The incident happened today, the 6th of September, between 1620H-1630H, we were passing through Level 1 on our way to Kmart when my son asked me to buy some lollies for him. Nuts Galore was the nearest shop in proximity so we decided to buy an assortment of lollies from them. We paid five dollars ($5) for the lollies. Not a huge amount, but we do like to get the value for our money as any consumer would do.
So we went on our way, my son started nibbling on the lollies and I tasted some of the goods too. I thought that they were really hard rubbery, lacking in taste or sweetness - probably past their shelf life. My son and I often buy these kind of lollies from other shops, in a way, we have a lot of experience on what they should taste like. So I decided to come back to the store, tell them about my complain on their product and maybe work out some arrangement for a return of money or an exchange for other goods. They refused. They insisted that we have already touched the goods and they could have given me a free taste before purchasing the items. I said that we are not aware that the lollies that they were selling were probably past their shelf-life. As a consumer we always assume that what you sell is of standard quality so I wouldn't bother for a free taste. I asked them to taste it for themselves. They gave a resounding NO with the complaint not being resolved. They could just have returned my $5 or exchange it for some other goods of similar value. Rude consumer practice. The nuts that they are selling are probably alright but stay away from the lollies. They should do an evaluation of their nutty consumer policies. read more
