I walked in to visit him on his first day there and found the paperwork laying on table on the other side of the room! He also had some medical issues that needed to be addressed and the nursing staff blew him off on multiple occasions. I am a Registered Nurse and despite multiple requests to call the doctor for a chronic skin condition, the nurses caring for him would not call the doctor to get an order for the medication used to treat it. Their solution was to apply moisture barrier cream to his face that caused further irritation and burned his skin! They kept applying it knowing full well that it was making it worse. He had an open and draining rash on his face and as a result, he developed a bad infection! Unbelievable! I only gave the 1 star because it would not accept my review without a star rating. There are many facilities that provide excellent care with caring staff. Do NOT send your loved one to Elm Terrace!

No one answered the call bell when they needed to be changed. The room had food caked on the furniture, blood stain splattered on door to bathroom, the floors are disgusting with leftover food under the bed. I tried to get them some water, but no one was around that could help. Went to the nurse's station to get someone to come help change them and maybe get some water and was snapped at , told someone would be down to help them as soon as they could. There were employees all around the nurses station but not one could look like they cared enough to help. This place needs the dept of health to come visit. It's very unsanitary here. Let alone I saw medication on the floor , a couple pills in the hallway to their room. whoever they were for obviously didn't get them ... anyone could have found it and taken them if they wanted to. They did not come to change my friend for over an hour after I brought it to their attention. This is beyond bad. This place needs shut down to be honest. The food that they serve, is it even food??? From the moment we pulled up in a transport, someone met us in the parking lot, till we got her settled. Everyone was perfect. Each day only got better. The rehab people are great, and the nursing staff and aides actually like their jobs! I'm not sure we would have fully appreciated how great this place is if we didn't have such an awful experience at Shannondell. Mom loves the food (she stopped eating at the other place). All the residents are dressed each day and happy, easily talking with each other. The staff cannot do enough for you. Family is welcome to stay as long as you want (and they actually mean it). The full time residents from the senior living often stop in the hallways to say hi and are very welcoming. I cannot say enough good things about this. Finding a place to put your loved one is simply the hardest decision you have to make, whether it is for a day, a week or a lifetime. I cannot say how truly happy we are that Mom is here. We look forward to her coming home, and realize that they are teaching her all the necessary things to accomplish that goal. Bravo Holly House at Meadowood. You truly are a wonderful place.

PT was disappointing at a few times per week and about 20 mins per session. The room service was horrible, sometimes up to an hour after pressing the Call button. Food was tasty but often arrived up to an hour after standard meal times, and often cold. The aides were a mixed bag. Some were downright nasty and my wife advised that one yelled at her and made her cry. At meal times, the whole staff seemed to go eat at the same time, leaving no one to service patients. I'd stay away from this place and choose a smaller facility with more personable service. Its administratively out of control up to the top. They need a Quality task force composed of top management and line workers to view the daily routine and get intensive feedback from the patients. BOTTOM LINE: STAY AWAY UNTIL MANAGEMENT POSTS THEIR REPORT ON HOW THEY'VE CLEANED THINGS UP
