A few days before my initial bridal appointment, my stylist Abbie gave me a call to get a sense of my vision for my dress and we proceeded to email back and forth about a few gowns that could fit the vibe. I loved this because it allowed me to have a solid starting point upon entering the shop in person. Throughout the appointment (1.5 hours), my parents and I were treated with warmth and care, and we never felt rushed or pressured. They had a great selection of dresses, and Abbie pulled all the right ones to help me arrive at my top two that day. I took about a week to think through everything before reaching back out to schedule another appointment to say yes to the dress (I couldn't stop thinking about it that entire week)! I ended up finalizing my dress at a&bé about 7 months before my wedding day and while they initially informed me that they may need to rush the order, they were actually able to get the dress ordered without any rush fee which was great. And furthermore, my dress ended up arriving way before the timeline they gave me as it only took a little over 2 months! Pricing was also within my budget and comparable to other shops I visited.

I purchased my wedding dress and paid in full nearly a year before my August wedding. I was told it would arrive by February. After not hearing anything, I emailed them in mid-February to ask for an update. That was when I learned, through a generic email, that my dress had arrived stained and had already been shipped back to the designer. There was no return date provided and no clear plan in place. I was never informed that the dress had arrived, that it was stained, or that it needed to be sent back for cleaning. There was also a possibility that the dress would need to be completely remade if the stain could not be removed. When I asked why no one had contacted me, I was told it was "company policy" not to inform brides in these situations in order to "prevent stress." Ironically, finding out weeks later with no communication created far more stress. Even after I requested them, I was never provided photos of the stain or updates on whether the dress would need to be remade after the cleaning attempt failed. Eventually coming to find out (after several phone calls asking for updates) that it would need to be remade and would be several months late. I had to cancel my alteration appts, PTO from work, travel for my mom to come in for the final fitting, and find a new seamstress that could get me in under a condensed timeframe. Throughout the several month affair, the only updates I got were from me initiating them. Never once would they take initiative to update me on the timeline, dress status, or any updates for that matter. The customer service was beyond unprofessional from the bridal studio and the designer. When I finally got to pick up my dress, not a single person apologized for the inconveniences, acknowledged the mistakes, or made me feel even an ounce of excitement to pick up my dress. Instead, I could not wait to finally put to bed my entire experience with this studio and never have to return. Learn from my mistake. Go to Grace Loves Lace, Vow'd, The Wedding Shoppe, Anthropologie, or anywhere else in the Minneapolis area before choosing this studio. During what should have been one of the happiest times of my life, I was made to feel like an inconvenience and was often treated as though my concerns were unreasonable.

We were greeted by the super sweet Taylor, who got us settled in and brought us some champagne, then I was assisted by Alexis. After helping me try on the gown I'd been pining after, she brought me a few completely different gowns to try for fun... and the third one was so stunning on me I CHANGED MY MIND! Alexis knewwww hahaha. Apparently the entire time we were having a blast, another bride had a meltdown and was yelling at the staff for being 6 mins late to helping them.. Alexis and Taylor were visibly short staffed and killing it, did not deserve a second of it... and managed to keep the magic alive for the other brides without skipping a beat. Annette was my stylist and she was so sweet and helpful. You can tell she really loves her job. She's super personable and knows the dresses inside out. Out of the three salons, she was the only stylist that prepped the dress for me to step into it. I know that sounds crazy,but some of those things are huge and it's not easy to find the floor and not trip on the dress. It's one of those little things that makes a big difference. She made the whole process so fun for me and my bridal party members that were with me. When we found the top 2-3 dresses, she made sure we went to the front of the store to get photos in sunlight so you could really see the detail. I'm sure all of the stylists are great...we met a few and they were all very nice and seemed to really enjoy their job. But if you can request Annette, do it...you'll be so glad you did. They kept the champagne flowing, the process moving along without it ever seeming rushed and had everything at their fingertips. I found the perfect dress and veil and was super excited to find out that I got 20% of that day. That really helped the budget. But in all honesty, their prices are fantastic. The dresses are GORGEOUS and high quality for great prices. We looked at two other salons (one I loved, one not so much) and Winnie was very competitive with the first one and WAY better than the second one. They also have a feature on their website that allows you to look through dresses and put them in a virtual closet prior to your visit so they can pull those gowns for you, and get a feel for your taste to show you others that are similar. I showed up on time for my appointment on a weekday afternoon (not typically a peak time), was shopping by myself since my family lives out of town, and tried on a number of dresses before it became clear they didn't have "the dress" for me so we ended the appointment a little early. There was nothing extra provided here - just someone to help you try on dresses as it is at every bridal salon, a dressing room, and a mirror. After the appointment, I noticed my credit card was charged $27.06. I figured it was an oversight so I emailed them to get it reversed, and they informed me that's not a deposit - that's what they charge customers to shop here and refused to refund it. I never would have made an appointment had I realized I would be charged to shop here, and it seems like a shady practice to charge brides to shop at your store. Before it even came to my attention that I had been charged for my appointment, I told my fiancé this was the one place I would not consider going back to since I felt like I was there to buy a used car, not my wedding dress. I was repeatedly asked what was keeping me from buying today and was told that there would be a discount only if I bought my dress there that day. The couple other salons I've been to have not pressured me at all to move forward that day and have told me to sleep on it and come back to try my favorite dress on again to make sure it's the right dress for me since buying your wedding dress is a special thing and not something you should feel pressured into.
