I am a current student at Nutrition Therapy Institute and am SO happy with my decision! For the past few years, I was looking for a way to turn my passion for health/nutrition/cooking into a career. I did a lot of research on going back to college to become a Registered Dietitian, but these programs were not holistically-focused and I felt that the material did not align with my own food philosophy. I was looking for a science-based education that focused on bioindividuality and also taught the importance of mind-body-spirit connection to foods. The curriculum at NTI is continuously updated to reflect current science and research. The instructors are highly educated and come from various holistic backgrounds (naturopathic doctors, chiropractors, molecular biologists, acupuncturists...). I love that NTI has an intimate setting and the students become part of a health-minded community. Great school for holistic nutrition, especially for distance learning. I take all my classes online as I do not live close to the school. I have learned a lot about the uniqueness of diet for the individual. What works for one may not work for another. Up to date research is included in curriculum reading/learning. All of my instructors are actively running their own businesses and sharing their knowledge with students. I even visited one my instructors at their business and was well received and answered other questions I had. I have both a Bachelor's and Master's degree in engineering and find the work challenging. NTI's Nutrition Therapy program changed my life. I have been an advocate for clean, healthy eating since I was a teenager, but it was not until three years ago I realized it was my life's calling. I researched numerous programs before finally deciding on NTI. I chose NTI for their science based approach, broad book list, and their recognition of bio-individuality. I started as a distance student from NYC before moving to Colorado to be in the classroom. As a distance student I enjoyed the flexibility of the program; in the classroom I really appreciated being surrounded by other "nutrition nuts." Both programs follow the same curriculum and all classes are instructed by either a successful and knowledgeable nutritionist or a naturopathic doctor. Since NTI is a science based program, it does not focus on one-diet philosophy, but examines the functionality of our bodies and recognizes the bio-individuality of all people. This viewpoint taught me the importance of working with the nutritional needs of each individual as opposed to following a blanket guideline. I would highly recommend NTI to anyone like me - a vigorous learner who wants to understand the science of nutrition in order to help myself, those around me, and the environment as a whole. read more

NTI is an amazing school that has literally changed my life! I have been "health conscious" for a long time but wanted to find a resource that I knew I could trust to learn more. NTI turned out to be just that! The curriculum at NTI encompasses a wide range of extremely valuable information and stays very current on changes and new developments. The instructors are phenomenal and are practicing in the field of Holistic Health, so they know how to teach applicable skills when it comes to real life clients. The curriculum is challenging and requires excellent time management, but this is what has graduates leave the school with the wealth of information that they obtained. This place is a big scam in my opinion. They are unorganized, some of the curriculum and information being taught is not up to date and some is extremely out of date, even though that is what they promise. One of the books we were forced to buy was ten years old. In nutrition, studies and science are changing constantly. The classes are just as expensive as my 'real' college classes and do not offer the same type of education, support or accreditation as a college degree does. I started taking classes and by the third class I was forced to take, Food Quality in America, I knew more than the teacher and she was a big joke. Apparently she had been teaching the class for 8 years and wasn't even a real teacher but a former graduating student. The book we had to buy she hadn't read thru in quite sometime and was giving wrong information from it. Not to mention, she was giving information about health items that were not healthy at all but potentially toxic. I was stunned. I went to the school and explained the situation and even though I had only taken the one out of the 4 week class, they not only refused to give me a refund, but tried to make me pay for the whole class. And it was not only me who was complaining, but other students decided to suck it up and sit thru it because they had to take it on order to move on. What a sad sad experience for a program I had such high hopes for. They are more worried about the money instead of finding qualified teachers and making sure the students have a completely well rounded experience. The anatomy teacher was fantastic, Dr. Steve Shomo, and he was the bright light of the whole experience. Super smart and I learned a ton from him. Since then I have enrolled in a real college nutrition program at university of Denver Metro and getting my bachelors in nutrition and in to be certified as an RD and an overall better education worth the money. read more

I am a current student at NTI and absolutely love the program. The instructors are extremely knowledgeable and enthusiastic and always make me feel empowered to be learning and training in this amazing field. Each class I go to surpasses the one before as they each build off each other in a fluid way which helps connect dots and deepen my understanding in what is a very science based curriculum. I did not have a background in science before attending NTI but my instructors have been superb in building my knowledge in a non threatening/intimidating way! I find there is a great balance between the necessary science and the practical education of running your own private practice. I am so happy to have found this school that meets my needs perfectly!
