As a first time homebuyer, I knew there were a lot of things I need to know about the mortgage process. I've read and heard horror stories about this process and I jumped into this with defenses up. It did not help that there are many not-so-nice stories about NVR out there in the internet world. This was a 5-month process for my family and I. Our "case" was handled by 3 different loan officers (first one very briefly) at the local office and one loan processor - Monica Williams - at corporate. Monica was my constant in the entire process. She is awesome. She was very nice and very helpful. With all the million different questions I had, she was always there to answer, help explain or find out the answers for me. She was there to give me pep talks too when I am stressing out. She regularly communicated with me with updates. Josh Phillips and Steve Eichler were the last 2 loan officers that I dealt with and both of them are very nice, helpful and knowledgeable. They welcomed my questions, suggestions and ideas without getting exasperated nor tired of me (that I know of, at least). Very professional and accommodating. If I have an advise to borrowers: don't sit back and relax. Call your loan officer and processor when you have a question. Educate yourself. Supply the documents they ask for in a timely manner. It is amazing how much easier it is to go through a mortgage loan process when both sides work together and communicate with each other. read more

Josh Phillips, a Loan Officer with NVR Mortgage, was an absolute pleasure to deal with through the purchase of our home. He went above and beyond the call of duty to make sure we understood all aspects of the loan process. He gladly and respectfully responded to a litany of questions from the beginning to the end, even the most simple questions were answered in a timely and courteous manner. Josh worked extremely hard, much more than I would have ever expected, to provided us with the required documentation which allowed us to make the best possible financial decision. He was able to think outside of the box and be proactive with what style of loan would fit our family based on the information we provided him. Josh clearly is a fantastic loan officer and such a great face for the company. NVR is lucky to have him as an employee. I can easily see him climbing the corporate latter quickly with his work ethic, personality, and knowledge of the entire mortgage process. We had the worst experience with this mortgage company. We lost almost two months of time, and a $500 deposit, because our loan officer and his underwriter dropped the ball and caused our closing to be rescheduled to an undetermined date. They were well aware that we were closing on the sale of our primary residence and needed to move directly into the new home we were trying to purchase through them, but then when they cancelled our closing two business days prior, they requested we seek temporary housing until they could finalize things on their end. Absolutely unacceptable. This was not our first mortgage, and at the time of applying, we were holding a mortgage of the same dollar amount as the new mortgage we were applying for. There is no viable reason NVR could not approve the loan within the nearly two months we went back and forth with their loan officer and underwriter. I am in disbelief at how this process was handled, and will never recommend this company to anyone, even my worst enemy. read more

As a single mother of two and determined to purchase my get first home, I was ecstatic to discover the opportunity to have my very first home BUILT! Everyone from Nick, Carlo, to Seth (even the home office) was great to work with. Although the mortgage process was extremely stressful, the project manager maintained my excitement with pics of the house and Seth did an amazing job holding my hand throughout the mortgage process and making MAGIC happen! I've even asked my bank about their mortgage packages and was told that I was receiving a better deal with NVR which made me feel more confident about my major purchase. After we were all moved in, my brother was very impressed as he said "this was a well built home" and they covered details that his builders missed on his home! I really liked that Steve would call us randomly to check in and to see if we had any questions or concerns and to give us updates on where things were in the process.
