I have thought about writing this review since fall 2018 and finally doing so now in 2019. So this is not angrily written. I have thought about this issue for nearly a year...so this is not an emotional review. I have tried to come up with anything positive to say about NuSystems. I can't. This is another one of those rare nightmare companies that simply take your money and 'not do the job' yet aggressively bill you for it. This firm is so bad it's just not worth arguing with them. Simply, accept the loss and run. To name but a few things. Alarm system. Epic Fail. They installed part of the system prior to my home ownership and I hired them to inspect/test and ensure the system property arms and that everything works. I also added more zones and do much more work. After their work, things got even worse with false alarms and often would not arm. This is not a complex system. After thousands of dollars spend and they system still didn't work property. I gave up and hired another firm to come out and run a diagnostics with me hovering over their shoulders to find out 'what's going on?'. Holy Smokes. NuSystems left me a mess. Of the entire house, only the kitchen door and the downstairs door was actually property coded and would arm. None of the other components that they originally installed and the new stuff I had installed were ever added/coded into the system and however, there was a lot of stuff added but these were all typos. So, maybe they tried to add them, but they didn't check their work...I guess this is why the system didn't work property. It gets worse, every single motion and smoke alarm did not actually communicate with the alarm panel. Motions looked like they worked because when you move in front of it, the green light goes to red and you can trigger the smoke by creating smoke but this did not communicate with the panel to initiate a fire emergency. Ooops! Again, they didn't check their work? Insult to injury, the heat sensor in the garage was non-functional. Never connected either. Also, the outside door that leads to my crawl space in the house to the water system also was never coded into the system either. All in all, only two doors triggered the alarm and that's it. So all the work I paid to have enhanced to the alarm didn't work and their original install also didn't work with the exception of two zones: Kitchen and lower floor door. Ethernet Work. I paid NuSystems to extend CAT6 cables so that they can reach the new Ubiquity UBNT switch. Oh gosh. The technician did not check the wiring and completed the wiring BACKWARDS! Really? This is what NuSystems does... and they couldn't get that right either. Oh yes, gets worse again. They added an additional CAT6 line from the bedroom that snaked through to the kitchen. They took the easy route and instead of using the easy accessible panel to the wall that removes...they decided without asking me to drill through my wood beam and leaving an unsightly hole and then string the wire unprotected through the pantry cabinets. They said they would fix it and many months passed and they ultimate refused to correct their damage to my house. What really gets me, is that even with the alarm fiasco...I was willing to work with them. What broke me is their refusal to fix the damage they caused to my home. They simply wouldn't honor and stand behind their work. This surprised me because their owner David came to my house to work on my phone line and during a hour + conversation at his truck he tried to recruit me to his Jehovah witness church and talked about the importance of honor and integrity...their value system. My wife and I recenlty moved into Minden and we had a full set of home theater speakers installed in our home. The installer had a difficult time in setting up a portion of our system, so I called Nu Systems to see if they could rectify it. On the appointment date, Chris came out and after explaining the problem, he was able to fix it and was very knowledgeable about home theater systems and in particular with my Marantz tuner/receiver. I spent nearly $70K with NuSystems in 2006-7 for Home automation an Home theatre systems. 4 months ago 4 TVs quit working and I still await a proposal or repair. They take your money do good installing but fail miserably on service. They are very costly for such poor customer service. Will not recommend them period. read more

I had NuSystems install a Honeywell Tuxedo Touch security and home automation system in my 1940's cabin in South Lake Tahoe in March 2015. They were the closest authorized dealer and I had my mind set on this system. It was not cheap and I had trouble convincing my husband to approve it but we both love it! It is internet enabled with cell back up which is important due to frequent power outages during winter. I choose the Tuxedo Touch because it is user friendly and allows me to do all of the following remotely: unlock door, adjust thermostat, turn on light, view live video surveillance or review recorded motion video surveillance. I can do any of these things either from an app on my iphone or ipad or via web page on my laptop. It can handle most z-wave enabled devices including water valves if you want to disable water or detect moisture which is good for 2nd homes! I'm able to save recordings permanently on my computer--great for bear sightings! NuSystems was very professional and prompt upon coming out to assess my needs in order to provide an accurate bid and recommending spots for the electrician to install power outlets for the wi-fi cameras so that I would not have to have unprotected wires all along the outside of my cabin (fire/rodent hazard). Installation was as scheduled (important since I live remotely and have zero flexibility in rescheduling). It took about a day and a half to get everything installed/connected. Upon completion, the technician trained me on the wall unit of the system, got my account login established on the computer and trained me how to customize settings from my computer including the frequency and sensitivity of recordings. He helped me download the app to my iphone. It's been eight months and these are the negatives: If you intend to use the system with your computer and not the smartphone app, you will need to troubleshoot issues on your own as NuSystems has not been able to help me nor does Honeywell have a help number. Computers and browsers run updates which may be incompatible with their website. You have to be technically competent or have an IT guy to figure it out. System records every time the sun sets and rises--on every camera! If you decrease the sensitivity to not pick up sunset and sunrise, then it is not sensitive enough to record the things you want it to record. It records the motion of rain and snow which is annoying. If internet is down, cameras and automation features don't work until internet comes back up but the security alarm continues to work due to the cell back up. Once internet returns, it reboots automatically (except one time in 8 months.) You have to have a strong, high speed internet connection for the system to work. Overall, I'm glad I went with NuSystems and would definitely recommend to everyone. read more
