I tried many different plans and found Weight Watchers helpful once or twice, losing 10-15 pounds. I could never get below a BMI of 28.7 which is classified as overweight and unhealthy. I had high blood pressure, sleep apnea, low energy, painful joints and was several points away from receiving the diagnosis of Diabetes. After approximately 15 years of "dieting" without sustained results, I was thrilled to learn of the new weight loss medications. I did my research and joined the practice of Cara Fleming, NP and am delighted with my results. I feel energized (recently joined the YMCA with weight training) and no longer take any medications for high blood pressure. My sleep apnea has improved and my joints are happier. Additionally, my hemoglobin A1c (used to monitor Diabetes) is 4.7 which is amazing. I have had the pleasure of meeting both Cara, NP and Deirdre, NP for my visits. They offer the option of virtual visits. Easy! They are both professional NPs who have years of experience caring for acutely ill patients; making decisions under highly stressful conditions. They now work on preventing the illnesses that brought their ICU patients to the hospital. Both shared their weight loss journeys and understand the problems that obese people face. Their practice is truly a judgment free zone, focused on sustainable, positive change. As a fellow NP, I am very pleased with my experience. I am able to have a virtual visit when I can't visit the office. Cara and Deirdre ask the appropriate medical questions re: diet, exercise and how I am tolerating the tirzepatide. They advise on how to address any side effects and I know their recommendations are based on current evidence and best practices which are very important to me. Here, the therapist is by your side for the entire hour, advising how to do the exercises and correcting your form anytime you might be tempted to take a little short-cut. Over the course of one month pre-surgery and three months post-surgery, I worked mainly with Paul and Cavan. They are both highly knowledgeable and caring professionals. I had the same surgery seven years ago. Thanks to the expertise, dedication, and positive attitude of Paul and Cavan, my recovery from this surgery progressed markedly better than it did when I was younger.
