They did not honor their brake warranty. Four months into a front brake job I had a problem. I took it back to them. They blamed the caliper. The mgr said it would intermittently stick......WHAT! The brakes were not installed properly ...
Response from the owner a day ago
Thanks John, for taking the time to write a review so that I have an opportunity to let everyone know the truth of what is really going on with your car. We 100% honor our warranty on brakes when theirs an issue with our product but in your situation there is absolutely nothing wrong with my product. The problem that you are having is your left front brake caliper is sticking which in terms causes a scrubbing sound which is why you came back to see us. You claim this is happening because they were installed wrong? There's only one way to install brakes John, so by you saying that, you are 100% insulting my technicians intelligence who by the way has been doing this trade for 23 years. We showed you the difference between the left side (the bad side) and the right side and yet you refuse to understand. Please go and get a 2nd and 3rd opinion and call me when a reputable shop explains the same findings that we did. Have a fantastic day!
Regards,
Bobby

my apologies. i wasn't trying to insult anyone. i had a bad experience with your shop.
the reason i came to your shop to begin with was the bracket bolts were frozen when i went to do my brakes. my propane torch wasn't hot enough to free them up. your shop did work for me a few years back and i was happy with the results. so i brought it over to you and had them do the brakes for me.
while out of town i heard a brake squeal. i took it into a shop for an inspection. they said the front brakes and driver side rotor needs to be replaced. the driver side outboard pad was worn down about 50% and the rotor was grooved by the pad.
when my car was inspected by Nuno's on 10/14/19 i was told the driver side caliper was intermittently sticking. i know quite a bit more than the average person about brakes. i can tell by the explanation i was given that things didn't seem to add up. if the caliper was sticking the inboard pad would show excessive wear. i explained that to the manager and also told him what i suspected was the problem. he didn't disputed what i said but said the mechanic says it was the caliper intermittently sticking.
i asked him if he questioned the mechanic about the diagnosis as calipers don't intermittently stick and if they did the inboard pad would have worn down. he said no because 'that guy doesn't make mistakes... not that guy. if he says that's the problem, that's the problem.'
in most shops a service managers job is to double check or review the diagnosis and if something doesn't add up he has to question it. i have to assume that is the way your shop operates.
i did the brakes myself. when i inspected my findings were:
the brakes were the correct ones, ceramic.
the driver side rotor was scored on the outboard side.
the outboard pad was worn down about 50% with heat cracks evident.
the inboard pad had normal wear for 4 months usage.
brake lube was applied properly to all the pads and the caliper pins.
both caliper brackets were not clear of corrosion prior to the installation of the brake hardware. the corrosion build up on the driver outboard side was enough to cause the hardware did not seat properly in the bracket and in turn the outboard pad was sticking when the brakes were released.
with regard to the caliper itself, the inboard pad as i stated earlier was not worn. if the caliper piston was sticking the inboard pad would have been effected.
i did have it checked out by a reputable brake shop. as i mentioned to your manager i was out of town when i heard the brake squeal. they gave me a quote to replace the front brakes and rotors.
your manager was going to speak to someone and see what you could do. i told him i would be repairing it myself today and to let me know before then.
there was no intention to say your employee wasn't qualified. as i told your manager, anyone can make a mistake in their work. his response was 'not that guy'.
when i started fixing the brakes today i noticed the top bolt holding the driver side caliper to the bracket was loose, hand tight . I'm not sure who put the brakes back together after the inspection but once again mistakes happen. read more
