delivery date". At week 36 we finally had this discussion. He told us that once we were at the hospital on delivery day, if he didn't see much dilation, his protocol was to induce. He threw some junk science at us, but as statisticians, we were armed with our own interpretations which showed that his scaremongering conclusions about the risks of a longer labor were false. He waited until week 36 to tell us that it was his way or the highway. We took the highway because we didn't want somebody that sketchy and unscrupulous anywhere near our baby. In case you're wondering about changing OBGYNs at week 36 in NYC, it's a nightmare. We were lucky that the Metropolitan Hospital accepted us. They were fantastic, midwife-run, and had much better facilities than the private hospitals. Oh and guess what? We got our natural birth. Avoid Dr McClelland. It was our first pregnancy and we saw Dr McClelland based on a recommendation from my wife's cousin. Dr McClelland is smart and capable, but he and the rest of the practice have little regard for their patients. If everything goes well, this practice can work well, but if there are any complications it will be difficult. Naturally, we experienced complications that ended in a failed pregnancy. While no fault of the practice, the reactions from the doctors made a terrible experience truly abysmal. Dr Anzai received our first call when we experienced bleeding and told us that there was nothing to do, and pushed us to not think about it. When we finally did see Dr McClelland and got the bad news, he gave us about 5 minutes to grieve before bringing us into his office and pressuring us to make a decision on next steps. While the surgery he performed went well, when we had questions afterwards and asked if he could do more tests / screeings, he told us we should look for a new practice. I was simply amazed by Dr McClelland's lack of empathy after such a big loss for us. While I don't question his capabilities, I warn any expectant parents to be careful in picking this practice: if anything goes wrong they will not have patience for you. read more

just now I gave birth almost 2 years ago and my baby was delivered by Dr Benedetto and Anzai- Dr Anzai magically flipped my baby (he was facing up and should be facing down) and that saved me from having a C-section. Excellent husband and wife team. Dr Spencer Mcclelland was my primary OB and stopped by to see me on the date of my delivery (had to run as it was his daughter's birthday ) , he didn't have to be there but I really appreciate the fact that he said hello, also amazed that he apologized to me that one time I waited 5 mins (I've never had an MD apologize to me for making me wait!). I had Gestational diabetes during pregnancy and Dr Mcclelland helped me navigate it without needing meds/insulin simply by asking what I eat (again, never had an MD take the time to have me enumerate my diet). Dr. Benedetto was beyond unprofessional during the last few weeks of pregnancy and post-partum. Please stay away from this practice. Failure to communicate, failure to show compassion and care for her patient, failure to provide a professional service, failure to treat her colleagues with respect in front of me. Dr. Benedetto failed to inform me how long I had to remain pregnant or what the plan for birth would be. I only discovered there was a plan for induction when I showed up at the hospital for a routine exam and they told me I was scheduled for surgery the following day. Dr. Benedetto had plenty of opportunities to discuss major surgery or induction with me and should have not only because it's a big deal and her job, but because she knew how I felt about surgery. I had to have a small procedure during my pregnancy and Dr. Benedetto behaved in a manner unbecoming a physician. She yelled and bullied the nurses and staff in the hospital and in the surgery room. It caused me great anxiety. I became stressed with the idea of going into labor and then her and her bad attitude towards the nurses, techs and staff. I presented her with my birth plan early on, which initially she approved and then close to the birth of my child told me to completely revise because her partners were not comfortable with it. On the day of delivery all my wishes were ignored by my attending physician. For instance, my child was poked and prodded and cleansed before I saw her. Several minutes passed. On the day of delivery she could not attend and Dr. McClelland attended. He called the nurse to check in on me and scolded me through her cell phone for taking too long. But he failed to ask why we were delayed. We were delayed not because I was causing a delay but because the hospital staff was taking their time going over documents, procedures, etc. Then he scolded me again for talking to my doula. I had to explain I was not asking her for medical advice, I was just scared as this was not the plan. I had no idea I was being induced until the day before, my doctor wasn't even there, I had never met him. Apparently as I walked in I was in labor, but didn't know it. I was only allowed a few hours of my own labor before I was forced to induce. I should have been stronger and stood my ground. I felt alone and with no one on my side. Post partum I was clearly suffering from Post Partum Depression. The nurses that came to see me told me. But Dr. Benedetto failed to ask me any questions and instead did two things: 1) "fired me" as her patient because her partner had reported back that I was difficult on the day of delivery. 2) when a few days later I called her with a high fever and clearly mastitis she refused to help me. I cried on the phone and begged her to help me because since it had only been a few days I have not gotten another doctor. I know two other patients of hers and the general consensus is if you don't mind being mistreated because you want someone who knows her stuff, then go here. She is cold and demonstrated with me a lack of care and basic human compassion. During our routine appointments she was very fast and didn't explain things in a helpful way. Her husband, Dr. Anzai was the same way. Cold, aloof. One of them said explaining medical things to patients is like asking a mechanic to explain your car. You won't know what the mechanic is talking about. Dr. McClelland had poor judgement with me, I think he had his mind made up before he even saw me and that colored his treatment of me, which was unfortunate. I was just a scared first time mom-to-be who's doctor had failed her. read more

First time mom here, Dr. Anzai was my primary OB but throughout my pregnancy I had experiences with all the practitioners here. I have to say I was thoroughly impressed with the practice including the medical assistants and the front desk staff. Dr. Anzai who was my primary was particularly kind and highly skilled. Being in the medical field I had a million questions and concerns and one by one he answered every question with honesty and evidence based data. Throughout my pregnancy I made multiple emails and last minute visits for concerns and I was always given an appt same day or if not the next day. But my concerns were always addressed via email or a call within the hour. The other providers were amazing as well. Dr. McLelland was on call the day I delivered and he treated me as if I had been his patient the whole time. I delivered precovid but has my follow ups post covid and I felt comfortable with the office protocols ie not many patients in the waiting room, socially distanced areas and of course proper mask wearing. Today is our 1st visit as a new patient in here and very satisfied with dr. Park. Same as the previous review, she is a young doctor but very nice and friendly doctor; which IMHO, the benefit as a young doctor she will be nice and curious about any issues and very attentive and private with the patient. She's very informative and calm (so i dont need to get panic too when im in labor). I just hoping and pray my pregnancy will always be healthy and smooth until the due date. The office is nice, quite organized and clean, compared to my previous obgyn clinic when my pregnancy checked in 6weeks, i really like and satisfied with this office and decided to not looking for the another office and doctor until the labor day (hopefully all will gone well, healthy n smooth). I did the research for and moved to this office because of (1) the location is near to my husband office (38th and 2nd), (2) the doctor i researched (dr. Cheon and dr. I was a patient at this practice for over 10 years and would still be with them if my insurance hadn't changed. Dr. Cheon was my OBGYN and is hands down one of the best doctors I've ever met. She's extremely talented, knowledgeable, and compassionate. Over the course of my time at their office we had been through a lot and I felt like I was in the best hands possible. I did have to go to the hospital for an emergency surgery, which Dr. DiBenedetto performed laparoscopically (Dr. Cheon happened to be sick!), and she was spectacular...She eased my fears and was an amazing surgeon, my scars have completely healed. At NY Midtown OBGYN I even had a couple of appointments with Dr. Park who was also excellent (just routine visits). Not only are the doctors great but I appreciated the PA's and the front office staff as well. All inquiries are taken seriously and messages relayed accordingly. If you live or work in NY and are looking for a top OBGYN, you won't be disappointed with this office. Highly recommend. read more

I just had a baby with this clinic and have to say they delivered top notch prenatal care for myself and my daughter. I met and felt very confident with all the doctors even though Dr. McClellan was my primary doctor (he is great btw). I felt very comfortable at this clinic and all the staff from techs to front desk and billing were great and work as a team. I didn't think I would find something so personalized in New York City, but this place was great. As for my birth experience at Lenox Hill, it was excellent. As a first time mom I had a lot of anxiety about birth and had no idea what to expect. They coached me through things and also advocated and supported my wishes. I saw Dr. McClelland throughout my pregnancy last year and he was the best! He was incredibly kind and patient when it came to my laundry list of questions and concerns. He always called me with test results as soon as they became available. He also made a point to remember small things about me and my husband which oddly made me trust him more. Dr. Benedetto delivered my son and was very professional and frank which led to the quick and safe delivery of my son who had his umbilical cord wrapped around his neck. I had a good experience with the practice. I really liked having Dr. Anzai as my Obgyn and he was supportive of trying for a vbac. I also met two of the other doctors at the practice, and Dr. Cheon and McClelland were really great and supportive as well. I felt well taken care of and all three had excellent energy and seemed very well respected at the hospital. They are one of the few Obgyn offices that has post partum appointments within 2 weeks and then another further out. My c-section took a long time but I'm in way less pain now than I was with my first c-section. I think they were careful to not contribute to pelvic adhesions, etc. which was very important to me. Every experience with the doctors/nurses I saw at the practice was excellent. I don't remember interacting with dr. Benedetto other than a very brief moment after delivery. On the minus side, the billing personnel were not very polite and there were some problems with the process. They actually made a mistake in terms of whether they accepted my insurance, which put me in an awkward position because I switched ob's to try and go for a vbac, so I was not able to continue looking. As part of the agreement, I paid some out of pocket, since they were out of network...but my expectation was that they knew I would have a balance for the actual delivery because the process takes longer with out of network benefits. however someone actually called me while I was still in the hospital recovering from my c-section about the bill for the delivery! I found it unbelievable. I told them I was in the hospital still recovering from my c-section. They backed off at that point so maybe they didn't know but it was extremely upsetting. I have no idea if they knew I was still in the hospital, but even if they didn't, calling that quickly after the delivery was really off putting. As I said above though, my interactions with the doctors was fine and I have no complaints on that score. I understand health care in this country is messed up and people struggle to pay but that was really too much. read more

I have been coming here to see Dr Theresa Cheon for my annual check-up (pap smear, breast exam, contraception check) for three years. Let's start with the gripes: * it's a bit of a hike to get there, but they are soon to move out of the 'public transit black hole' * I am ALWAYS kept waiting ages for my appointments. I usually get an early spot (say 9:30) and am usually not even shown into the exam room by the nurse until at least 10-10:15. I understand that heavily pregnant women and emergencies get priority, but it irks me a little that they always seem to be running so late. On the positive side: *Dr Cheon is thorough, friendly, professional and gives me the summary in an efficient way. I will continue to go there, and will be happier once they move to a more public-transit-friendly locale. read more

I cannot recommend Dr. McClelland enough! He has cared for me for years, and helped deliver both of my happy, healthy babies. You can tell with every interaction that you are in the best of care. His bedside manner is second to none; delivering his messaging succinctly, calmly and with a good sense of humor. He always has time for your questions and concerns. I have been a patient with this practice for past 3 years and so surprised to see all negative reviews. All doctors are fantastic and very qualified. I have mostly interacted with Dr. Benedetto, Dr. McClelland and Dr. Cheon. The wait time is minimal and nurses are so sweet. Dr. Cheon delivered my first baby and she was phenomenal. She guided me how to push and I had minimum tear. The recovery was very quick. I am now due with second baby and seeing Dr. McClelland. He is very nice and attentive. read more

I had a couple of complicated OB issues when I arrived for care here, my primary was Dr. McClelland. He was very gentle, compassionate and knowledgeable. He was able to guide me out of a situation and through a following complicated pregnancy that involved surgical procedures and bed rest. Happily, this ended with a healthy baby that made it almost full term, which took a lot on everyone's part to get there. I was Benedettos patient for years. After a while, I just couldn't see her anymore. I had to stop. I? Because she's always Yelling! Like Yelling! And even refusing to do additional tests that the patient wants as if it's coming out of her pocket. Forget going for an annual and trying to throw in some routine blood tests in there, she will flip and become aggressively judgmental. I hate writing this review because I'm sure she knows what she's doinh. But bottom line, you should never feel afraid to speak to your doctor. Ever. read more

I see Dr. Anzai as my OB. My husband and I both love Dr. Anzai. He is soft-spoken and accommodating and has a very calming bedside manner. I also love that his recommendations are always evidence-based (important to us as we are both doctors). I can easily get an appointment when I want and don't have to wait long to be seen. Anytime I get a test (and there are so many in pregnancy), Dr. Anzai calls personally with the results- this is above and beyond for any doctor I've had. I also know a few nurses and medical providers who have worked with him professionally and they all think he is very skilled and easy-going. His assistants (Olivia in particular) are very sweet and always respond to emails promptly. Overall an excellent experience with this office. read more

I just didn't have a good experience here. Dr. Cheon and Dr. McClelland are GREAT. If this review was for them, I would give it 5 stars. Unfortunately, I had my baby with the other 2 doctors at this practice and it just didn't go well. Main Issues: (1) They did not listen to me at all and very quickly jammed me full of pitocin. The doctor kept upping the pitcoin even though I was progressing fine. I said I did not want more and was told it was "not negotiable" - even through the nurses we also concerned about the amount / speed of pitocin being used. (2) Even though I has an epidural (very necessary given all the pitocin jammed into me), I was pushing great in the squatting position and making progress, however the doctor shut off the epidural as soon as I reach 10cm and refused to turn it back on. I pushed for 2.5 hours and was in so much pain towards the end that I almost passed out. (3) Professionalism - the doctor was just rude to everyone in the room: nurses, doula, my husband an even me. I completely understand that the doctor in the room is "the boss" but she was just very rude and unprofessional when it was completely unnecessary (4) If you decide to go with this practice, you should be comfortable with the fact that NYU is a teaching hospital and the doctors here a very committed to using the residents there. I put "Attendings Only" on my birth plan and spoke with them about it and it was completely ignored. My husband and I had to literally argue with the doctor to stitch me (and she eventually did) because she wanted a resident to do it and I was not comfortable with that. Overall, these are very good doctors and you will be in excellent medical hands if you go here. However, if you want to have more say in your birth experience and be the one making choices about the type of birth you have, then I would recommend a different practice. read more

I'm really surprised this place doesn't have more reviews. After a horrible experience with another doctor, I am so relieved that I finally found Dr. Park. She was so easy to communicate with and I can't recommend her enough. She is very caring to her patients and does an excellent job explaining everything in regular people words. She is very professional and no matter what you ask you doesn't leave you feeling stupid and answers them all very carefully. Delivered my baby with Dr.Benedetto in January. I had to be induced a few days past my due date because of low amniotic fluid. I like Dr. Benedetto because she is no-nonsense and doesn't sugar coat stuff. When I asked her opinion throughout pregnancy on different issues she told me exactly what she thought and why. I really trusted her opinion because she is very experienced. Several people told me the residents and fellows go to her so that also speaks highly of her. I switched doctors during my first pregnancy, and the difference between the two is night and day. Dr. Cheon is awesome, I love her bedside manner...and no matter what I ask her she is totally patient and doesn't make me feel stupid. The other doctors in the practice seem very nice as well. This place is clean and all the providers, secretaries and nurses are also great. The providers here are known to be one of the best OB GYN groups affiliated with NYU. They know their stuff. The secretaries are quick to help you at the desk. The nurses are nice and most draw blood pretty well. The environment is very clean and open. My appointments were always on time. This practice is also known to have low c section rates. Dr. Anzai is great and good at forceps if needed, Dr. Benedetto is also great. She knows her stuff. She is a no BS person and I would describe her as "tough love" type of provider, but on top of everything. Dr. Cheon I have never met, but heard she also has great bedside manners and is very good. Overall, I would recommend this practice to everyone. I had Dr. Park which I was blessed with, but unfortunately she no longer is with this practice group anymore. She was so wonderful. read more

I am a former patient of this practice and do not recommend it. I had a baby a little over a year ago and the treatment by the doctors at this practice during my delivery and during my postnatal follow-up appointments was uncaring and unprofessional. Dr. Cheon was my doctor and Dr. Anzai delivered my baby. Dr. McClelland was present for part of my delivery. This practice clearly adheres to the old school way of thinking about delivering babies - if the baby is born healthy, they've done their job. In other words, there was no consideration given to me or my experience delivering my baby. The doctors did not communicate what they were going to do or for that matter, what they were doing during my delivery. I realized how little I mattered to them when the doctor, rather than turning down my epidural so that I could push, turned it off and then disappeared for 1.5 hours. My plan was not to have a natural childbirth and there was no medical reason to let my epidural turn completely off before I started pushing. In the end, my baby was delivered using forceps and, per my communication with hospital staff and other patients, the doctor that delivered my baby is known as "the forcep guy" because he uses them so often. This is not ok - obviously the use of forceps when necessary is ok but, not as a standard delivery practice without notice to the patient beforehand that this is the doctors preferred method of delivery. The doctors messed up my repair and when I asked questions about what happened/ what the doctors were doing, they refused to answer. I was given no information and it was terrifying. My delivery was a trauma. While I realize childbirth can be traumatic, I'm also very aware of the humane approaches that doctors are taking now to minimize unnecessary trauma to the mother while also delivering healthy babies. I wish my delivery story was different and I'm positive that it would have been if I had chosen a different group of doctors. I'm posting this review in order to help prevent anyone else from experiencing this kind of trauma. read more

If you are too sensitive and need an obgyn/therapist, she is not for you. If you want a doctor who knows her job and does it seamlessly...go and see her. I had the biopsy in this office and I passed out a few mins because of excruciating pain. It should not be normal !! I was moaning on the floor because I know if I am on the exam table, I'd fall! sweating like crazy because of pain. I took pain killers but it took more than half hour to work. But I keep thinking, the procedure I received like in 3rd world!!! this is NYC..G!! This place is clean. The receptionists and all workers are nice!! read more

Dr. Maria Benedetto-Anzai put my health at risk twice, is unwilling to listen, and even yelled at me while I was her patient. I strongly do not recommend her as a doctor. First, Dr. Benedetto started not listening when I told her I did not want a VBAC. When I first met her she stated (somewhat proudly) that she is THE doctor others refer their patients to for VBACs. At first I wanted one, but towards the end of my pregnancy I wasn't sure. She stated that she was going to try and "change my mind" but during the next appointment I stated that I was leaning towards a second C-section. Yet, at the same time I was unsure and asked questions about the risks associated with a second c-section, and whether or not (by looking at the development of my pregnancy) I would still be viable for a VBAC. At this point, I sensed she was frustrated with my uncertainty and she either didn't answer my questions, or would answer so vaguely that it wasn't helpful. She'd say in a hostile manner, "I don't know, only 0.9% of VBACs end up in uterine rupture" (which means, there's a high risk of having your uterus removed during childbirth). I'd to clarify by asking, "By looking at my pregnancy and size of the fetus, do you think I'm at higher risk of a uterine rupture?" And she would just state hastily, "I don't know, you'll just have to see." Second, Dr. Benedetto ignored signs and completely missed the fact that I had gestational diabetes late in my pregnancy. All OBs make you take a test mid-pregnancy to assess for gestational diabetes, but some how I had passed. But, I strongly believe at the end of my pregnancy I had gestational diabetes. After my recent baby was born, I went to an endocrinologist and he had me take a diabetes test. My Hemoglobin A1C was in the pre-diabetic range (6.0), which means I was at this pre-diabetic state for the previous 3 months. This means that for the last 2 months of my pregnancy I was definitely pre-diabetic. I tried to tell Dr. Benedetto about my pre-diabetic signs, but she just dismissed them. I had a condition called hypoplasia with my first daughter. This is a condition of not having enough mammary glands which translates into not making enough breast milk. And I later learned that insulin resistance (a precursor to diabetes) is correlated with hypoplasia and lactation insufficiency. Granted, I didn't know all this when I discussed hypoplasia with Dr. Benedetto, but It would have been nice if she just took the time to listen. But when I brought it up, she just cut me off and said, "What is that? There's no way to diagnose that. That's absurd." She wasn't receptive to discussing it further so I dropped the conversation. If we had discussed this further, perhaps we would have picked up that I was at high risk of gestational diabetes. Thirdly, Dr. Benedetto yelled many times during our appointments. Typically, practices schedule c-sections at 39 weeks, but we pushed it to 40 weeks because I caught a cold. Given this change, another doctor in her practice (Dr. Cheon) was planning on conducting the surgery. While both doctors were in the room, Dr. Cheon asked me about the schedule change. At this point, Dr. Bendetto had been yelling at me on a regular basis, so I thought perhaps this is the way she often communicates? As Dr. Benedetto started yelling at me again about the schedule change, I could see that Dr Cheon's eyes got really big. Dr. Cheon had a look that said, "What is going on? Why is Dr. Benedetto yelling at the patient?" At this point I realized that Dr. Benedetto had something against me specifically. And lastly, Dr. Benedetto put my health at risk by ignoring important questions regarding my childbirth/c-section. Now that we pushed my c-section to my due date, I was concerned I'd go into labor before the date. I asked Dr. Benedetto repeatedly in person what I am to do if I go into labor beforehand, and she kept on saying, "Well, I don't know. What do you want to do? A C-section or VBAC?" Given her hostility and inability to answer me in person, I thought I'd just call and leave a message. But days went by and she still didn't answer my question. Finally, in my final visit (the one with both Drs. Cheon and Bendetto) I asked Dr. Cheon, and she clearly told me to come to the hospital as soon as possible because it takes time to prep for surgery, and I didn't want to miss the window of opportunity to receive an epidural. Dr. Cheon knew the importance telling me this because said, "There's low likelihood of this happening, but it's important to know what to do JUST IN CASE." I'm glad I listened to my intuition.I glad I asked repeatedly about what to do if I went into labor (contractions started 2 days before my scheduled date), and I'm glad I decided to have a c-section. My baby wasn't in the right position, and due to gestational diabetes, she ended up being a big baby. If you care about your body/health, and being treated like a person, don't choose Dr. Benedetto. read more

I started coming to this practice when I found out I was pregnant and I wanted to deliver at NYU because of their low csection rates and their L&D reputation. I was under Dr Bernadettos care and after being fobbed off with questions during the first 36 weeks because it was "too soon to discuss" when 36 weeks did roll around I still got the same treatment (questions re: delayed cord clamping, antibiotic eye ointment administration, supplements). Because I was so far along switching providers was impossible. The waits were very often very long for appts--the first appointment we waited over an hour to be seen. The interaction with the doctors were quick and the office would sometimes be full of patients waiting to be seen. When I went into labor Bernadetto made the experience horrendous. I had my water broken about four hours after I arrived because "I was progressing too slow and would be too tired when it came time to push". After this they started talking to me about Pitocin for the same reason. They were obviously in a hurry. I decided to get it which in retrospect I shouldn't. Bernadetto is extremely aggressive with pitocin to the point where my nurse refused to up the dose she was requesting as my contractions were already strong, long and frequent. It was also against NYU's policy. I'm a nurse myself so trusted my nurses judgement 100% as she was trying to follow hospital protocol. An argument ensued as a result in front of me with my doctor attacking the nurse in a demeaning and unprofessional manner. It got to the point where I had to ask my doctor to take it outside as I was already under a lot of stress and discomfort (since in addition to upping my pitocin she demanded the epidural dose be halved and I stop pushing the patient dose button). She got rid of the nurse who had been there since I arrived. She also was unprofessional directly to me and made what could have been a positive memorable experience terrible with her horrible bedside manner. I was yelled at constantly. She made ridiculous remarks like "you're not pushing properly" and "stop moaning". Awful! A few days after delivery I developed mastitis and when talking to the doctor on the phone during a lactation consult when I asked her a question about the delivery and her response was "I don't know I deliver so many babies". How about "Let me check and get back to you"?! Terrible! I do not recommend Midtown OB as even if you go with a different provider if Bernadetto is on call when you deliver you risk being stuck with her. In addition L&D at NYU was really bad. I was in labor in triage for 7+hours as no rooms were available. Post delivery I was stuck in a L&D room with one other patient with make shift room dividers providing no privacy as mother and baby was full over night through till late afternoon the next day. The day time L&D nurse who had to take care of me was terrible with latch help and was hardly in the room. She didn't offer my medications which I felt I needed and I didn't get lunch until 4pm when I was about to finally be transferred to mother and baby. The lactation consultant spent less than five mins with me and was completely hands off in her approach. The mother and baby nurses were really great though. I had three during my stay and they were all equally wonderful! Basically NYU is completely overwhelmed with patients and as a result I think it is part of the reason I developed mastitis and latch problems. read more

I had an 8:15 appointment this morning, with the thought I could get to work (nearby) by 9:30. I asked several times when my appointment would be as I watched every other patient arrive, sign in, and head back to their appointments. Not a single apology was offered and I was even told that the doctor was with another patient who had an appointment before me! (This was after they told me I had the first appointment of the day when I made it.) Finally, after 45 minutes of waiting I knew they wouldn't have time for my appointment and I had to leave. I couldn't even get the receptionist's attention to tell her I was leaving and she didn't seem to understand as I walked away from the front desk and out the door! Completely disrespectful of my time. I woke up an hour early this morning for no good reason and now I need to get another appointment with another GYN and wait another month for another appointment. At least if you're running late, tell me so I don't have to sit around for nearly an hour and I can reschedule or something. So unprofessional. read more
